Introduction

Hello, Maplers welcome to my guide for the Big Bang Update on the online 2-D game by Nexon and Wizet, MapleStory. If you would like to contact me to tell me something about my guide, email me at [email protected]. Or you can whisper me, if you MapleGlobal Broa, my ign is DarkDracos14 if you wish to. While some people may think a guide to this Update is rather trivial, I've been requested multiple times.

Notes: Due to a repetitive crashing of maplewiki on all my browsers, as well as a deletion of my Big bang guide file; I will not be able to update. I am working hard to recover my lost files, as well as explore the new maple world, but this will take a bit.

Information

The Big bang is a gigantic update that starts a huge change in the game play of Maplestory. Not only was a storyline fully implanted into this game, many formulas for damage and accuracy were changed. Another great change was the maps themselves; this update changes the areas of this game, altering, deleting, and even adding new ones.

Formulas

The most important change to formulas in this game is the accuracy system. As of this patch, Weapon and magic Accuracy’s no longer greatly affect all types of character’s Miss Rate. As of now the level of a character is the most influential stat of the accuracy system. Though you gradually become more likely to hit a monster as you level; your chance of hitting a certain mob increases dramatically when you are in the 5 level range below the monster’s own level.

Also, changes to damage formulas increase the overall damage range of your character. Coming with that is an increased percentage of damage on attacking skills. These 2 facts greatly increase your damage potential.

Skills

An incredibly important change is the addition of new skills. Due to the addition of new skills, certain 3rd job skills have had their maximum SP amount reduced from 30 to 20. Other skills have had their animation changed, from simple coloring to being totally changed. For instance, the magician Ultimates have had cooldowns added to them.

Experience

Something that truly outraged players of Maplestory all over the world is the destruction of 2x EXP coupons from the Cash Shop. In compensation, Nexon reduced the amount of EXP required to level up. This gigantic change seems to be far more than necessary compensation for the outrageous removal of the popular speed leveling item; considering the family system remains intact, untouched by the update.

Finally, many levels of certain monsters have been changed, reduced and increased.

Training

This is the most important section of this guide. As you can guess, with the changes of monster levels, damage formulas, and experience tables; leveling in this game has greatly changed.

This section will cover training for all types of classes, and methods for training on them.

Levels 1-10

Beginner Quests

Not much to say here. Simply follow the instructions the beginner NPC's give you, whether you are an Adventurer or Evvan and you will be level 10 in no time.

Rating: 10/10

Levels 1-20

Blue Pigs

Found near Nautilus Harbor, these little Red Ribbon Pig wanna-be's have excellent EXP, and are commonly used to get to level 20. Once again, quite simple. Very easy map.

Rating: 10/10

Rotting Skeletons

At an amazing 74 EXP, these guys can be killed by funded Level 15+. In addition, despite the amazing EXP these little boogers provide, no one ever goes there! If you need directions its quite simple. GO to NLC and take the cab to the haunted mansion. Enter the fireplace at the top of the entering map. Take the springs, and at the first platform, jump down to get to this Experience hot spot.

Rating: 11/10

Job Quests

To be honest, I recommend these the most. The hat they give is amazing, and most likely going to be used up until you get a Zakum Helmet or Targa/Scarlion hat. Their EXP is quite impressive as well.

Rating: 10/10

Levels 20-30

Rotting Skeletons

Still excellent EXP, as kill able and nearly twice the EXP as the more popular Golem Spot. Highly recommended for most classes.

Rating: 10/10

Subway PQ

Highly recommend for mobbers, especially Evans. Possibly even better than Skeletons for some classes.

Evans: DO THIS. Stand on the very left and spam fire circle. Phenomenal EXP at little to no HP pot burn.

Warriors: Not as good at Evans, but still recommended. If you have a decent level Slash Blast, this is excellent EXP, but far more costly than that of an Evan.

Pirates: Same as above.

Mixed Golems

Yes, these guys have been degraded. EXTREMELY so. Go to the Hidden street, this is an incredibly popular spot, and is highly recommended for characters that cannot Subway or Skeleton.
