User talk:MapleTaurus
Hi there!
Hi there MapleTaurus, I'm Kitten Tale. I'm very thrilled to see new editors joining the wiki and helping out (because then it's more people I get to meet!). I just wanted to point out a few things that have been staples of the wiki (or at least from what I've noticed).
- A lot of articles you're starting to make are actually kept in the Category namespace. This is being further relied upon with the introduction of infoboxes several weeks ago, as the infoboxes actually keep categories maintained. This is not to say your work is pointless - people do make lists of weapons and put them into the Category page (as you can add information to the Category page itself). Explaining what a weapon type is all about it much appreciated and welcome, but perhaps you could move it to the main Category page?
- As I said up above, infoboxes are something I'm trying to make the fad of the wiki. If you'd like, you are welcome to add more pages into the system with their appropriate infoboxes. You can find the full listing by clicking here. The page briefly explains what they are as well, in case you were wondering.
- The wiki is not perfect, and I think we all knew that when we joined. And it won't ever be perfect. But I am very open to ideas for big projects or things that the entire community (or what's left of it) can work on together to make this wiki cleaner, easier to read, and more organized. I would enjoy hearing your thoughts on the wiki, and you are welcome to post on my talk page if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to chat.
And in case you haven't gotten it already - welcome to the wiki! Kitten Tale 16:25, 12 September 2011 (CDT)
Clarification
Hi again. I just wanted to clarify a couple things:
1) I am always looking for ways to make the wiki more user-friendly. If you encounter anything that interferes with usability, please let me know. Both ToaArrol and I know how to edit the infoboxes, and we can re-position them, change the color scheme, or even the size and shape of it. If you think they can be made easier to read or use, please speak up.
2) Not everything has to be done via infoboxes (although they are a sizable chunk). You can also:
- Add in new images or clean up images to make them better.
- Tag articles for clean-up, clarification, and deletion. (See Category:Notices)
- Create a guide
- Create Userboxes, or little boxes that help show the rest of the wiki who you are.
- Clean-up articles that appear scrambled, or clarify some wording.
- Verify the information on a page (I hope to one day add a verification option for the infoboxes, and perhaps even an entire page).
- List suggestions that can make the wiki easier to read or use. Even if it requires a major overhaul, new ideas are never a bad thing.
Take care! Kitten Tale 18:03, 15 September 2011 (CDT)
