Damage Reduction
Damage Reduction, referred to as DR, is a stat given to monsters and bosses (I.E. Zakum or Horntail) since the introduction to the Potential system. The stat refers to how much damage that the monster can absorb from the player by a percentage, akin to a Paladin's Achilles or Aran's High Defense. For example, if a boss with 40% damage reduction (Horntail) was hit with 20,000 damage, it would absorb 8,000 damage, taking only 12,000 damage.
There are two types of damage reductions, one for physical and magical attacks. Physical Damage Reduction, known as PDR, reduces the physical damage made from players, such as Warriors, Bowmen, Thieves and Pirates. Magic Damage Reduction, known as MDR, reduces damage caused by magic attacks.
Potential and certain skills are able to ignore the monster's defense of the monster.
