Table of Contents Things I am: An editor - this means I make edits to many pages, sometimes systematically, sometimes random. A student - I cannot devote all of my time to the wiki, but I can devote some time. Things I claim to be: An infobox curator - I have designed most of the current infoboxes that sit across thousands of pages. A userbox curator - I have tidied up all of the current userboxes to help newer editors use them correctly. Somewhat knowledgeable - I know some extensive functions, but I am still learning myself. Things I am not: A sysop/admin - I do not have the powers to do anything anybody else cannot do. So I won't be deleting pages, but I will mark them. A teacher - I can give general guidelines, but I cannot teach you how to edit the wiki. A Magic 8 Ball - I do not have every answer, but I can try. Send me a message and I'll see what I can do. (Almost) The Skill Infobox is done, after many days of work and editing. But I have one issue. How can I add an image in the case that a certain image isnt available. For example, An Infobox would have an icon for Three Snails because it has a Three Snails.png file. But how can I get icons that doesnt have that name on it? What I do for icons that possibly will not follow {{PAGENAME}}.png format is add an image Parser Function. What this basically entails is: {{{image|[[File:{{PAGENAME}}.png]]}} This way, the default is File:{{PAGENAME}}.png, while allowing users to add a specific file name if it's not named in that format. You can also get more detailed in this by adding alternative text with it and make it very complicated (as is evident if you look at the source code for the item infobox), but that is entirely your choice. ~  Kitten Tale 17:46, 17 September 2011 (CDT) Infobox Complete The infobox is fully done, but now I'd like another piece of help. I plan to add an automatic category adder for the Job section, similar to the Item Infobox. What would be a nice Parser Function? Personally, I would use a {{#switch: function, as this allows one to give many options from one field. This usually requires some input field prior to the switch function, but since Job is a variable, you can use that. To see a full example, you can take a look at the item infobox's code, towards the bottom (that's where all the categorization happens). The way automatic categorization works is that when certain values are in place, the code automatically takes effect immediately afterwards. You're definitely free to make pages on Nebulite. Don't worry about infoboxes on them, because we will most likely have to add that into the infobox at some point. Mesos None None This was the original format of how drops were managed. However, there are some problems: 1) It's wiki-unfriendly to new users. (However, my template could be considered that also, if they have no experience with templates.) 2) You're required to copy and paste it. With Template:Drop Table infobox, people could implement it without having to copy and paste. 3) It's easy to break. Delete a couple characters and you have a mess. 4) It eats up a lot of space on the page. Using drop tables formatted like that could easily consume more than half of the page. 5) You must know what the file name is. The Drop Table infobox allows automatic file naming and choosing for png images. In either case, this is an issue for both formats, and thus File redirects are required to make full use of it. 6) No category support. Every time the template is included, a ton of categories are created. See Category:Thief Equipment Drops for an example. However, it is a good general format for drop tables. I believe this is what the original style of my template used before we broke down categories to clearly show what kinds of things a particular monster drops (be it scrolls, trophies, etc). Before you use more wide-spread implementation of your drop table, please consider the points above and give me a final answer. I'm not trying to bully your ideas or anything - I greatly encourage new ways to do things (especially when trying to figure out how to show relevant information without cluttering pages). However, the template I use for drops is HUGE; a lot of things are taken into account, and more are still being added periodically. That also being said, if you do end up deciding to use my template, I greatly appreciate feedback on how to make it more user-friendly. I can also share my plans on infoboxes and why I want them on every applicable page. Despite the fact that they are somewhat complicated, I do find the template I use to be very aesthetically pleasant to the eye. I know having to find the image file names is a hassle, but I have no problems with doing so. Also, I've seen you create those hidden categories, but I'm not sure what the point of them are when the item page itself should have which monsters drop the item. The thing about your template is that I have no idea of how to use it, but I've had experience with the one I use, but if you'd like, I could surely try to figure out yours and use it instead! --Arch3ops (talk) 19:50, 24 July 2012 (CDT) My original plan was to add the template to every page, then look to see where all the links are coming from in Special:WhatLinksHere. But with hidden categories, a list can basically be maintained automatically. If another extension was added to the wiki, this list could be listed on all item pages and always be up-to-date. (The flaw in this automatic listing is that there isn't much room for additional comments such as level of monster.) If you'd like to give it a shot, you can go to Template:Drop Table infobox and copy and paste the code provided. The syntax is very easy to remember: for every new entry, hit the enter key, and start off the row with "|" (the vertical line/pipe key). After that, add a space and write what it is, followed by the equal sign and the name. For example: {{Drop Table infobox | warrior = Spear }} This lists the warrior equipment Spear. You can list multiple entries for a type by adding a number directly after. {{Drop Table infobox | warrior = Spear | warrior2 = Pole Arm }} This pattern continues up to 10 for all class equipment. The one change is that Common equipment is listed as all. {{Drop Table infobox | all = | all2 = }} Otherwise, the pattern is consistent with use, etc, mesos, manual, ore, recipe, weaponscroll, accessoryscroll, and so on. Chances are, even if you guess, you'll probably find the right word to use. Some types have higher limits (numbers that can be placed directly after), which means there should be few issues with it.
