So you wanna be a thief?
Your character at the start
OK so for your character when you make it here's the stats you need.
STR- Doesn't matter
DEX- 6 or higher
INT- Doesn't matter
LUK- As high as possible
As a beginner
When making the job advancement it all lies in how you train as a beginner and how you assign things. Once you start heading one way, there's no turning around...
Hunting
So once you have that finish your character and move on. How you hunt on Maple Island should be like until level three hang out in the training camp. From level 3-6 just do Snails, Blue Snails, and Shrooms. From 6-9 hunt on those, plus Red Snails and Orange Mushrooms. So pretty much you're just hunting anything you see.
AP
Every time you level up put three AP into DEX and 2 AP into LUK. By the time you're level nine you whould look something like this:
STR- Something
DEX-30+
INT- Something
LUK- 22+
This is a pretty good build for someone on the thief path.
SP
When you level up first put 2 in three snails and 1 in nimble feet. Then next put 2 in three snails and 1 in recovery. take turns putting one into nimble feet and recovery but always put 2 into three snails.
Quests
Did I mention, if there's a quest available, DO IT, DO IT, DO IT!! You'll get all sorts of experience and items, and it just helps you move along. Like putting extra gas in that car you're driving down Thief Road.
Level Nine
Level nine is when things really start getting exciting. Pay close attention. You may want to take notes. Go ahead, get some paper and a pen...
Quests again
So first, to make sure you've packed the most possible into your punch, finish all the quests you're on. You should've started all of them by now. So, go ahead, finish anything.
Southperry
Go to Southperry. Talk to Shanks. Get on the ship. Go to Victoria Island. You'll be in Lith Harbor.
Lith Harbor Area.
You'll be doing quite a bit in and around Lith Harbor. Here's what.
Lith Harbor Itself
First you need to talk to Olaf. Select Path of a Thief. He'll tell you to go to Kerning City and talk to Dark Lord. Don't do it yet. You have other business to take care of...
Right Around Lith Harbor and Thickets Around the Beach
Lith Harbor Domain is a great place to train when you're about to make the job advancement. So, level up here. In Thickets Around the Beach, you'll see Slimes. Now you may be thinking "What the heck are those?? There were none of those on Maple Island!!!!" That's exactly right. There were only Drum Bunnies(weakened), Jr. Leatties(weakened), Snails, Blue Snails, Shrooms, Red Snails, and Orange Mushrooms. Maple Island has only weaker monsters to prepare beginners for the real world. But don't worry about the slimes. They are actually weaker than Orange Mushrooms, so they shouldn't be a threat. And also there are stumps on a platform somewhere with slimes. Stumps are weaker than slimes. They are not much at attacking, but they have a lot of HP, so they are hard for beginners to take down. And on a platform with other stumps and slimes? Don't do it.
Three way split
This is the one of the most important parts of this guide so pay close attention. At the top-middle of Three way split is a portal that takes you to Kerning City Middle Forest 1. Take that portal.
Let's Do This- actually becoming a thief
Finally...
Getting to Kerning City
Now that you're in Kerning City Middle Forest 1, die. Yes, I said die. It's okay because you don't have a job yet. But you see, it is incredibly hard to navigate around there. There is also stuff called Kerning City L. Forests, and you have no clue how common it is to get confused between the two, and then get lost. It's not worth the effort of navigation. Die. (You can still hunt on Kerning City Grounds, just make sure its the brick walls and vandalised stuff.)
Finding Dark Lord
It is a little hard to get around Kerning City itself. There aren't portals to the shops, just doors that you stand by and press up. It's a bit hard to tell the difference between real and fake. But go to the door where above it there's a sign that says 'Fusion Bar Jazz'. Go in there and go to the bottom. There's Dark Lord. Cleverly hidden, eh?
Finish and Become
Talk to Dark Lord, he'll have quest in progress. That's Olaf's quest, click on it to complete it. Then talk to Dark Lord again he'll have an option to become a thief. Click it. If you followed my build you'll have enough of what you need. Congratulations! You're a thief!
As A Thief
Now what to do, what to do, what to do...
Weapons
First go to the weapon store-'Weapons made for your protection'. Buy the glove at the bottom. Then go to the potion store. At the bottom you can buy Subi Throwing Stars. Get those. There's your weapon!
Clothes
Go to the Armor shop and buy a shirt, pants, and headgear that suit you and your budget. I highly suggest the iron headgear!!!
Hunting Grounds
Now you're probably thinking "Well I'm a thief so I have to train in Kerning City." Right? Wrong. For until you're level 11 or 12 then I actually suggest going back to Lith Harbor. Once you're too strong for that stuff then go to Henseys Hunting Ground 1. You can choose from all sorts of different kinds of monsters that suit your level. You can also hang out around Perion that's good too. Once you're level 14 then you're probaably strong enough to tackle Kerning City Area.By the time you're level 18 then go to the Dungeon and train your way out of there. Do that a few times.
AP SP Quests
AP and Quests stay the same as when you were a beginner. Keep up your build. Now for your SP you have all sorts of new skills. Your skills are Dark Sight, Disorder, Double Stab, Nimble Body, Keen Eyes, and Lucky Seven. Click here to learn more about that.
