Welcome!

  • Welcome to MapleWiki! You did an awesome job with the Potion pages you created. I know I'm not an admin or anything here, but I've been an avid contributor for at least the past year. For the most part, I've been slowly working on fixing the monster drops. When I was getting started, however, one of our leading contributors at the time introduced me to a feature he'd spent a lot of work on: Infoboxes. You can check them out here at http://www.maplewiki.net/index.php?title=Category:Infoboxes .
  • Those infoboxes can be copied and pasted into any new pages you make, and all you have to do is fill in the information as needed. They look great aesthetically-wise, and they are a super time-saver! If you need to look at an example, I've added infoboxes to each potion page you created. Infoboxes are partly also the reason why I've marked the files you uploaded for deletion. Not only did the files already exist under a different name, but infoboxes have a built-in feature I don't fully understand that require image files to be titled File: ExampleItemNameHere.png for the picture of the item to show up in the infobox.
  • Having the images uploaded with those proper names saves a lot of time, but here's the thing: lots of images were uploaded before infoboxes were introduced to MapleWiki. If you ever find yourself with such an image with an improper format, here's what you can do instead of re-uploading the picture:
    • Say you need the picture of the Arc-en-ciel on a monster's drop table. I'm not actually sure whether the picture is correct or not, so bear with me and pretend the picture has been uploaded as File:Arc-en-ciel.gif. Sure, the name is spelled correctly and all, but instead of being .png, it's .gif! Oh,no!
    • 1- But you have naught to fear, for here's the solution! First things first, be sure to write down the name of the correct picture with the improper name.
    • 2- In this case, you would type into the search box File:Arc-en-ciel.png and press the search button.
    • 3- Granted the picture doesn't already exist with the right name, it should give you an error saying the page doesn't exist. Be sure to check your spelling, then click on the red link to create the page.
    • 4- Clicking on that red link will take you to the Edit box for you to create the page. Now all you have to do is type in #REDIRECT File:Arc-en-ciel.gif, preview to check that you're correctly linking to that file, then save!
  • I must admit, I was quite confused when this concept of redirecting was first explained to me, but I'm sure you'll quickly get the gist of it. Also, I do apologize for this overwhelming tidal wave of information crashing right at you, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask in my Talk page! Happy editing!
