Demon Slayer

Demon Slayer is the fourth addition of the Resistance Warrior class and the 3rd part of the Legend Update, released in KMS on August 8. It has been said to be the "strongest class in Maplestory", the title Aran formerly held.

History

Long ago, the Demon Slayer was once a general among the evil Black Wings and like his comrades, loyal to the Black Mage. In a conference involving the Demon Slayer and the other generals, Akyrum, Orca and Von Leon, they discuss attacking and invading the land where the Demon Slayer was born. He tried to stop the attack to no avail and in result, his family was slain by his own partners. Enraged, with the only thought of vengance on his mind, the Demon Slayer traveled to the Temple of Time to combat the Black Mage, only to be stopped by Akyrum and his monsters. He defeated Akyrum and went on to face the Black Mage himself. The battle was ferocious as it was challenging for the Demon Slayer was a formidable foe to the evil mage. The battle ended in the Black Mage's favor by sealing the Demon Slayer in an egg, draining his powers.

Many years later, the Demon Slayer breaks free from his egg and takes down two Black Wing members, but fainted due to his power loss. J, who had witnessed the event, took the Demon Slayer in the Resistance base and recruits him in.

Now the Demon Slayer fights for the Resistance, looking to avenge his fallen family.

Gameplay

The Demon Slayer is one of the most unique classes in Maplestory. Demon Slayers is the first class that does not possess MP at all. Instead, they use Demon Force, which work in different ways than Mana. Along with Demon Force, they are also more dependent on their HP,even more than Spearman, most of their skills involve not only their DF but their HP as well, so it's wise to look after your health when using your skills.

The Demon Slayer's weapons of choice are one handed Blunt Weapons and Axes. They are paired with special Force Shields, which grants your Demon Force. During your gameplay, you will also recieve unique blunt weapons called Scepters, exclusive to your class. You can never get rid of your Force Shield, you are stuck with your force shield for the rest of your life. Because of this, you are unable to switch to a different shield, which would be a bad idea because without your Force Shield, you are left with only 10 DF, which is not enough to use your skills. Along with this restriction, Demon Slayers can only wield their respective weapons, they are unable to wield a weapon that is not a one handed Axe or Blunt Weapon, not even a sword.

Like the Cannon Shooter and Mercedes, Demon Slayers also have a link skill. Their skill allows them to gain an additional 10% boss damage.

• Pros of Demon Force
  • Demon Force can be recharged easily by using your basic attack. (look at Demon Slash)
  • More convenient than Mana. Whenever fighting a tough boss, mana users will have issues using their skills whenever they run out of Mana. Demon Slayers does not have to face this.

• Cons of Demon Force
  • There is no potions or items that can replenish your DF or boost your DF level.
  • Demon Force, unlike mana, does not increase every time you level up. It remains a constant number. The only time your DF increases is whenever you gain an new Force Shield, which is aquired upon advancement.
  • There is no DF increase scrolls, buffs or Potential.
