Game Registration

If you are completely new to MapleStory, please continue reading. If you are not and still want to learn more about the game and the Beginner class, skip to "The Dice Roll" section.

Signing up for the game is simple. Go to the MapleGlobal Website and click the "NX Passport Sign Up" button located on the left side of the website.

Once you click the link, you will be taken to a page and asked for your birthday. Make sure to insert your CORRECT birthday because you will need it later to verify your account for multiple reasons (lost password, deleting unwanted characters, etc.). Also, please be sure that you are over the age of 13, if you are not over 13, you are legally unable to play Maplestory.

On the next page, be sure you read the ToS and other agreements carefully. If you do not read this carefully and in the future you break one of those rules or agreements, you can lose your maplestory account, so please be sure you read and agree.

The next page is the most important step in your registration. You will insert your account name, password, email address, and security questions. Make sure you either know this information by heart or have it written down and in a safe place. You should NEVER give this information to anyone. This means ANYONE, including the administrators of Maplestory.They have your password already, so why do they need it? Giving away this information to others will give them the ability to steal your account and change your information. If you do decide to give the information to a friend or family member, remember to make sure that they can be trusted.

When you're finished, press Next.

You will be asked for your full name, gender, birthday(make sure it's the same one as before),state, postal code (that's your zip code), and ethnicity. Ensure that these are correct as if you win an event, they might want to mail it to you. The last blank isn't that important, but gender will determine how your character will look and what objects they can use and wear from then on.

I suggest only checking the last two boxes on this form, but if you want, you can check the top one as well.

Now press finish.

You will now get a Congratulations message. Check your email and follow the instructions sent to you and you will be officially registered.
Now it is time to download the game.

Downloading The Game

The game download is located at the Mapleglobal website. To download, click the "Game Download Free To Play" located below the login button.

After clicking on the download tab, you will end up at a page where you can choose download the game client.You can choose to either download the entire file (.exe), or in parts (.rar). It is strongly suggested to click the Download the full version(.EXE) but those with slower internet connection can also download the game in parts, so you would be able to download over a few days. Based on your connection, this should take 20 minutes(broadband) to a 6 hours+(dial up). Please be patient. If you download Maplestory as a complete(.exe) file, it could be corrupted. You can either try to re-download(it will be faster the 2nd time round) or try the part files(.rar)

• Be sure to save the file to a place you can easily find it. The Desktop or My Documents are two of the best locations

Now that the file is downloaded, double click it and follow the instructions to install. This process should take 5-15 minutes depending on your computer stats. Once you've installed the game, double click the maplestory icon(the one with a mushroom house) and you just started maplestory!

Logging In and PIN Numbers

Logging into maplestory is relatively simple. Once the loading screens have gone away, you will see an picture for you to input your username and password. Use the username and password you provided in the registration process.

Once you have logged in, you will be asked to choose your PIN number. This number is very important. Losing this number is the main reason why people lose their accounts as if you forget this number, you will not be able to log in. If you do, there is a chance that you can get it back by emailing the Maplestory support team. Please write this down and keep it in a place you will not lose (preferably alongside your username and password).

Choosing Your Server

There are nine servers in Maplestory (Global version). One, named Tespia, was available to Beta Test accounts only, so we will not be talking about it. The eight main servers are called Scania, Bera, Broa, Windia, Khaini, Mardia, Kradia and Bellocan.

Scania

Scania is the oldest and most populated of the servers. This means it is both crowded and social which can be both good and bad depending on how you wish to play. If you want to experience a busy city feeling, choose Scania.

Bera

Bera was the third of the nine servers to come along and used to be a quiet, unovercrowded server. However, Bera is beginning to experience an issue of overcrowding, becoming very busy on weekends.

Broa

Broa came out shortly after Bera. It's population is slightly less than Bera, making it easier to train alone and away from the crowd when you wish. However, it has just enough people to allow you to trade and meet people in Channel 1.

Windia

Windia is the fourth server to be launched, having a smaller population than Broa and Bera. However, it currently has a larger population than Khaini.

Khaini

Khaini, the fifth of the nine servers that was launched. It is very quiet, even in the weekends, making solo-training easier. Khaini is expected to have a population similar to that of Windia.

Bellocan

Bellocan, the fourth newest among the nine servers and is filled newcomers, hoping to get a prize from Wizet from an event.

Mardia

Mardia, the third newest among the nine servers. Currently, the population is increasing.

Kradia

Kradia, the second newest among the nine servers. Currently, the population is increasing.

Yellonde

Yellonde, is the newest server amoing the nine servers. The population is starting to increase rapidly.

Galicia

Galicia, is the most latest server of temporarily all ten servers. It use to be be a little quiet, but now, even nexon recommended this one.

Each server contains the exact same world and same locations. The only difference is population, economics and the players there.
Once you create a character in one server, that one character can only play there. You can have a character move from Scania to Broa, or Windia to Bera, and so on by using the World Transfer (Avaliable in Cash Shop) but you can create up to four unique characters per server. That means you can have a total of twenty-eight different characters in the game.

Entering the Game

To enter the game, you double click the server you wish to play in (Bellocan, Khaini, Windia, Broa, Bera, Mardia, Kradia, Scania or Galicia). There you will be given the choice to choose a channel (or CH.). Don't fret because after you choose a channel, you can freely travel between any channel of your choice later on. Choosing a channel doesn't determine where you HAVE to play, only where you start out playing. To choose the channel either double click it or click it once and then click "Go to the Selected World". Channel 1 is mostly used for selling/buying things, so this channel is always the most crowded. It's easier to level up if you go on a channel that has the least people on it. That way, people can't hog the monsters because they won't be there.

Creating your Character

Now that you are in the server and channel of your choice, you get to make your very first character! Double click the "Create a Character" button.
Once in the character creation screen, play around with the options and make a character you like. There isn't that large of a selection, but later on you will get items and equipment so you can customize how you look even more. With the new addition of the Cash Shop, you can even change your hair and skin color. Remember, you can make only four characters per world.

Now that your character looks the way you want him/her to, it's now time to choose your name. I suggest one unique and creative. Names like "Samantha41561" aren't unique. After you have your name, click the button that says "Check". If the name is available, you're almost ready, but DO NOT click the "Okay" button yet, there's more.

The Dice Roll

NOTE: This guide contains a dice roll section for AP points. We would like to inform you that dice roll function is not used anymore in GMS and MapleSEA. If you are a beginner, there is no need as all points are assigned to STR. When you get your job advancement, click A and then click on auto-assign points. Please avoid that section and everytime you level up, press 'a' and press auto-assign. You may continue that system or if you are looking to use a special point build eg. dexless assassin, then you may do so.

The Dice Roll is one of the least-liked parts of the game. Perfectionists can spend up to 45 minutes rolling the random number generator. In a later update, MapleStory decided to add a suggestion box at the bottom, suggesting what professon the current dice roll would be suited for, but is based on the high numbers, making some needed points fall into a wrong category.
Every job type has a unique set of skills.

Magicians use Intelligence and Luck (Int and Luk).
Warriors use Strength and Dexterity (Str and Dex).
Pirates also using Strength and Dexterity (Str and Dex).
Thieves use Dexterity and Luck (Dex and Luk).
Bowmen use Strength and Dexterity (Str and Dex).
