Warning about .wz files
- The following is a quote from the EULA, regarding .wz files.
- "WZ Files: You will not adapt, alter, change, enhance, modify, improve or translate any of the .wz files included in the Software, create derivative works from or based on any of those .wz files, or merge, embed or combine any of those .wz files with any other software or materials. You will not create, reproduce, publish or distribute any .wz file that is capable of being used with the Software."
- Extracting file information (such as icons and descriptions) is NOT explicitly mentioned, but modifying, uploading, and using the .wz files in ways not used by the game IS.
About this page
- This page documents the way in which items, icons, and other information is documented within the MapleStory data files. Editing data files and using them to play MapleStory is considered hacking and is punishable by no lesser punishment than being banned. Please do not attempt to edit or otherwise modify your game files - it's not worth losing characters/accounts over, and it drastically decreases your quality of enjoyment of the game.
- To prevent possible ways users (documented or otherwise) could exploit game files, the exact method for obtaining this information will not be revealed.
- Information listed below should be assumed factual based on Assume Good Faith. However, not all game files are currently being used in MapleStory (meaning files may have been added with other updates, but not implemented or on hold until a later update).
- Not all files are accessible, and not all files contain unique information. Information may be stored in one area and referenced in several areas.
General Information about Item.wz
- Files contain numerous properties
- The vast majority of files have icons with and without shadows (excluding pets)
- Values such as HP and MP are listed with the file.
- Some files have descriptions (this is more true for Cash Shop items)
- Trade restrictions are listed.
- Some items have sale values.
- Maximum number of items per slot is given.
How to read this table
- For your own protection, these tables are hidden by default to help with loading this page. You may expand sections you wish to view, but note that this page will be very long, so collapse sections you are no longer looking at.
- Item.wz contains 6 main sections:
- Cash
- Consume
- Etc
- Install
- ItemOption
- Pet
- Special
Cash: Documents all Cash Shop items. Anything in the CASH tab.
Consume: Refers to potions and food items. Anything in the USE tab.
Etc: Trophy/Collectible drops, crafting materials, bags, and various other ETC tab items.
Install: Deals with Set-Up items (chairs). Anything from the SET-UP tab is in here.
ItemOption: Currently unknown for now. May be passive buffs that are applied to characters as they level up.
Pet: Anything related to pets. Contains all pet actions per pet.
Special: A majority of these are boxes you can open for random (or pre-set) rewards. Some seem to be event-related.
