Description

Luck is one of the major stats found in Maplestory, with the others being Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Health Points and Mana Points. This skill should, under normal circumstances, only be raised for two classes, the Thief and rarely Magician(notrecommended). Luck is commonly abbreviated to the term "LUK" within MapleStory and MapleWiki.

Effects

  • Determines the Attack of Thieves
  • Each point of Luck adds 0.0138 base damage for Magicians compared to .04 per point of Intelligence. This is based on the formula {[(Magic*0.8)+(Luck/4)]/18}*(base attack)*0.8
  • Every point of Luck adds 0.5 accuracy and 0.8 avoidability
  • Increases the damage of Lucky Seven, a 1st job thief skill
  • The more Luck you have, the less EXP you lose when you die. Those who have the minimum of 4 luck lose 10% per death, while those with their luck at 75 or above lose around 5% per death.
  • Contrary to popular belief, Luck has never seemed to increase your drop rate, or increase your chances of passing an upgrade scroll. So if someone says that it does, just ignore them.
  • LUK, INT, and DEX are combined to determine Hands.( after chaos patch hands stats are removed)

Where Luck is required

  • Magicians used to require a certain amount of Luck to equip their armor and weapons(sub stats are gone post-tempest).
  • Luck is the main stat for Thieves, meaning that it should have the most AP allocated to it compared to Strength, Dexterity or Intelligence.

Gaining Luck

  • For the most part, Luck is increased by adding Ability Points to it.
  • Luck bonuses are given out in some of the Thief's and Magician's equipments. Other common equipments also give Luck.
  • Scrolling your equipment:
Scroll name 100% 70% 60% 30% 10%
Cape LUK 1 2 2 3 3
Overall LUK 1 2 2 5 5

  • The 4th job skill, Maple Hero, grants +15% Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence and Luck at Maximum Level.
