MapleSEA Post Big Bang Flame Wizard Guide

~UPDATES~

-04/07/2011: Guide opened

-06/07/2011: Added skill points build

~Table of Contents~

1. Pros / Cons

2. AP Build

3. SP Build (Temporary up to 2nd Job)

4. Miscellaneous

1. Pros / Cons being a Flame Wizard

Pros: - great mobbing skill (especially Flame Pillar on 2nd job advancement and Flame Gear on 3rd job advancement)

- more AP than other class (adventurers, resistance) of the same level, which means higher damage

- fast leveling (however KoC’s Soul Master will be a better choice if you want fast leveling)

- amazing CC hopper

Cons: - useless in 1v1 / soloing high leveled mobs (Zakum, Horntail, Bigfoot etc) [UPDATE: with the new skill Magic Booster, Flame Wizards may have a chance on 1v1. I will try it and let you know]

- they may be extremely pot burning (no MP Eater)

- all the mages’ ultimate have a cool down, so you can’t spam your Meteor skill

- often boo’ed because of Flame Gear’ing the map (Flame Gear makes you hard to be KS’ed but it leaves bad impression to other players)

2. AP Build for Flame Wizard

There are 3 types of build if you become a Flame Wizard;

a) Regular Luck

- Luck = Level +3 (Just click auto-assign and the system will do it for you)

- you can equip any mage items you want

b) Low Luck

- Just add Luck until you think you have enough (normally between 50-60 luck)

c) Luckless

- Add everything into Int and leave Luck 4

- This build is strictly for supreme funded players ( nowadays , price of lukless mages equipment have decreased ,maple widam staff cost around 2 million meso , so , you need not to be supreme funded , you just need at least 1 million meso to your character , then gain some meso , by level 64 , most character should have 2.0 million , then get a decent good equipment.

~Some say that regular Luck will have lower damage than Low Luck or Luckless. ~

This statement is wrong. If you go regular Luck it means you can equip any mage items in-game. By then higher leveled equips will add your MA making it as the same with Low Luck/Luckless.

Plus, after Big Bang your secondary stats and level will affect your accuracy on mobs. So, going regular Luck after Big Bang does not sucks.

~Since secondary stats and level will affect accuracy, will Luckless suck?~

It depends whether you are funded or not. Luckless will need a lot of +Luck items to help them get over with accuracy problems. I do not recommend you to go Luckless unless you are extremely funded.

As I said before, there is a chance that regular Luck may achieved the same damage as Luckless. So its up to you to choose yourself.

3. Skill Build for Flame Wizard

Credits to MangosOnTheWeb for providing these useful in formations.

~1st Job Skills~

Magic Guard Max Level 15: MP Cost: 13, Damage Displaced: 80% of your HP, Duration: 600 sec A must add skill because mages have the lowest HP pool but highest MP pool compared to other classes.

Magic Amour Max Level 15: MP Cost: -16, Weapon DEF: +120, Magic DEF: +120, Duration: 300 sec Finally the useless skill has been improved. It’s your choice if you want to max it.

Flame Max Level 10: MP Cost: 20, Damage: 120%, Duration: 200 sec Many people believed that this skill also reduces the damage dealt by mobs. I maxed it because the thing is so cute.

Magic Claw Max Level 20: MP Cost: 20, Damage: 120% to 2 enemies You are a b*tch if you don’t max it. This will be your main skill before going 2nd job.

MP Boost Max Level 10: Max MP +20% It just adds your max MP. Boring… But still max it as it increases your survivability.

~1st Job Skill Build~Lv 10: 1 Magic Claw (1) Lv 11: 2 Magic Claw (3), 1 Flame (1) Lv 12-16: 15 Magic Claw (18) Lv 17: 2 Magic Claw (Maxed), 1 MP Boost (1) Lv 18-20: 9 MP Boost (Maxed) / 9 Flame (Maxed) Lv 21-23: 9 MP Boost (Maxed) / 9 Flame (Maxed) Lv 24-28: 15 Magic Guard (Maxed) Lv 29-30: 6 Magic Amour (6)

~End Build~Magic Guard - Maxed Magic Claw - Maxed MP Boost - Maxed Flame - Maxed Magic Amour - 6

~2nd Job Skills~ Fire Pillar Level 20: MP Cost: 42, Damage: 300% on up to 6 monsters Great offensive skill, great mobbing, great AoE

Fire Arrow Level 30: MP Cost: 33, Damage: 440% Before BB if you maxed it, it will become a good bossing skill. However after BB Fire pillar gets improved so this skill doesn’t do much anymore.

Spell Booster Level 20: MP Cost: 20, Duration: 200 sec Speeds up your casting speed, so you can cast Fire Pillar faster.

Meditation Level 20: MP Cost: 16, Magic ATT: +20, Duration: 200 sec Your only party skill, it gives a rather nice boost to your damage.

Slow Level 10: MP -10; enemy's moving speed -40 for 40 sec. What’s so special about this is it can also be used on boss. However some players claimed that this skill is useless and they rather add SP to fire arrow as a sub-skill.( as slow may not be a practical skill )

Teleport Level 20: MP Cost: 12, Range: 150 A must max skill. Max it and you can master telecasting (Casting skills while teleporting, similar to bowmen’s jump shoot. Useful on avoiding contact with mobs)

Elemental Reset Level 10: MP Cost: 50, Elemental Attributes: -100%, Duration: 300 sec Turns your attacks to neutral, used to hit fire resistant/immune monsters like Gobies, Alishar, Fire Tusks, etc. Extremely important.

Spell Mastery Level 20: Magic Mastery: 50%, Magic ATT: +10 Pre Big Bang, all magician skills had built in mastery, meaning a level 1 attacking skill would have 2% mastery or so, and a maxed would have 60%. Now we max this skill, which actually gives 75% mastery with the built in 25% mastery. Stabilizes your range, and gives you 10 MA passively.

~2nd Job Skill Build~ Lv 30: 1 Fire Pillar (1) Lv 31: 1 Teleport (1), 2 Spell Mastery (2)Level 32: 3 Spell Mastery (5) Lv 33: 3 Spell Mastery (8) Lv 34: 3 Spell Mastery (11) Lv 35: 3 Spell Mastery (14) Lv 36: 3 Spell Mastery (17) Lv 37: 3 Spell Mastery (Maxed) Lv 38: 3 Fire Pillar (4) Lv 39: 3 Fire Pillar (7) Lv 40: 3 Fire Pillar (10) Lv 41: 3 Fire Pillar (13) Lv 42: 3 Fire Pillar (16) Lv 43: 3 Fire Pillar (19) Lv 44: 1 Fire Pillar (Maxed), 2 Spell Booster (2) Lv 45: 3 Spell Booster (5) Lv 46: 3 Spell Booster (8) Lv 47: 3 Spell Booster (11) Lv 48: 1 Spell Booster (12), 2 Teleport (3) Lv 49: 3 Teleport (6) Lv 50: 3 Teleport (9)

Lv 61: 2 Meditation (Maxed), 1 Elemental Reset (1) Lv 62: 2 Elemental Reset (4) Lv 63: 3 Elemental Reset (7) Lv 64: 3 Elemental Reset (Maxed) Lv 65: 3 Spell Booster (15) Lv 66: 3 Spell Booster (18) Lv 67: 2 Spell Booster (Maxed), 1 Slow (1) Lv 68: 3 Slow (4) Lv 69: 3 Slow (7) Lv 70: 3 Slow (Maxed)

~End Build~ Everything maxed but not Fire Arrow

4. Miscellanous ~Man, your guide rocks. But what about the others?~ Thank you, but I am quite busy these days so I will update the guide later. Please do a favor and don’t change anything inside.

~Man, your guide sucks. What now?~ Easy! Hold the ALT key and F4 key together. Bye!

~What the hell is tele-casting?~ Mostly when you cast a spell you won’t be able to move until the end of the skill animation. Well, max Teleport and go to any mob map. Press your Fire Pillar once and wait about 0.8-1.4 seconds then teleport either left or right. Tele-casting is extremely useful if you If you can master tele-casting, any mage will have the ability to survive without using Magic Guard.

~What is CC Hopping? Why is it useful for Flame Wizards?~ Well at 3rd job you get a amazing skill called Flame Gear. Any monsters that entered the AoE will be burnt for overtime until left 1HP. (even if the mob gets out of the AoE, it will still get burnt.) A great mobbing skill but in order to affectively 1 Hit KO you need to wait until the monsters HP dropped until 1HP. Instead on climbing on a rope there AFK’ing, why not you CC to other channels and Flame Gear the map. Then you CC back to the previous channel and one hit KO them!

CC Hopping is a good meso, loot, and EXP farming skill, so master it!
