Professions
Unfinished
Description
Professions are a feature added in the second section of the Chaos Update; the Age of Artisans. Professions allow a character to mine, harvest herbs, create potions, fashion equipment, and craft accessories such as rings and pendants.
The Profession system replaced the Maker Skill, which had been the only way players could create their own weapons and armor.
When a character reaches level 30, they may talk to Grant in Ardentmill to begin learning professions. Ardentmill is accessible from all major towns.
To learn a profession, speak to the respective Profession NPC:
- Saffron allows characters to learn Herbalism
- Cole allows characters to learn Mining
- Ally allows characters to learn Alchemy
- Gere allows characters to learn Smithing
- Intaglio allows characters to learn Accessory Crafting
One can learn up to two professions, which may be unlearnt at any time. However, the level earned will be reset if one chooses to re-learn it, meaning one must restart from level one in that profession.
All professions require tools that may or may not be supplied. Nack sells profession supplies in Ardentmill.
Professions must be chosen in sets that complement each other (i.e. you cannot choose Herbalism and Mining).
The current combinations are listed below:

- Mining+Smithing
- Mining+Accessory Crafting
- Hunting+Animal Tamer (Exclusive to JapanMS)
