Introduction

This Guide was made by Puppyswan

Thieves are sinister people. They can run and jump fast, they can hide and best of all, they do some of the most damage in MapleStory. Thieves are, without doubt, the most used class in MapleStory. They are also the second-most expensive class in MapleStory, due to the expenses tied to recharging/buying throwing-stars. It is generally a good idea to watch out for thieves, as they have been known to kill-steal in the past. They are especially capable of doing such, due in part to their ranged abilities. This is frowned upon, and new thieves should do their best to not practice the aforementioned kill-stealing. Do not be surprised if you are defamed for KSing. But a lot of people who say this are just whiners and some thieves simply accidentally KS especially assassins who have to attack with long range and cannot control star direction.

Pros

  • Attack with range, beaten only by Bowmen
  • High level of avoidability
  • Attack rather quickly
  • Drain gives Assassins another way to recover HP
  • Critical Throw amplifies Lucky Seven's damage
  • Has Haste, allowing faster movement and jump of the entire party
  • Saves money because of drain by not having to buy HP pots
  • Only character that is able to jump and shoot stars at the same time

Cons

  • Assassins cannot kill mobs as easily as most other classes since they require range to throw stars, but this is made up for in third job with the mob skill, Avenger
  • Don't get any new attacking skills until they become a Hermit
  • Assassins don't get much stronger than first job until about Level 35 or so
  • Assassins are very, VERY common, and as a result has the highest upkeep costs for the 2nd job.
  • Assassins require claw scrolls, which are very rare
  • Assassins do NOT do well in mass mob battles

Stars

Throwing Stars are an important aspect of a theif's life. Stars can increase your attacking power and lets you attack. Different stars give you diffferent attack bonus. A theif is always striving to get better stars such as ilbis, and hwabis.

Here is a drop list for stars:

Here is a list of the stars and their regular costs:

Beginner

Beginner Intro

Welcome! You have entered the fascinating world of maplestory. You will start out as a beginner. Beginners are usually melee attackers due to their inability to use ranged weapons and the relative unavailability of attack skills and have weak melee attack, but don't worry, All characters start as beginners. Beginners have no other attack skills other than the Three Snails Skill and rely on normal attacks to deal damage. Beginners typically train in preparation for the first job advancement, in this case you will become a Theif.

  • Level 2: 1 Nimble Feet
  • Level 3: 1 Nimble Feet
  • Level 4: 1 Nimble Feet (MAX)
  • Level 5: 1 Recovery
  • Level 6: 1 Recovery
  • Level 7: 1 Recovery (MAX)

This build is a very unimportant, but there is no need for the Three Snail Skill. Because you will get Lucky Seven.
