As one of the two second job advancements for the Thief, the Assassin is one of the fastest, most dangerous jobs in the game. Of course, you start out weak, but you come out of it, bursting into your third job with huge amounts of damage and speed.

Second Job Introduction

This is where it gets fun! You've figured out the basics of the Thief, and you are now on your way of achieving what you've set out to do! The Assassin is a very fast, lethal character, so use your new powers to good! Assassins use the Claw as the main weapon. It facilitates them in long-range and fast attack. Although the training may seem tough at times, later on you will realize that it was worth it.

Job Advancement Procedure

Finally, level 30! Time to make the second job advancement! To make the second job advancement, go back to where you first got your job of Thief and talk to the Dark Lord. When you talk to him, he will give you a letter to take to his instructor.

The instructor is two maps east of Kerning City; Talk to him. Buy 50 or 60 orange potions before leaving or 30 white potions. He'll take you to the advancement area. The only way to get out is to change channel or die. All I can say after this is, go after the monsters. Get 30 dark marbles, return to the thief instructor and obtain the proof. Now, go back to The Dark Lord (Long lecture comes). Choose the Assassin and then confirm your choice. Congratulations! You are now an Assassin, and have just proceeded into your second job advancement!

Job Analysis

Being an Assassin means that you are on your way to becoming an expert with throwing stars. The skills you acquire, the armor that you wear, the money that you have in your storage are all factors which determine the advantages and disadvantages of your chosen profession. In this case, it is the Assassin. Below, is a small list of general advantages and disadvantages in your ongoing career as an Assassin.

Pros

  • Very ranged attack.
  • High level of avoidability.
  • Probably the best looking clothes in the game!
  • Great party characters.
  • Great level of damage
  • Fast
  • The most funded character in Maplestory, due to the skill Drain
  • Has critical hit. A very strong(if maxed, passive).

Cons

  • Can not battle in close quarters.
  • Stars can be very expensive.
  • A little hard to level up at later levels.
  • They are the most popular class in the game, and the only reason that is a con is because it highers the prices of scrolls for claw attack 60%, right now (May 28, 2007) in Bera claw attack 60% is 4 mil, and in Scania they're 6 mil.
  • Do not have a active skill like triple attack(or something until 4th job).

Stat Distribution

The stat distribution is the same as before, so there's no need to worry about this. Just keep your DEX at 2 times your level, and everything else goes into LUK! So at lvl 10, your dex has to have 25 AP. Continue adding the rest of your AP points into LUK until you reach level 13. Once you level to lvl 13, you can use one of the two methods below:

LUK: +5 for three levels
DEX: +5 for two levels

Or

LUK: +3 on each level
DEX: +2 on each level

Confer:

Level 30: 60 DEX, 117 LUK
Level 35: 70 DEX, 132 LUK
Level 40: 80 DEX, 147 LUK

Until level 40 your DEX should be twice your level. After that it must be your lvl+40 To maximize the amount of points invested on LUK, you can keep the DEX at an enough amount required to wear the equipment. Once you hit level 50, the amount of DEX needed by the equipment is only 90 and from now on, the DEX amount does not need to be twice your level.

Levels 30-40: LUK +3, DEX +2 per level
From level 41 onwards: LUK +4, DEX +1 per level

Confer:

Level 40: 80 DEX, 147 LUK
Level 50: 90 DEX, 187 LUK
Level 60: 100 DEX, 227 LUK
Level 70: 110 DEX, 267 LUK

Note from player....when you're level 30, and all along you have been adding 2 DEX 3 LUK,it is impossible for you LUK to be 117(should only be 94)and DEX 60(should be 65+)...please take note dear author (You should also think about pumping 1 dex per level up when you are lvl 40 and above as there is no lvl 45 armor and therefore, will increasing your LUK and damage)P.S. this is a stupid note

Massive Damage Build

Level 30: +3 Claw Mastery

Level 31-41: Critical Hit

Level 41-51: Drain

After this it would be wise to max out Claw Mastery and Claw Booster. The rest is your choice.

Places To Train

Below are some recommended places where you should train, and monsters of which you should train off.

Level 30-35

Wild Boars, Evil Eyes and Pink Teddies are good for now. Also, if you're into making big money from drops go to Chronos in Ludibrium, but only if you have many potions.

Level 35-40

By now, you should be pretty strong. You can make a choice of either Wild Boar or Fire Boar for both Assassin and Bandit. Wild boars would still be good until the mid forty's (40-43),even though it is a pain. Try killing crows at Zipangu, for they give 42EXP and only have 400 HP.

NOTE: All crows give 42 EXP( including MapleS.E.A crows).MapleS.E.A crows do not give 60 EXP anymore.

Level 40-45

Try Jr. Cellion, Jr. Lioner and Jr. Grupins. If you want to make a lot of money and fair amounts of EXP, go to Amoria and hunt at Sakura Cellions (MapleGlobal only).

Player's Note: You can do the Ludibrium PQ for great EXP prizes. Once you're level 40, getting into PQ is fairly easy.

Level 45-50

The easiest route to level 50 is fighting something you can kill in one hit. Fighting Jr. Kitties or Teddies should be the best option until you get to level 50+ (two hit killing monsters for 90 EXP isn't as good as killing a one hit kill monster twice[2 hits for 90 EXP; 2, 1 hit kills for 120 EXP]). Although, once you have at least Level 5 Booster and Level 10 Haste, you can try Flyeyes. The 2 hits will still be worse compared to the 1 hit of 60 EXP, but the AMAZING spawn makes up for it.

Ludi PQ EXP will start to suck around here, and it just takes too long to get in. Stick to training until you can Orbis PQ, which will give you a well deserved break and some really great EXP. A night in a forest in zipangu is also good.. Great exp with party. Paper lantern ghost 2-3 hits for 93 exp and Night fox 2-3 hits for 110 exp. Lots of scroll drops, tobi and even liu bei dagger. It's sometimes hard to find a slot there. You can stay this place till lvl 60+

Level 50-55

Luster Pixies or Zombie Lupins. Good drops and good EXP. Stone Gollems or Block Golems in Ludibrium would also be good. Another nice option would be the Jr. Yetis and Hectors around Icy Path II. Another option is going to Dangerous Cave (which is the path to Pianus that can be found in The Grave of a Wrecked Ship located in Aqua Dungeon) and training on Flyeyes. There's a quite good spawn, and some decent drops, as well as the exchange quest that can be completed. They give 95 EXP opposed to Zombie Lupin's 90, and have less HP, although the Bandit class will have to purchase more HP pots. A better place to train at these levels are to go to zombies. They have a good spawn and you will be the best to kill them. Although unless you are funded with 4+ attack gloves it will be hard to get anything more then a 4-5 hit kill until level 53 or so.

The new Orbis PQ is also an option. Glitch or EXP PQ is very good at these levels, just make sure you don't boss. If you go on a successful boss run, it'll cut your EXP in the other stages, and you'll regret it. Or you can try Rush PQ where you do the first 3 stages and rush out. You can get about 50,000 EXP in 5 minutes.

Level 55-60

Zombie Lupins, Flyeyes, Luster Pixies, Jr. Yetis, and Hectors, possibly even White Pangs would be good at these levels as well. Crocos are also good, as there's a chance you can obtain your level 60 top & bottom, and Crocos give the same EXP as Hectors but have 800 less HP. You can also try Dark Stone Gollems, which drop Tobis and Dark Identities. Lorang and Clang are nice, but hold off on Torties until you're able to 2 hit kill them as they have some good drops (10% Glove ATK Scroll, anyone?) If you do decide to go to Hot Sand or Clang and Lorang, bring a party with you. These levels are also good for zombies if you know how to train there but if you do not like to train at zombies, then you can go to Crocos or Block Golems or even Mix Gollems. The Forest of Golem might be good too.

Level 60-70

You can either go to Drake's Meal Table or Hot Sand. Coolie Zombies are the best EXP at these levels. Ever since the zombie map change in GMS, the EXP might not be as good as it used to be. Glitch or EXP Orbis PQ would still be good at this level. Flyeyes near Pianus are still a viable option at these levels as you will most likely kill them with 1 hit as opposed to Zombies with 2 hits, plus it is also less crowded than the Zombie maps. Hectors and Jr. Yetis are still good if you can't 2 hit kill Zombies yet (usually in the early 60s), plus Jr. Yeti drops 60% Glove ATK Scrolls, which usually sell for a high price in the Free Market. You should be able to kill White Pangs and Red Drakes in 3 hits, and the EXP isn't too bad but not the best, but Assassins may want to try them just for the Steelies (Pangs drop Steelies in gMS only). Forest of Golem has a really nice spawn, and you might find yourself trapped at times. Don't insist on having the whole map to yourself here, as there are a lot of people training here. Stick to one of the bottom two platforms.
