Galicia is the eleventh Server of Global MapleStory. The server began in December 2009.
The server has grown at a rapid rate, and is currently the fifth most popular server on Global MS, behind only Broa, Windia, Bera, and Scania (in that order).

Server History

The double experience/drop events started a week later than the server's release. And some of the events overlapped with the Holiday/Christmas events. At the time of release, Galicia was filled with tons of people moving over just for the events (as with all severs). However, unlike most new servers (Kradia, Yellonde, to name a few), Galicia actually continued to grow as the months progressed. The release of the Evan class, and Galicia appearing before all other servers on the sever screen, are believed to be heavy contributions to Galicia's strength. As of early summer 2010, the population continued to grow, and had already surpassed Kradia, Yellonde, Demethos, Bellocan, Mardia, and Khaini, and now ranks as the 5th most popular server on GMS. The upcoming Dual Blade release is expected to further bring an influx to Galicia's population. Some MapleStory analysts were predicting the server to become as balanced as Broa or Windia, if the server continued to grow at such a rapid rate.

Being a new server, Galicia did not have access to the MTS. And as of December 2010, despite no longer having "new server status", it has yet to receive the MTS. However it does have a stable economy, that is building steadily (most steady economy of a new server since Mardia in 2007). The FM has a moderate amount of markets, and generally honest merchants. However there are still a few scammers, and bots.

Galicia was also notable for being the first server to greatly take a hit from the Maple Island revamp in early 2010 (Galicia was released just a single month before the revamp). Because of this, the sever lacked a proper Islander population. However in early Spring, a population slowly began to grow. Over time several small communities of Islanders formed. And despite downfalls, Galicia throughout 2010 had the most active Islander population in all of GMS, with Scania being a distant second. However this has since changed with the release of Zenith.

When Galicia was the newest server, it was facing an ongoing population boom, and was subject to frequent downtime. Various glitches plague the server on numerous occasions. Resulting in unscheduled server checks, which sometimes result in 2x exp compensation from Nexon. The server began to level out around autumn 2010. But is expected to see a population growth, once the server migration feature comes into effect for Galicia (expected to happen with v.094).

FAQ

Q: What is Galicia?

A: Galicia is a brand new world starting with 13 new channels in MapleGlobal. Galicia is equivalent to Scania, Bera, Broa, Windia, Khaini, Bellocan, Mardia, Kradia, Yellonde and Demethos in every aspect, having the same maps, same NPCs and same quests. This new world provides more room for adventure in MapleGlobal.

Q: How do I go to Galicia?

A: JSimply select Galicia when you are in the "World Selection" screen. When you first log in, there are no characters in this world. Not to worry as your existing characters are still safe in Scania, Bera, Broa, Windia, Khaini, Bellocan, Mardia, Kradia, Yellonde and Demethos. In Galicia, you will have to start with new character(s), which means with 1 MapleStory account, you can now create 27 characters (3 in each world).

Q: Will my character be reset?

A: If you are an existing player, your current character(s) will remain as they are, in Scania, Bera, Broa, Windia, Khaini, Bellocan, Mardia, Kradia, Yellonde and Demethos. You may use your existing Maple account to visit Galicia. A new registration is not needed unless you are new to MapleStory. Also, since Galicia is considered a new world, it will not be open to MTS and Character Transfer just yet.

Q: Can I train my existing characters in Galicia?

A: Existing character(s) in Scania, Bera, Broa, Windia, Khaini, Bellocan, Mardia, Kradia, Yellonde and Demethos are not transferable to Galicia because of new server regulations. You will also not be able to access the MTS. You will need to start a new character in Galicia, if you do not have one. So if the traffic is too heavy for you in Scania, Bera, Broa, Windia, Khaini, Bellocan, Mardia, Kradia, Yellonde and Demethos you may find it easier to train your new character in Galicia! (Note: Be warned, due to the excitement of having a new world, Galicia is currently experiencing some population issues, as an empty channel is unlikely. If you wish to do any party quests and/or train solo, it will take some time to find your own, "personal" channel.) The Galicia character will not be able to move to Scania, Bera, Broa, Windia, Khaini, Bellocan, Mardia, Kradia, Yellonde and Demethos worlds with the character exchange from cash shop.

Q: Can my IGNs in Scania, Bera, Broa, Windia, Khaini, Bellocan, Mardia, Kradia, Yellonde and Demethos, be used in Galicia?

A: Your IGNs in Scania, Bera, Broa, Windia, Khaini, Bellocan, Mardia, Kradia, Yellonde and Demethos, are protected. Therefore, they will not be usable in Galicia. However if you would like to recycle your IGN, you may delete the character from another server, and start fresh with the your original IGN.

World Alliance

On July 6th, 2012, the Galicia Server joined a Server Alliance with the Arcania, Zenith, El Nido, Demethos servers. These servers will share the same playing world (Players from all 5 worlds will play with each other) but players are allowed to make characters on all the servers, which means people will have quintuple the amount of players for that world. All the characters are still separated by worlds, so the rankings won't change. The number of channels has been increased to 20.
