Monster infobox Template

Hi, I haven't been mapling for a long while. Just one question, does the 'Species' in Template:Monster infobox serve any purpose? Yongjianrong 23:49, 19 November 2011 (CST)

Yea, you are able to determine the species of a monster by looking at their stats in the Crusader Codex. ToaArrol 23:55, 19 November 2011 (CST)

Ok, one problem I see with the skill infobox template is that the background is grey, which makes the wordings impossible to see under a low-contrast screen. Do you know how to change the colour?

I think that articles should be categorised. Currently they're quite messed up as the same type of articles are put in different categories. For instance, Energy Bolt. It should be categorised under Category:Magician Skills, then the category named Category:Magician Skills will be categorised under Category:Skills. It's supposed to be something like a hierarchy. Do help to categorise the articles if you have time, thank you. Yongjianrong 01:40, 20 November 2011 (CST)

Sure, but it's best that you let me work on the skill infobox, it can be complicated. Just leave a complaint and I can work on the categorization thing. Also for the categorization thing, you'd have to add them manually.ToaArrol 01:46, 20 November 2011 (CST)

Adminship

Hi, if you would like to be an admin, you should find MapleTip. His name is Stephen on MapleTip. Yongjianrong 00:50, 16 October 2011 (CDT)

Is he active? ~[[ToaArrol]

I guess so, I haven't been to MapleTip for a long time, he should reply within a week. By the way, if you see any vandalism, feel free to post a note on my talk page and I'll stop the person. Yongjianrong 01:02, 16 October 2011 (CDT)

Oh yes, and also, you can use '~~~~' at the end of your sentence to add your name, the date and time, saves your time.

Ok, I'm messaging him now. I'll tell him you sent me. Thank you very much. ToaArrol 01:11, 16 October 2011 (CDT)

A new infobox

I have a new experimental infobox set up and working (finally) after the couple of days I've been working on it for the past couple of days.

This infobox is used for shops and should be a great feature once fully completed.

Formatting on this is much easier for new users and makes implementing much easier for those with limited Wiki code skills. It's also nice in that, unless the price is not average, it will take the average price and use that first (this can be overridden by using another number).

The template set up is standard, and has many notes included to ensure everybody knows what fields are for what and how to interact with them. There are no case-sensitive fields (a heavy majority of them don't even require a specific word or phrase - simply entering something into the field will trigger the event), but including commas with prices is a definite plus.

Although it does support weapons and armor, those features are very limited (as I haven't woven through all shop items yet) but will be included as I get to them.

If you decide to take a look at it, I would very much like feedback, as it's a giant list of code, and hopefully will one day be a central tool for all shops.

Best regards, Kitten Tale 22:42, 3 August 2011 (CDT)

RE: Formatting

MapleWiki:Formatting has been established to help reach a consensus on formatting guidelines. It probably does feel like I'm just making all of these choices for the Wiki without getting input from others, and it really shouldn't be like that. Kitten Tale 00:02, 9 August 2011 (CDT)

Thank you

I don't know what I was thinking - for some reason, it looked like Power, instead of Rower. Thank you for correcting that mistake. Kitten Tale 17:14, 17 August 2011 (CDT)

No prob. ToaArrol

Regarding the looks of various pages.

Hi, I just dropped by to say I dislike the look of current page formatting, specifically items such as Diamond Dagger and Reverse Myst Blue. All those boxes... the one that draws the most complaint from me is the box at the bottom of Diamond Dagger listing all "Thief Daggers". I'm sorry it's just a peeve of mine and it's so... chunky. However I feel like a good solution would be to make a page, Daggers, which would be nice and slender, and link to that wherever you have to. --MapleTaurus 20:19, 7 September 2011 (CDT)

Well, we need to categorize all of these properly and the infobox feels more clean and a visual look would be more attractive. `ToaArrol

I recognize the need for categorization and cleanliness. I'm sorry, but because I'm working on a bunch of stuff, I reverted Diamond Dagger back to how I originally had it. If you take a look at the links available within that page, one can easily go and look at all Daggers or they can go look at other equip categories through Item Category. In my system, which is still being worked on as you can see by Daggers, there is a central directory of categories, which links to all items, and all items link back to the central directory. There will be no more space taken up by the large box at the bottom of Reverse Myst Blue for example. That goes a long way for cleanliness. --MapleTaurus 21:41, 7 September 2011 (CDT)

Well, I'm trying to go for convience as well, and just place all available eequipment on one small piece. It's more efficient and saves more work.

Some things are just better if you don't skimp on work. OK, if you are truly set on using the boxes, that's something I will have to endure.

Well, part of the wiki is to bring information and a sense of appeal, and the old pages were looking bland.

RE: Recent edits to the infoboxes

I wanted to applaud you for extending extra functionalities in the item infobox. However, the instructions I'm a bit worried on. Remember that the infobox takes direct values when calculating categories, so the instructions need to allow editors to properly use the templates, especially editors who will take everything face value and may not know enough about the infobox to enter a correct value.

The only problems I see with this the "class" value for Hearts - Class is for the character class (Dual Blade, etc.), so Pirate would be more appropriate - as well as listing 'common' for the newly created categories (there is always a chance something could differ from the norm of being common [perhaps a pendant that requires Bowmaster for example]).

Otherwise, you're doing a great job, and I'm very glad there will be someone else to help modify the boxes in the event that I cannot. Keep up the good work! Kitten Tale 01:18, 10 September 2011 (CDT)

Thank you. When I looked over the infoboxes, it looked easier than I thought, though I can't say the same for the Skill infobox I'm working on. I may need some help on that. ~ToaArrol

RE: Badges

I noticed you added a new category. Are these similar or different than Medals? I couldn't find any information elsewhere on the wiki, besides the collectible badges from various areas. Kitten Tale 13:01, 25 September 2011 (CDT)

Badges are a different category than medals. If you watched recent Tespia videos on Ascension, you will notice we will gain Monster Park, a party quest that allows you to gain these badges. They have a slot of their own and their stats are randomized. ~ToaArrol

Oh, alright then. Thanks for the clarification; I was a bit confused. Kitten Tale 15:43, 25 September 2011 (CDT)

Item infobox additions

Hi ToaArrol,

I'm posting to let you know about two new additions I made to the Item infobox, both of which should help identify certain items easier.

These two new fields are gachapon and event.

When filling in those fields with, lets say "y":

| gachapon = y
| event = y

This will add a banner towards the top of the infobox that helps identify that it is a gachapon or event item (also specially color-coded to make it easier to notice). Categories are also added (Gachapon items and Event items respectively).

If you come across any event or gachapon items, feel free to add in the event or gachapon code. Kitten Tale 16:28, 25 September 2011 (CDT)

Wow, that's truly impressive! I'll do that as well. ~ ToaArrol

An idea

Hi again. I've been pondering an idea lately, which would add a lot more work to the pile, but also provide another facet of knowledge for players who want to get more information.

Because the infobox itself can only hold so much before it becomes just another laundry list, I was thinking that perhaps we could also include an in-game screen shot, aligned to the left of the page, to show players what individual items look like in-game.

What are your thoughts? Kitten Tale 11:45, 28 September 2011 (CDT)

So basically, you're saying like adding an in game example to the infoboxes. ~ToaArrol

Not exactly. It would be a page-by-page basis, and would not be part of the infobox itself. Images would be added manually (however the code would be the same as adding an image, just aligned to the left).Kitten Tale 13:02, 28 September 2011 (CDT)

Hmm, I may have to see an example for this one. ~ToaArrol

I have an example set up here. Kitten Tale 20:58, 30 September 2011 (CDT)
Oh I get you now. To be honest, I had a similar idea before you mentioned this. But I have an idea to get better quality.
I'd be interested in hearing it. Kitten Tale 21:20, 30 September 2011 (CDT)
It's done now, but I don't understand why we should make the picture larger.
I made it larger so it doesn't appear too small. Also, when the picture is small, the frame text ("A player wearing a Leather Cap.") becomes distorted as well. I tried adding white space, but to no avail. Kitten Tale 19:33, 1 October 2011 (CDT)

Monster infobox idea

I just recently made certain fields optional in the Monster infobox, after I ran across an event monster that didn't have the stats that it was asking. I'm now wondering if monsters should not include all of those detailed stats anymore, since they're not visible anymore. This would also simplify the monster infobox and be much easier to keep updated. What are your thoughts? Kitten Tale 23:56, 1 October 2011 (CDT)

AFK

I have school work nowadays so I cant edit as much. Ill try my best on weekends. Kennytran4 15:22, 17 October 2011 (CDT)

Sorry

I already had Mapletip strip me of my admin powers, so I cant ban or suspend anyone. Course, you seem like an excellent candidate for a new administrator, try contacting him to apply for admin if you have the time. Good work with helping out the wiki ^.^ --Yao12310 20:13, 18 October 2011 (CDT)

I have already PMed Stephen on Mapletip and I'm hoping he recieves my message. But thank you anyway. ToaArrol 22:48, 18 October 2011 (CDT)

I have made you an admin, please make sure you abide by policy and within ethical reason. Failure to do so will result in removal of adminship. Do not step over bounds and keep your admin powers only for the sole purpose of cleaning the wiki. Mapletip 23:44, 29 October 2011 (CDT)

Thank you very much. ToaArrol 23:56, 29 October 2011 (CDT)

Congratulations

A little late, but just wanted to congratulate you on your adminship. Now whyd you delete my guide... There goes several hours of my life T_T Jk Jk, good luck with your complete overhaul of the wiki. ^.^ --Yao12310 11:01, 26 November 2011 (CST)

Question

Before I start, congratulations on adminship! Hope we work together to make this a better wiki! Now onto business: Do synthesizers such as Vicious synthesize weapons/armors anymore? If so I need to go back to my revisions and redo them :P {{SUBST:kennytran4}} 06:00, 31 October 2011 (CDT) Template:Kennytran4

Any NPC that could snythesize weapons/armors is now a Durability repair NPC. ToaArrol 13:38, 31 October 2011 (CDT)

Am I on the right track in editing?

Am I doing it right? I know I am new to editing wikis, but am I on the right track by going to the random page button and fixing things on pages that I see outdated information on? I just assume I should ask you since 1) I've noticed that you heavily improved the article on Ultimate Adventurers I wrote this morning as well as taken some of my suggestions from the discussion pages and 2) you're an admin. Constructive criticism would be appreciated. I know I need to learn more about how to edit with Wiki software next time I have time to sit down and learn it(probably early to mid-December). --Mystictiki 21:57, 28 November 2011 (CST)
