Banning Guidelines

Hi, you might want to refer to the Vandalism Policy when banning people after they vandalize a page. The warnings do help, they might stop their vandalism when they're warned. By the way, why did you ban CortezUrbina855, DoryPoulsen20, HaffnerMunford756, HarbaughBreed632 when they did not make any edits? Yongjianrong 21:43, 4 June 2012 (CDT)

My mistake, I guess after dealing with all these vandalisms and these random users coming out of the woodwork with odd names, I started going out of control there. I won't let it happen again. I'll remove the bans. ToaArrol 22:41, 4 June 2012 (CDT)

Monster infobox Template

Hi, I haven't been mapling for a long while. Just one question, does the 'Species' in Template:Monster infobox serve any purpose? Yongjianrong 23:49, 19 November 2011 (CST)

Yea, you are able to determine the species of a monster by looking at their stats in the Crusader Codex. ToaArrol 23:55, 19 November 2011 (CST)

Ok, one problem I see with the skill infobox template is that the background is grey, which makes the wordings impossible to see under a low-contrast screen. Do you know how to change the colour?

I think that articles should be categorised. Currently they're quite messed up as the same type of articles are put in different categories. For instance, Energy Bolt. It should be categorised under Category:Magician Skills, then the category named Category:Magician Skills will be categorised under Category:Skills. It's supposed to be something like a hierarchy. Do help to categorise the articles if you have time, thank you. Yongjianrong 01:40, 20 November 2011 (CST)

Sure, but it's best that you let me work on the skill infobox, it can be complicated. Just leave a complaint and I can work on the categorization thing. Also for the categorization thing, you'd have to add them manually.ToaArrol 01:46, 20 November 2011 (CST)

Adminship

Hi, if you would like to be an admin, you should find MapleTip. His name is Stephen on MapleTip. Yongjianrong 00:50, 16 October 2011 (CDT)

Is he active? ~[[ToaArrol]

I guess so, I haven't been to MapleTip for a long time, he should reply within a week. By the way, if you see any vandalism, feel free to post a note on my talk page and I'll stop the person. Yongjianrong 01:02, 16 October 2011 (CDT)

Oh yes, and also, you can use '~~~~' at the end of your sentence to add your name, the date and time, saves your time.

Ok, I'm messaging him now. I'll tell him you sent me. Thank you very much. ToaArrol 01:11, 16 October 2011 (CDT)

A new infobox

I have a new experimental infobox set up and working (finally) after the couple of days I've been working on it for the past couple of days.

This infobox is used for shops and should be a great feature once fully completed.

Formatting on this is much easier for new users and makes implementing much easier for those with limited Wiki code skills. It's also nice in that, unless the price is not average, it will take the average price and use that first (this can be overridden by using another number).

The template set up is standard, and has many notes included to ensure everybody knows what fields are for what and how to interact with them. There are no case-sensitive fields (a heavy majority of them don't even require a specific word or phrase - simply entering something into the field will trigger the event), but including commas with prices is a definite plus.

Although it does support weapons and armor, those features are very limited (as I haven't woven through all shop items yet) but will be included as I get to them.

If you decide to take a look at it, I would very much like feedback, as it's a giant list of code, and hopefully will one day be a central tool for all shops.

Best regards, Kitten Tale 22:42, 3 August 2011 (CDT)

RE: Formatting

MapleWiki:Formatting has been established to help reach a consensus on formatting guidelines. It probably does feel like I'm just making all of these choices for the Wiki without getting input from others, and it really shouldn't be like that. Kitten Tale 00:02, 9 August 2011 (CDT)

Thank you

I don't know what I was thinking - for some reason, it looked like Power, instead of Rower. Thank you for correcting that mistake. Kitten Tale 17:14, 17 August 2011 (CDT)

No prob. ToaArrol

Regarding the looks of various pages.

Hi, I just dropped by to say I dislike the look of current page formatting, specifically items such as Diamond Dagger and Reverse Myst Blue. All those boxes... the one that draws the most complaint from me is the box at the bottom of Diamond Dagger listing all "Thief Daggers". I'm sorry it's just a peeve of mine and it's so... chunky. However I feel like a good solution would be to make a page, Daggers, which would be nice and slender, and link to that wherever you have to. --MapleTaurus 20:19, 7 September 2011 (CDT)

Well, we need to categorize all of these properly and the infobox feels more clean and a visual look would be more attractive. `ToaArrol

I recognize the need for categorization and cleanliness. I'm sorry, but because I'm working on a bunch of stuff, I reverted Diamond Dagger back to how I originally had it. If you take a look at the links available within that page, one can easily go and look at all Daggers or they can go look at other equip categories through Item Category. In my system, which is still being worked on as you can see by Daggers, there is a central directory of categories, which links to all items, and all items link back to the central directory. There will be no more space taken up by the large box at the bottom of Reverse Myst Blue for example. That goes a long way for cleanliness. --MapleTaurus 21:41, 7 September 2011 (CDT)

Well, I'm trying to go for convience as well, and just place all available eequipment on one small piece. It's more efficient and saves more work.

Some things are just better if you don't skimp on work. OK, if you are truly set on using the boxes, that's something I will have to endure.

Well, part of the wiki is to bring information and a sense of appeal, and the old pages were looking bland.

RE: Recent edits to the infoboxes

I wanted to applaud you for extending extra functionalities in the item infobox. However, the instructions I'm a bit worried on. Remember that the infobox takes direct values when calculating categories, so the instructions need to allow editors to properly use the templates, especially editors who will take everything face value and may not know enough about the infobox to enter a correct value.

The only problems I see with this the "class" value for Hearts - Class is for the character class (Dual Blade, etc.), so Pirate would be more appropriate - as well as listing 'common' for the newly created categories (there is always a chance something could differ from the norm of being common [perhaps a pendant that requires Bowmaster for example]).

Otherwise, you're doing a great job, and I'm very glad there will be someone else to help modify the boxes in the event that I cannot. Keep up the good work! Kitten Tale 01:18, 10 September 2011 (CDT)

Thank you. When I looked over the infoboxes, it looked easier than I thought, though I can't say the same for the Skill infobox I'm working on. I may need some help on that. ~ToaArrol

RE: Badges

I noticed you added a new category. Are these similar or different than Medals? I couldn't find any information elsewhere on the wiki, besides the collectible badges from various areas. Kitten Tale 13:01, 25 September 2011 (CDT)

Badges are a different category than medals. If you watched recent Tespia videos on Ascension, you will notice we will gain Monster Park, a party quest that allows you to gain these badges. They have a slot of their own and their stats are randomized. ~ToaArrol

Oh, alright then. Thanks for the clarification; I was a bit confused. Kitten Tale 15:43, 25 September 2011 (CDT)

Item infobox additions

Hi ToaArrol,

I'm posting to let you know about two new additions I made to the Item infobox, both of which should help identify certain items easier.

These two new fields are gachapon and event.

When filling in those fields with, lets say "y":

| gachapon = y
| event = y

This will add a banner towards the top of the infobox that helps identify that it is a gachapon or event item (also specially color-coded to make it easier to notice). Categories are also added (Gachapon items and Event items respectively).

If you come across any event or gachapon items, feel free to add in the event or gachapon code. Kitten Tale 16:28, 25 September 2011 (CDT)

Wow, that's truly impressive! I'll do that as well. ~ ToaArrol

An idea

Hi again. I've been pondering an idea lately, which would add a lot more work to the pile, but also provide another facet of knowledge for players who want to get more information.

Because the infobox itself can only hold so much before it becomes just another laundry list, I was thinking that perhaps we could also include an in-game screen shot, aligned to the left of the page, to show players what individual items look like in-game.

What are your thoughts? Kitten Tale 11:45, 28 September 2011 (CDT)

So basically, you're saying like adding an in game example to the infoboxes. ~ToaArrol

Not exactly. It would be a page-by-page basis, and would not be part of the infobox itself. Images would be added manually (however the code would be the same as adding an image, just aligned to the left).Kitten Tale 13:02, 28 September 2011 (CDT)

Hmm, I may have to see an example for this one. ~ToaArrol

I have an example set up here. Kitten Tale 20:58, 30 September 2011 (CDT)
Oh I get you now. To be honest, I had a similar idea before you mentioned this. But I have an idea to get better quality.
I'd be interested in hearing it. Kitten Tale 21:20, 30 September 2011 (CDT)
It's done now, but I don't understand why we should make the picture larger.
I made it larger so it doesn't appear too small. Also, when the picture is small, the frame text ("A player wearing a Leather Cap.") becomes distorted as well. I tried adding white space, but to no avail. Kitten Tale 19:33, 1 October 2011 (CDT)

Monster infobox idea

I just recently made certain fields optional in the Monster infobox, after I ran across an event monster that didn't have the stats that it was asking. I'm now wondering if monsters should not include all of those detailed stats anymore, since they're not visible anymore. This would also simplify the monster infobox and be much easier to keep updated. What are your thoughts? Kitten Tale 23:56, 1 October 2011 (CDT)

I have made you an admin, please make sure you abide by policy and within ethical reason. Failure to do so will result in removal of adminship. Do not step over bounds and keep your admin powers only for the sole purpose of cleaning the wiki. Mapletip 23:44, 29 October 2011 (CDT)

Thank you very much. ToaArrol 23:56, 29 October 2011 (CDT)

A little late, but just wanted to congratulate you on your adminship. Now whyd you delete my guide... There goes several hours of my life T_T Jk Jk, good luck with your complete overhaul of the wiki. ^.^ --Yao12310 11:01, 26 November 2011 (CST)

Question

Before I start, congratulations on adminship! Hope we work together to make this a better wiki! Now onto business: Do synthesizers such as Vicious synthesize weapons/armors anymore? If so I need to go back to my revisions and redo them :P {{SUBST:kennytran4}} 06:00, 31 October 2011 (CDT) Template:Kennytran4

Any NPC that could snythesize weapons/armors is now a Durability repair NPC. ToaArrol 13:38, 31 October 2011 (CDT)

Am I on the right track in editing?

Am I doing it right? I know I am new to editing wikis, but am I on the right track by going to the random page button and fixing things on pages that I see outdated information on? I just assume I should ask you since 1) I've noticed that you heavily improved the article on Ultimate Adventurers I wrote this morning as well as taken some of my suggestions from the discussion pages and 2) you're an admin. Constructive criticism would be appreciated. I know I need to learn more about how to edit with Wiki software next time I have time to sit down and learn it(probably early to mid-December). --Mystictiki 21:57, 28 November 2011 (CST)

Well you're doing ok, but we have tools made recently to make the pages look better. While you're writing pages, it's necessary that you write the pages with professional grammar. I don't want to see pages filled with only terms you see in the game.

Infoboxes
Infoboxes are templates that alleviate a lot of work by requiring the user to input a limited amount of data.
Infoboxes are used as a primary formatting tool to help create a more uniform structure.
Below is a collection of infoboxes found on MapleWiki.
NPC-related
Shop NPCs - Non-Shop NPCs - Monsters (Drop table)
Item-related
Shop stock - Items (Use) (Etc) (Set-Up)
Misc.
Skills - Professions - Quests - Game version

Second, if you see a page that you think should be deleted, add the {{Delete}} template.

Main Page Proposal

Didn't you indicate earlier this month that you wanted to change the main page? You can use this Main_Page/editcopy to test out the edits and then put it up for proposal. {{SUBST:kennytran4}} 14:26, 29 November 2011 (CST)

What's this? MapleWiki is evolving!

It's amazing how fast this wiki is gaining new articles! I mean, we already have pages for cannons and dual bowguns! --BlogDog123 18:34, 2 December 2011 (CST)

Well our contributions are responsible. Of course,we still have a LONG way to go in updating. ToaArrol 20:24, 2 December 2011 (CST)

That reminds me... where did you get the data on bowguns/cannons? {{SUBST:kennytran4}} 00:03, 3 December 2011 (CST)

Southperry is a very reliable source for accurate information. It's a necessity to go there for the latest information possible. ToaArrol 00:16, 3 December 2011 (CST)

Extractions: http://www.southperry.net/forumdisplay.php?f=18
The Character data: http://www.southperry.net/showthread.php?t=51222

Well, I see some of the edits you made so far... They have two classes, Pirates and Cannoneer. I was wondering if we could just do it as class Pirates only? This is to make it in line with Kataras being in the Thief class and not the Dual Blade class and also Dual Bows being in class Mercedes instead of class Bowman. {{SUBST:kennytran4}} 04:35, 3 December 2011 (CST)

Actually, don't mind about the Mercedes, they are a separate entity to the adventurers, but what about the Cannoneer and their cannons? Cannoneers are part of the Adventurers/Explorers, much like the Dual Bladers.

You can try adding only Dual Blade or Cannoneer. It may probably recognize it as Thief/Pirate categories.

Notice

Just to warn you in advance, I am going on holidays on the 29th of December to the 31st of January. {{SUBST:kennytran4}} 21:26, 10 December 2011 (CST)

That's cool. Happy Holidays. ToaArrol 21:59, 10 December 2011 (CST)

A favour?

Can you change the colours for Template:Tools to maybe a brown colour or a gold colour? I'm not good with choosing HTML colours D: Thanks! {{SUBST:kennytran4}} 16:12, 16 December 2011 (CST)

Also, where do you obtain Legendary Weapons? I dont play Maplestory anymore so I don't know where...

You can buy it at a Coin Shop in which it sells Legendary Weapons. I gotta take screenshots of the prices. ToaArrol 00:11, 17 December 2011 (CST)

One more thing, could you also make | knockback also work as well as | rateofknockback in the item infobox? {{SUBST:kennytran4}} 02:12, 18 December 2011 (CST)

What do you think?

It reduces clutter in the set pages and organises it in one central location, thoughts? {{SUBST:kennytran4}} 00:56, 20 December 2011 (CST)

Not bad but I think you should catergorize the equipment from the weapons to make it look more stable and I'd love to see how it looks on a page. ToaArrol 01:18, 20 December 2011 (CST)

Vandalism Again

A guy named Theprofit vandlised (spelling) the main class pages. Go to recent changes and you'll know. --BlogDog123 13:42, 30 December 2011 (CST)

I can't edit as much as I used to anymore since I started a new school which is more academically focused ... so yeah {{SUBST:kennytran4}} 04:08, 10 February 2012 (CST)

Though I can edit on weekends though which I'll try to do as much editing as I can.

Ok, no rush ToaArrol 14:39, 10 February 2012 (CST)

I've added a nifty comments tag that can be used as you can see on the [1] page. I tried adding it to Template:Magician_Hats and it seems to work really nicely with all the pages that include that template. Sweet don't you think? Feel free to add it wherever you deem fit. 19:36, 26 June 2012 (CDT)

Template:!

Hey ToaArrol,

I just wanted to make a friendly suggestion (since you're an admin on MapleWiki). "Template:!" is a crucial template that keeps a lot of our work together, and it should never be changed under any circumstances. That being said, could you protect it from all edits, registered or otherwise? Kitten Tale (talk) 16:22, 20 July 2012 (CDT)

Familiars

(PS: Thanks for protecting "Template:!")

From my understanding, the wiki isn't updated to the point where the cards used to summon familiars are mentioned.

I'm updating a drop table and saw one of the cards listed. Since I have nothing to go on, I'm going to start listing them as Familiar Cards, if that's not a problem with you.

Thanks! Kitten Tale (talk) 19:24, 20 July 2012 (CDT)

Perfect. Just so you know, we'll also have to be updated on v.1.12 skills and equipment, including Nebulites and Alien Sockets.ToaArrol (talk) 21:00, 20 July 2012 (CDT)

I don't even know what those are, so I won't be much help for now. I'll continue to update event and old stuff though. Kitten Tale (talk) 22:34, 20 July 2012 (CDT)

Well, I took care of skills like the revamped Thief skills. Soon, we'll have to update Pirates as well. Remember to check Southperry and Hidden Street for Updates. ToaArrol (talk) 21:00, 21 July 2012 (CDT)

Some things:
1) Familiar Cards are listed as Familiars on the Wiki, so I'm updating accordingly. Some pages were already created, and is consistent with in-game descriptions.
2) I want to revisit the templates we've been adding to pages. Mainly because some of them, like the Blood Snowboard, seem extremely cluttered with all of the boxes. I want to investigate a way we can clean up the stuff we've already re-vamped so that it's:
• Readable
• Consistent
• Relevant
A lot of those templates have been irrelevant to the general article and belong in separate articles.
3) I'm not sure how much power you have as an admin, but I would like to investigate collapsible tables. Mainly because it could render some of the templates more helpful if we could collapse certain sections.
4) I saw a couple hidden categories and I'm pretty happy about them. I was wondering how you did that and if I'm able to do that, because some of them could be easily hidden and save clutter at the bottom.
5) I've been lazily updating the Renegades shop items by adding notes (since they're just copies of existing weapons).
6) With regards to drop lists, I'm going to stop adding the following:
Orange Imp
Gemstone Imp
Nebulite Box
Mysterious Artifact
Star Dust
Cosmos Dust Solidifier
The main reason is because they're dropped by essentially everything, and thus is redundant to list.
7) I'm going to suggest that the following are the highest priority entries:
• Renegades Festival-related.
• Familiar Cards (I will be uploading the full card image and placing it as a link to the articles, because the full image is pretty large).
8) I would like to, at some point, compose full-scale images of areas, as the mini-maps don't really do areas justice.
9) If possible, I would love if you could make a Guide namespace for the wiki, so all of the guides could be moved there. Guides would be easier to find if they were in their own group anyways.
Any questions, comments, etc. let me know on my talk page. Kitten Tale (talk) 23:47, 21 July 2012 (CDT)

Drop Tables

I'm testing out a new way to figure out which monsters drop a certain item.

It's being maintained through the Drop Table infobox and currently only supports items from the first line of each category.

So if you see any categories that have been added that are not created that deal with items, they will be added later, made hidden, and then can be used for item pages to create comprehensive lists based off these category listings.

The format for these categories is: "Category:Monsters that drop {Item name}"

Note that the name must be spelled correctly in the drop table, otherwise it won't be added.

I would like your opinion on this, to see if I will go forward with adding the rest of the lines. Kitten Tale (talk) 16:26, 22 July 2012 (CDT)

I believe I have seen some of those categories. How will we be able to see those categories then if they'll be hidden? ToaArrol (talk)

Nevermind. ToaArrol (talk) 17:14, 22 July 2012 (CDT)

A neat extension

I thought this was sort of neat: [2]. Basically, it ranks users by number of contributions. Kitten Tale (talk) 21:31, 25 July 2012 (CDT)

Don't we have that already? ToaArrol (talk) 23:00, 25 July 2012 (CDT)

You would think so, but nope. Special:Version doesn't list any functionality like that, and the Special pages don't list anything similar to it. Kitten Tale (talk) 23:41, 25 July 2012 (CDT)

Ohh, well it does sound kinda neat, and it would be good to know who is the best contributor. ToaArrol (talk) 23:50, 25 July 2012 (CDT)

Outdated guides

It has come to my attention that the outdated guide template states that the guide should not be deleted. As the only active administrator, I was wondering whether it might be better for the wiki if you eliminated redundant guides based on quasi-ancient versions. --Arch3ops (talk) 13:29, 26 July 2012 (CDT)

Well, it's meant for guides that was completed and in the case whether someone wants to come back and revise. ToaArrol (talk) 16:58, 26 July 2012 (CDT)

Hum, good point, but the chance of that happening is quite small regardless. Some of them are from, say, at least five years back. --Arch3ops (talk) 17:37, 26 July 2012 (CDT)

Well, how about a 6 month limit, any guide as of now that hasn't been updated in 6 months will be deleted? ToaArrol (talk) 17:45, 26 July 2012 (CDT)

Fair enough. (: On the process of labeling the guides, though, I figured out halfway through that if I write the template in only by its name it'd get sent to the category, I made two categories that must be deleted, Category: Incomplete Guides and Category: Outdated Guides. Could you delete these whenever you can?

Some accounts were created

Two accounts were created recently, both exhibiting spam-related goals.

I removed parts of their userpages that seemed suspicious.

I think they are candidates to be banned. Kitten   (talk 14:39, 28 July 2012 (CDT)

An extension that may be useful to admins

I was browsing through MediaWiki and found this. It's an extension that allows you to mass-delete pages. Thought it might be useful if spam bots create a bunch of worthless pages, or if sock-puppet accounts are created where websites are listed in their user page. Kitten   (talk 16:21, 29 July 2012 (CDT)

New Template

Sorry for all of the messages lately. I want to show you a newly created template and see how you like it before I attempt to push it forward.

The template can be found here.

I have not tested it yet.

What it does is it allows editors to verify the content of the page to ensure accuracy. At the beginning of each month, the clock will reset, and all pages will become unverified. I chose one month because of the frequency of updates. I will probably extend it to two months later on.

It's much easier to use than my other templates. All you do is input the day, the month, and the year you're verifying the page. The template will auto-categorize that into a category called Verified pages. Otherwise, it'll sit in a category called Unverified pages.

I tried to make it as least intrusive as possible, and when it's completely finished, it'll rest at the top of the page.

I will probably not be watching over Recent Changes, so please send me a message at my talk page when you get a chance to look it over. Thanks! Kitten   (talk 01:01, 30 July 2012 (CDT)

How interesting. I wouldl ike to see how this will work out. ToaArrol (talk) 01:43, 30 July 2012 (CDT)

Boss types

It appears (at least to me) that the Type attribute for Boss monsters in the Crusader Codex is no longer being displayed in-game; all instances are labeled as "(null)".

Regular monsters still have the Type attribute.

Can you confirm? Kitten   (talk 00:00, 2 August 2012 (CDT)

Most bosses, like Cygnus, will have the "null" tag appearing on the game. But if you're like me, and have access into the game's .wz files, you'll be able to find the monster types retained for monsters. ToaArrol (talk) 00:18, 2 August 2012 (CDT)

Ah, I see. I don't know how to do that exactly, but I'm not too concerned, since you have the access.
And on a side note, do you think Stephen would grant me Protection rights if I asked him? I know it's not exactly necessary right now, but there are a couple things I would like to do with them. I'm also looking at the main page, and trying to see if I can reorganize it a bit (but if said rights were granted, I wouldn't change anything without your approval, Stephen's approval, and any other approval required). Kitten   (talk 00:33, 2 August 2012 (CDT)
I was thinking about waiting another year before submitting an app for admin, but I'm more interested in protection rights than anything else at the moment. Kitten   (talk 00:37, 2 August 2012 (CDT)

Well, I can't give you Protection rights to normal members, it's prohibited and I don't know if we can do that unless you are made an admin. You might have to give me the information you made so I can post it for you. ToaArrol (talk) 21:26, 2 August 2012 (CDT)

Oh no, I completely understand. 1) You're a new admin. 2) I know I would have to ask Stephen myself; I was just asking your opinion, as you've been here longer than I, and I wasn't available for editing for quite awhile.
In either case, I'm looking to find some MapleStory-related images that could be used as a frame for a cleaner and more Maple-y Main Page. Kitten   (talk 22:42, 2 August 2012 (CDT)

Side Project

Hey Toa,

I'm just letting you know I'm embarking on a side project (partly to help me figure out some of the missing pages) to document the .wz files. This is not a MapleWiki project open to all editors, mainly because of the consequences that could arise from showing users how to get into the .wz files. I will be documenting them in table format at User:Kitten Tale/Item.wz, and would like to invite you to edit (assuming you also know how to view the .wz files).

I have also updated the Item Infobox to allow for an id parameter. I'm not sure how necessary this is at the moment, but I've added it in case we feel like documenting them in something more aesthetically pleasing.

For files that I don't know the names of or do not recognize, I will be uploading them by the internal id number and making a page for them, with the page name being the internal id number. Those will be categorized away in some category for pages that have not been known to exist in MapleStory.

I will update you on this when I get a better head-start on it. I will not be contributing major wiki edits or updates while working on this. By the way, this is just for Item.wz. I do not have the time to do the other .wz files. Kitten   (talk 00:58, 3 August 2012 (CDT)

Monster Book Cards

We'll have to address this issue at some point, but it's not too crucial right now.

Since Monster Book was revamped into Crusader Codex, we still have some updating to do on the Crusader Codex, including the pages for all of these cards.

Technically, the cards still exist, but players don't see an inventory icon, you can only acquire one, and they don't give individual bonuses anymore.

All that leaves is an empty page containing an image, and the set it belongs to (if any).

Should we Item Graveyard them, or update them for current use?

(The concept of Item Graveyarding articles also needs to be addressed later, but that's a whole new project that Stephen would have to be involved in.)

Kitten   (talk 01:44, 16 August 2012 (CDT)

Just update them to current use, they don't give buffs anymore, just remove the buff icon. ToaArrol (talk) 01:46, 16 August 2012 (CDT)

Root Access

Hey Toa!

I was wondering if you have Root access to the system files on MapleTip. If so, I would like to request the following namespaces:

  • Guides
  • Graveyard

My main reason is because these types of pages still show up in article searches, even though they really shouldn't - they're not articles.

Graveyard-ed stuff shouldn't show up either, and infoboxed items with graveyard tags are still showing up in their original categories, which means the infoboxes all need to get a nocat option (or even better - a bot that can do it automatically).

Root Access also means admins can employ bots to clean up articles, by giving the bot accounts root access to do so. (I believe Wikipedia employs hundreds, if not a couple thousand bot accounts that keep a lot of pages updated).

On a wikia for Guild Wars, I believe they had a bot account that formatted previous information directly into a pre-assigned infobox. Pretty mind-blowing.

(On an off-topic note, I'm wondering how we can get more traffic. I know that wikis can be an attractive prospect because of how unlimited you are when making your profile [take mine for example], but I don't think stephen would approve of getting a ton of traffic just because people are creating accounts to have their own personal checklist of how epically-pwning they are.)

I definitely have ideas for the wiki, but a lot of them I can't put into place myself. We're down to 17 active users. Only three of them have more than 50 edits. Either we get a lot of traffic without accoounts, or we're dying as quickly as the main website.

I wonder how active the wikia is. Hmm... Kitten   (talk 20:52, 17 August 2012 (CDT)

Mihile Class

I think we should categorize this as an Explorer, because it has explorer characteristics, and I think by lore standard, Mihile joined the Cygnus Knights - he didn't start as one. Kitten   (talk 13:05, 24 August 2012 (CDT)

No, Mihile's a Cygnus Special Class, he isn't linked to the Explorers. You're probably referring to his beginner section where he has the Explorer skill sets. Mihile still has Cygnus benefits, such as +10% EXP per level and Empress' Blessing. ToaArrol (talk) 15:16, 24 August 2012 (CDT)

Scroll Names

When you have time, please check ALL scrolls's names, quite a few of them don't follow the % Scroll for ___ for ____ format, which the default format we are supposed to use, and it's quite a hassle to check for names. I'd really appreciate if you could rename them, and abbreviate Attack to ATT, too. Thanks!--Arch3ops (talk) 15:00, 31 August 2012 (CDT)

I've been working on that for some time and i'll still get them to GMS standards. ToaArrol (talk) 17:50, 31 August 2012 (CDT)

You're moving the scrolls to __ % format, and incorrectly formatting the names (at least from GMS standard, unless there was a really recent update that changed them). I'd like some clarification if possible please. Kitten   (talk 18:55, 31 August 2012 (CDT)

I know in GMS it's Scroll for ___ for ____ %, but I read somewhere here that the format is what I mentioned above. o___o --Arch3ops (talk) 19:03, 31 August 2012 (CDT)

I've been updating their names on how they are named in their .wz files. It's in there. ToaArrol (talk) 20:59, 31 August 2012 (CDT)

Personally, I think using %% NAME format is cleaner than how they do it in-game. Kitten   (talk 01:03, 1 September 2012 (CDT)

Well, so for future reference, how should I name new scrolls or at what format should I add them to the Drop Lists I updated?

Which new scrolls? ToaArrol (talk) 16:48, 1 September 2012 (CDT)

Apparently, there's plenty of scrolls that don't have pages.... I made these yesterday:

Basically, flight the % part to the end, as according to how it looks to the game. Instead of 60% Scroll for Topwear for STR, it should be Scroll for Topwear for STR 60%. ToaArrol (talk) 21:00, 1 September 2012 (CDT) --Arch3ops (talk) 20:34, 1 September 2012 (CDT)

Will do :) Can you rename them for me? I could compile a list for you of scrolls that need to be changed if it'd make it easier for you!--Arch3ops (talk) 23:31, 1 September 2012 (CDT)

Activity starting now until next Summer

As a seasonal editor, I'm most available during the Summer, and now that school has re-started, I will not have a lot of time to spend here. I'm posting this so you and other editors know that I do plan on returning during large breaks and during the Summer.

I may post sporadically, depending on my work load. Kitten   (talk 18:58, 31 August 2012 (CDT)

Hey!

Sorry for being on and off in regards to my editing... School gets in the way all the time. I'm about halfway through my two week holiday so I may stop editing as rapidly as now. Do you have any emails for outside Wiki contact? So we can discuss some stuff?

Aran Card Idea

Good idea, we should test run it on that page. I was thinking that we also should have hubs for Equipments. For example you could search up Thief Equipment, and on that page you would have all the lists of the equipments.

I'm also thinking of a new template for Maps. We could have the Icon on the top left corner, Name and Road to the right of that and also include additional information on the bottom: Continent, Region (based on the icon i.e Henesys) and Return Point. Below that, we would have the map, and then finally on the bottom of that, Portals, NPCs, Monsters, etc.

Toy Trojan.PNG Kennytran4 talk Stopnow.gif 22:23, 2 October 2012 (CDT)

That doesn't sound half bad, We can test it on the Sandbox. ToaArrol (talk) 19:39, 3 October 2012 (CDT)

Skills and Hyperskills templates

Hello Toa, I have created a guide and I would like to add a section to it which you do not have on Maple Wiki. I am willing to make the template my self. It is about Hyperskills. How do I make a template? I will not abuse it as I spent a prolonged period of time writing my mercedes guide which is voer 5000 words. Also, I was the one who added the EMS and GMS update/events to this page.

Thanks!

Also can you check out my guide?

Mercedes Guide

Thanks!

User:Unblemished

Well, making templates are a bit more difficult thing than making guides, it takes some time getting used to and if you don't know what you're doing, you can mess up. ToaArrol (talk) 12:15, 6 October 2012 (CDT)

Don't worry, I already made one for hyper skills for mercedes

New Idea

Hey Toa, I was thinking. Why not have an interactive monster book like maplestory? Like You click on a monster and it shows the details. This way we can totally destroy hidden street

User:Unblemished

Our wiki is a part of the MapleTip site, which is affiliated with Hidden Street, we are partners, not competitors. ToaArrol (talk) 14:28, 18 October 2012 (CDT)

Oh I see. I never knew. Well could we create an interactive monster card book? Similar to GMS, you click on a monster and all details appear

Editing

Allow me to update the monsters for Maple Wiki. I have all the information saved.

if you want, but use these templates. Template:Monster infobox and Template:Item infoboxToaArrol (talk) 21:02, 20 October 2012 (CDT)

I've been updating drop lists of monsters as per current GMS version, though it's a very long process and I haven't been able to do much editing, so far, I have only updated the 1-10 monsters listed in Full Monster List. What exactly were you planning on editing, if I may ask? Do use your signature so I know who I'm talking to. xD

well, I got much things to do, but i got a lot of things in real life that I can't do much. Also, to add your signature, just type "~" four times. ToaArrol (talk) 00:42, 21 October 2012 (CDT)

It's Unblemished aka. Tony I plan on adding complete lists of monsters including event monsters.

Main Page Editing

There are parts of the main page such as the current events that I would like to change. This is because they are outdated. It says GMS is on Champions Update, but we are on Masquerade Update.

The main page can only be changed by admins, you'll have to wait until one can do the changes. ToaArrol (talk) 13:24, 29 October 2012 (CDT)

Scroll Names (2)

This page drives me nuts. -> List of Scrolls If I were to remake every single Scroll page following the GMS format Scroll for ____ for ____ #%, would you delete all of these abominations? It's been awful trying to put scrolls on drop lists when I can't find the name of the article to link through. ._____. Much appreciated, --Arch3ops (talk) 22:17, 1 November 2012 (CDT)

You mean the whole List of Scroll page? ToaArrol (talk) 22:23, 1 November 2012 (CDT)

I didn't scrutinize the page, but I believe it's safe to assume that 99% of those scrolls are titled % Scroll for ___ for ____, but the page is missing a few scrolls that have been named following the GMS format, which makes it extremely hard to list them, since it's a huge hassle to have to keep searching to double-check the name of each scroll. --Arch3ops (talk) 09:30, 2 November 2012 (CDT)

So you want me to delete the whole page. ToaArrol (talk) 23:41, 2 November 2012 (CDT)

No, not at all! I'd update the whole thing, but I'm asking permission to re-make scroll pages following the GMS format, which would involve you deleting the old scroll pages afterwards. --Arch3ops (talk) 10:30, 3 November 2012 (CDT)

Sure, you have my permission. I can't be around all the time to do it myself. ToaArrol (talk) 14:38, 3 November 2012 (CDT)

Pay Attention to your edits please

These are new skills about to be released in GMS. I am going to edit the icon as soon as the skill picture is available

New Class Guides

Hey toa, which class guides should I do next? I've done Mechanic + Mercedes.

Also, please change the link on the main page to GMS Rise Against Update

Unblemished (talk) 01:30, 15 November 2012 (CST)

You can make any guide you want, that's up to you. ToaArrol (talk) 02:31, 15 November 2012 (CST)

Okay, by the way, is there a way to make the data of the site more accessible similar to hidden streets. We are beating Hidden Street in data, but they are beating us in visual appeal and accessibility of data. In order to attract more users, we need like a side bar with all the categories of item, monsters, use, etc. More accessability means usage of the site and its wonderful data will go up. I will be willing to help you improve the site in any way possible.

Unblemished (talk) 04:54, 15 November 2012 (CST)

I told you, we're affiliated with Hidden Street. ToaArrol (talk) 13:27, 15 November 2012 (CST)

I personally enjoy the Wiki style we have here better than Hidden Street, and like Toa pointed out, we're not in a competition against them. Since our website is completely functional and is very easy to explore, or at least in my opinion, we should focus more in the content than the appearance. If you think certain articles aren't orderly enough, you're more than welcome to use the infoboxes that have been made for our Wiki. Also, if you scroll down on the main page, there ARE links to items, monsters, and etc, though many pages do need to be linked to those categories, which could be something you could do. --Arch3ops (talk) 17:09, 15 November 2012 (CST)

Can we focus on the content first? ._. It's very hard to do it all by myself Toy Trojan.PNG Kennytran4 talk Stopnow.gif 04:15, 16 November 2012 (CST)

I already discussed that with you. We agreed to finish all content first. I shall continue to make these guides. Unblemished (talk) 05:00, 16 November 2012 (CST)

I apologize for not getting much done, seeing I am now swamped with work and other life issues. ToaArrol (talk) 19:11, 16 November 2012 (CST)

Templates

As I'm adding the equip templates to the pages I created yesterday, I noticed that there's no template for the Warrior Capes... Just thought I'd let you know, it's not my area of expertise, though I could try making one if needed based on the other Templates. --Arch3ops (talk) 05:03, 5 December 2012 (CST)

Wanted page

It'd be a good idea to possibly add a page where we can write articles we need, maybe? I found out we have close to none Mastery Book pages and zero Nebulite pages, so.. --Arch3ops (talk) 23:12, 10 December 2012 (CST)

if you want to. ToaArrol (talk) 23:15, 10 December 2012 (CST)

Hm, well, wasn't there a page listing our progress? Or was that just for the infoboxes? --Arch3ops (talk) 01:03, 11 December 2012 (CST)

It was for infoboxes. ToaArrol (talk) 12:50, 11 December 2012 (CST)

Oh, okay. Would it be a good idea to put it on the main page?--Arch3ops (talk) 15:41, 11 December 2012 (CST)

Sure, we can use attention for the needed pages. But only admins can edit the main page. So give me what you have down. ToaArrol (talk) 23:06, 11 December 2012 (CST)

What do you think? Wanted Pages. --Arch3ops (talk) 13:02, 13 December 2012 (CST)

Not bad so far. ToaArrol (talk) 13:06, 13 December 2012 (CST)

That's all I can think of right now, I'll check on what other PQs we don't have info on later. :) --Arch3ops (talk) 13:56, 13 December 2012 (CST)

I'll see if I can dish up more guides for PQS and classes ASAP. Also, I want to work on the Moon Bunny PQ Guide atm because it's listed on the PQ page. However, there is already a page on it with outdated information. Do I start a new page and label the old one outdated? What would the new one be called? Unblemished (talk) 23:16, 17 December 2012 (CST)

Possible New Addition To Maple Wiki

Hello! I have a suggestion for MapleWiki. The suggestion is we add a section called Recently Added Items to the navigation bar. It is for easy navigation to find the latest items released in GMS. Additionally, can we make a place called 'Archive' where we store all old guides and etc because finding up to date guides on the community portal is quite tedious.

Unblemished (talk) 21:56, 5 January 2013 (CST)

Sure. ToaArrol (talk) 22:11, 5 January 2013 (CST)

Thanks! I'll start moving the outdated ones to a new location

By the way, what's your name. I'm Tony

Main Page

Besides that Wanted Pages page, I think it'd be a good idea to add Full Monster List to the main page as well. --Arch3ops (talk) 09:28, 9 January 2013 (CST)
