The journey's been long and hard, but if can make it through the Brawler and Marauder jobs, the door of the Buccaneer will finally be open to you, and through it, you will find the absolute, brutal power unleashed by the master of the Knuckle. Like a sturdy ship among the turbulent waves of the sea, you stand tall in the heart of large groups of enemies and come out on top, demolishing them all with a brutal display of Energy and Power! As soon as you add those first couple of points into your skill book, you will immediately experience the boost from being a Marauder.

Buccaneers, also called "Buccs" for short, are a heavy mobbing class; virtually all of their offensive skills are focused on hitting 3 or more monsters except one. Maneuvering through groups of enemies and obliterating them with high-power mobbing skills is the essence of the class while supportive skills are there to keep your damage at its maximum. The greatest mobbing skill in their arsenal -- Buccaneer Blast -- requires that the user keep their energy fully charged as much as possible. Buccaneers are excellent mobbers, amazing rushers, and are adequate on 1v1 damage, however the player's ability to remain adept at using their new, powerful skills in conjunction with the previously-obtained skills from preceding jobs is what separates an adequate Buccaneer from a great one.

The basic approach in playing this class is to keep Energy charged as often as possible to have access to the wide-sweeping Buccaneer Blast. This can be done using the newly-obtained Dragon Strike, which has a large horizontal and vertical range and dishes out formidable damage to mobs. Along with this, one must also become acquainted with the Nautilus Strike, the universal Adventurer Pirate ultimate. What makes this skill differently used for Buccaneers as opposed to other classes is the ability to Mount Cancel, which is the use of the class-exclusive mount to break out of the stationary cast time during the execution of the attack. Using this aptly will prove to be a great step in controlling your Buccaneer adeptly.

Buccaneers have but one single-target skill in their entire skill pool -- Octopunch -- but this is one of the fastest multi-hitting single-mob skills in the game. Of course, it's not as powerful as other skills from other classes that are more adept at 1v1 combat, such as a Corsair's Rapid Fire in conjunction with Captain's Dignity, but it is swift and effective, although it does require that the user be in close proximity of the target.

Finally, there are the amazingly potent buffs that will make or break your Buccaneer in the long term. Almost immediately, you will want to max Crossbones, as it provides not only a sizeable boost to your damage range, but also improves your Knuckle Mastery. Following that, there is Typhoon Crush, which has the opportunity to completely nullify the defense of the mob being attacked. This will prove to be a very useful skill when attacking mobs and bosses that have a large amount of defense, such as Chaos Pink Bean and Horntail.
