The Big Bang is a patch released in KMS over 3 patches. It included a experience curve, new level requirements for party quests, skill changes, a new UI, and a new class set: the Resistance. Its name was decided by a user poll in which Big Bang got 52% of the votes.[1] In MapleGlobal, the Big Bang occurred on December 7, 2010.

It will be released to MapleSEA on May 2011 [2] and in July 2011 on EMS .

This is the first of a series of new major patches waiting to come out, in their respecting order: Chaos, Jump and Legend.

Changes

This is the biggest patch that MapleStory has ever experienced. Just like how the developers put it "A revamp of the whole game" and "The rebirth of MapleStory". As you can see the first patch brought a lot of changes to the game.

Beginning of Change

  • New interface

  • Quest window improvements
    • Remotely Accept Quest function added
    • Remotely Complete Quest function added
  • Map and mini map changes
    • Most notable being Victoria Island.
  • GMS Cassandra picture has been changed (now has blond hair)
  • Skill stat changes
  • More character creation customization options
  • Formula Changes
    • Accuracy now depends more on level
    • Damage formula now gives more damage
  • Boss level, stat. and exp. points given are changed.
  • Monster level, stat and exp. point given are changed
  • New Edelstein map added (not yet accessible)
  • New animation for skills added
  • Potion price adjustments
    • Weaker potions' cost has been dramatically lowed
  • Drop rate for item increased
  • Lower experience curve
    • lv 1 to 10 remains unchanged
    • 1/5 exp. required to get to lv. 30
    • 1/4 exp. required to get to lv. 70
    • 1/3 exp. required to get to lv. 120
    • 1/2 exp. required to get to lv. 200
  • New 720p resolution
  • New simple mini map for GMS

Skills Changes

Warrior

Swordsman
  • HP Increase: Increases the Maximum HP permanently.
    • Max level 10: Increases the MaxHP with 20%.
    • New skill.
    • Formula: % MaxHP Increase = 2*level
  • Iron Body: Increased Physical Defence for a short period of time.
    • Original Stats: Max level 20: -14MP, +300 W.Def for 200 seconds.
    • Max level 20: -15 MP, +40 W.Def for 300 seconds.
    • Formula: W.Def Increase = 100+10*level; Time = 10*level; MP used = 8+2*RoundDown((level-1)/5)
  • Power Strike: Consume MP to exert a strong blow to the enemy.
    • Original Stats: Max level 20: -11MP, 260% Damage.
    • Max level 20: -12 MP, 260% Damage.
    • Formula: % Damage = 160+5*level; MP used = 5+2*RoundDown((level-1)/5)
  • Slash Blast: Consume MP to attack up to 6 enemies. Requires level 1 Power Strike.
    • Original Stats: Max level 20: -14MP, 180% damage to 6 enemies.
    • Max level 20: -16 HP, 14 HP, 130% damage to 6 enemies.
    • Formula: % Damage = 80+5*level; MP used = 6+2*RoundDown(level/5)
Fighter
  • Weapon Mastery: Improves the mastery of Swords and Axes, as well as increasing the accuracy.
    • Original: Max level 20: +50% mastery, +60 accuracy.
    • Max level 20: 60% Mastery, +20 accuracy. Note: This was split up in Axe Mastery and Sword Mastery.
    • Formula: % Mastery Increase = 10+2*level; Accuracy Increase = 3*level
  • Final Attack: Gives a chance to apply an extra attack without taking extra time. Can only be triggered when equipped with an Axe or a Sword.
    • Original: Max level 20: 40% chance for a Final Attack of 150% damage.
    • Max level 30: 60% chance for a Final Attack of 250% damage. Note: It took time to perform the Final Attack, and it was split up in Final Attack: Axe and Final Attack: Sword.
    • Formula: % Chance = 2*level; % Damage = 100+5*RoundDown(level/2)
  • Improved Fundamentals: Increases the damage for both Power Strike and Slash Blast.
    • Original: Max level 10: Power Strike Damage + 120%, Slash Blast damage + 70%.
    • New Skill.
    • Formula: % Power Strike Damage Increase = 12*level; % Slash Blast Damage Increase = 7*level.
  • Weapon Booster: Consume MP to increase the weapon attack speed with 2 steps. Can only be triggered when equipped with an Axe or a Sword. Requires level 5 Weapon Mastery.
    • Original: Max level 20: -11 MP, 210 seconds duration.
    • Max level 20: -10 HP, -10 MP, 200 seconds duration. Note: This was split up in Axe Booster and Sword Booster.
    • Formula: Time = 10*level; MP used = 31-level
  • Rage: Consume MP to increase the physical attack for a period of time.
    • Original: Max level 20: -20 MP, +20 W.Atk for 155 seconds.
    • Max level 20: -20 MP, +12 W.Atk, -12 Def for 160 seconds.
    • Formula: W.Atk = level; Time = 55+5*level; MP used = 12+8*RoundDown((level-1)/10)
  • Power Guard: Absorb some of the damage received from the enemy and deal the damage taken back to the enemy. You cannot deal more then half the enemy's HP. Requires level 3 Rage.
    • Original: Max level 20: -20 MP, for 100 seconds absorb 50% of the damage received, deal 100% of taken damage (after absorbing) back to the enemy.
    • Max level 30: -30 MP, for 90 seconds, return 40% of the damage received Note: no absorbing.
    • Formula: % Absorbed = 10+2*level; Time = 10+10*RoundDown((level-1)/2) MP used = RoundDown(10+(level/2))
  • Ground Smash: Shoot a strong shock wave forward, attacking up to three enemies.
    • Original: Max level 20: -15 MP, 300% damage.
    • New Skill.
    • Formula: % Damage = 180+6*level; MP used = 6+RoundDown((level-1)/2)
