Welcome to my Guide for the Cleric.

Yo

You have set your eyes upon Jaewonnie's Cleric Guide. The following will explain why be a magician then cleric in the first place, where to train, how to raise the cleric, etc. I hope the following is the stuff you've been looking for. And if you wish to leave comments, follow the example: Note from *****: blah blah blah. Please don't post giant guides on the page. If you wish to do so, post it on the talk page and I'll decide to put it in the page if it is something I've missed.

The Pros of a Cleric

The Cleric has lots of advantages in Maplestory

-> great buffs like Bless, Invincible etc.

-> can heal themselves and party members which can also damage undead monsters

-> usually one of the richest 2nd job class in Maplestory

-> parties will die to get you into Partyquest either you're a Solo or Party Cleric (as long as you have Heal)

The Cons of a Cleric

The Cleric has a few disadvantages in Maplestory

-> not a lot of powerful offensive skills (Holy Arrow is okay but has similar damage conflict on monsters compared to Magic Claw)

-> very hard to level up to 70

Why be a Magician?

Well lots of people like Magicians because of their pro attacks during Lv 23+. But the thing is, your beginning will be very hard on you. If you want a perfect Magician, you must use the same attack (Energy Bolt), from Lv 8 to 13. And of course you won't put any skill points into Energy Bolt.

Below is the way to build a perfect Magician:

1. Creating Your Magician
STR: 4/5
DEX: 4/5
INT: Anything
LUK: Anything

Note: If you don't get these stats when you create your character, click the die to regenerate your stats.

2. How to Raise your Magician
LUK HAS to be 3 more points higher than your level. The rest of the AP go into your INT. NEVER put the AP points into the following : STR, DEX, HP, MP. Otherwise, your Magician will be messed up badly.

Skill
Here is the most commonly used Skill Build Magicians use:

Lv 8 - 1 Bolt
Lv 9 - 3 MP Recovery
Lv 10 - 2 MP Recovery + 1 Max MP
Lv 11 - 3 Max MP
Lv 12 - 3 Max MP
Lv 13 - 3 Max MP (Maxed)
Lv 14 - 3 Magic Claw
Lv 15 - 3 Magic Claw
Lv 16 - 3 Magic Claw
Lv 17 - 3 Magic Claw
Lv 18 - 3 Magic Claw
Lv 19 - 3 Magic Claw
Lv 20 - 2 Magic Claw (Maxed) + 1 MP Recovery
Lv 21 - 3 MP Recovery
Lv 22 - 3 MP Recovery
Lv 23 - 3 MP Recovery
Lv 24 - 1 MP Recovery (Maxed) + 2 Magic Guard
Lv 25 - 3 Magic Guard
Lv 26 - 3 Magic Guard
Lv 27 - 3 Magic Guard
Lv 28 - 3 Magic Guard
Lv 29 - 3 Magic Guard
Lv 30 - 3 Magic Guard (Maxed)

Where to Train

Here, you will be taught where to train during the Levels 8 to 30

Lv 8 to 13
First of all, it is crucial to do all the quests there is at these levels. Then you may start to train at Snails + Slimes. But hunt mostly Slimes.

Lv 13 to 18
Again, do all the quests available for you. Then train on Pigs or Orange Mushies. Make sure you do the Rememberer's Quest for killing 99 Green Mushrooms.

Lv 18 to 23
Still complete all quest available to you. Train on Horny Mushrooms. I don't suggest Green Mushrooms because they have a high Magic Defense stat but Horny Mushrooms have 0 as there Magic Defense stat. So killing Horny Mushrooms will be faster for both killing and leveling. Avoid Kerning Party Quest for now.

Lv 23 to 30
Once again do every quest for you. From here on, train on Horny Mushrooms or do the Kerning Party Quest. At these levels, you will gain mass amounts of mesos. By then I think you would have about 200 000 - 1 000 000 mesos.

The Advancement to Cleric

To advance to a Cleric, you must be at least Lv 30 and have your 1st job advancement already completed.

Go see Grendel the Really Old and he will tell you how much stronger you look and about putting that strength to the test.

So Grendel sends you on a mission to find the 2nd Job Instructor for Magician to give him the letter Grendel gave you. He will take you to a hidden dungeon where there will be no potion store so come prepared with potions. You will need to kill Horny Mushrooms and Curse Eyes for 30 Dark Marbles. You can kill them in 2 Magic Claws each. There isn't a 100% chance a Dark Mable will be dropped from the monsters.

Once that is completed, talk to the 2nd Instructor for Magician and he will take you out of the map and give a medal. Go see Grendel again and he will congratulate you. He will ask you what occupation you wish to have. Here, your job is to click 'Cleric.' Then the yellow winged fairy or something will appear and you became a Cleric!! One SP is rewarded so either use it on Heal or Teleport. I recommend Heal though because Teleport takes 60 MP in one use at Lv 1.

Cleric Skill's

Here, I'll discuss how useful Cleric skills are.

MP Eater

Max Level: 20
Type: Passive
Basically this skill allows you to steal MP off monsters every time you attack one. It is pretty useful but it isn't enough to replace potions. Max it if you wanna save money, otherwise, leave this at Level 1 and max something else.

Heal

Max Level: 30
Type: Recovery
A Cleric's trademark skill. Max this first. Great skill. Heals you completely at as low as Level 10. Parties need this skill. Useful enough to replace HP potions. Later on Heal will become extremely powerful but the damage ranges a lot. The damage of Heal is based on the amount of Int you possess.

Invincible

Max Level: 20
Type: Supportive
Pre-requisite: Level 5 Heal
Not your greatest skill but not your worst. It's like a second magic guard except it doesn't drain your MP and doesn't protect you from magic attacks. This should be one of the last skills you should max.

Teleport

Max Level: 20
Type: Supportive
Faster than Maxed haste, this skill of yours can evade quake attacks (eg. Mushmom). It can also dodge other magic attacks. It is better if you max this last because this isn't very important but important enough you should put atleast and atmost 1 skill point into it at an early level.

Bless

Max Level: 20
Type: Supportive
Pre-requisite: Level 5 Invincible
Great skill. Parties want it. It's like a drug for warriors. Max this buff skill after Heal or some time like that.

Holy Arrow

Max Level: 30
Type: Active
A Cleric's only true attack. Some think it isn't worthy to be maxed. I think different but its your choice because this ain't your best skill. For those who don't want this skill, start adding skill points into it after you've maxed everything. For those who wanna max it, max it whenever you want because it won't make a giant difference. The advantage it has over Shining Ray (3rd job priest main move) is its range, horizontal-wise.

Raising your Cleric

There are 3 types of Clerics.
1. Party Cleric
2. Solo Cleric
3. Partying and Soloing Cleric (A.K.A. Partolo Cleric =)

You should choose one of the options above. I prefer Partolo Cleric (although my skill build is in a world of its own) and it is the recommended type of Cleric.

Where to Train

Lv 30 to 34
You should soooooo train at the Ant Tunnel. Zombie Mushrooms may differ from 1 hit kill to 2 hit kill. If you get a 3 hit kill, something is wrong with your skill build or your stats. I swear, this is the fastest way to level even though it takes some time. Party and solo clerics should train here.

Lv 35 to 39
You may want to try the Ludibrium Party Quest but it is very unpopular these days. The Carnival Party Quest may be a better choice for exp. If you're a solo cleric you may want to stick with Zombie Mushrooms and later on try the Jr. Wraiths.

  • Note from Player: I suggest training at the transfer area in the Kerning subway before Jr. Wraiths. The stirges are easy one hits with an amazing spawn rate much faster than that of the Ant Tunnel.

Lv 40 to 44
For you solo clerics, Zombie Lupins all the way!! You should just mass Heal them to get amazing amounts of EXP. For those party clerics, Carnival Pq is amazing EXP (if your party wins). Since Carnival Pq unpopularized Ludibirum Pq you should stick to Carnival Pq. But if you don't want to lose, Ludibrium Pq. Except these days you're lucky to find a party there. Every Channel will be, 99% of the time, empty. Best if you take the initiative and make your own party.

Lv 45 to 49
For those daredevils, try killing the Mushmom in Henesys. If you are REALLYYYY lucky, you might get a set of Ilbis!! If you don't want to challenge it, solos clerics should stay on Zombie Lupins or try Platoon Chronos while party clerics should stay on Carnival Pq.

Lv 50 to 54
For those extreme daredevils, try killing Zombie Mushmom in the Ant Tunnel. Mass heal it for an easy kill. Good luck with finding Hwabis!! For solo clerics, you might start on Coolie Zombies in the Forest of Dead Trees. You might miss somewhat but if you wanna relieve the boredom, this is the perfect place. For party clerics, you can always hang out with party members at Coolie Zombies too. You won't level as fast as a solo cleric though. If you are Lv51+, try Ludibrium Maze Party Quest. Make sure you don't get lost or you'll get kicked.

Lv 55 to 59
This is the time where any cleric should be perfect for hunting Coolie Zombies. Voodoos and Hoodoos also provide great EXP. But in the Prendergast Mansion, getting lost is very easy. Party members could help you out so this is a disadvantage for the solo clerics unless he/she is good at navigation (this is for GMS players only). Best exp is at Ludibrium Maze Party Quest.

Lv 60 to 64
Best exp will be at Ludibrium Maze Party Quest. If you keep on missing at LMPQ, try Pirate Party Quest. Don't use magic guard there or you'll burn pots very fast. Try to get a 35 000 exp party. You'll level pretty slow at these levels. Don't quit!! You're almost there!!

Lv 65 to 70
Exp heaven is in Singapore. Slimy and Selkie Jr are the best monsters to hunt on right now. I recommend this place more than V/Hoodoos. For Pqers, stay on Pirate Pq or go LMPQ if most channels are empty. You will level very very slow at these levels. Be patient because after lv69 (lol 69 =3) you will qualify as a Priest.

The 3rd Job Advancement

This is how it goes...

1. Go to El Nath and talk to Robeira
2. Go to Ellinia and talk to Grendel
3. Go to Forest of Evil II and talk to Door of Dimension.
4. Go in and kill Grendel's Clone in less than 20 minutes. (Usually takes around 3-5 minutes).
5. Take the Black Charm and talk to Grendel to get Neckless of Strength.
6. Go to El Nath and talk to Robeira.
7. Go to Holy Ground at the Snowfield and prepare one Dark Crystal.
8. Answer the 5 questions from the Big Rock NPC and one mistake equals redo and another Dark Crystal.
9. Obtain the Necklace of Wisdom by answering everything perfect.
10. Go to El Nath and talk to Robeira to become Priest.

It's best to put the 1 SP in Shining Ray and all the AP into INT when Robeira rewards you with them.

End

Well, I think this is the end of the guide. If you request for more info, email me at [email protected] (lol ya, I got a giant email address).
Anyways, feel free to correct spelling mistakes. If you wanna know why you should choose a Cleric instead of a Wizard, click the link below. It will show you how powerful you will become in the 4th job.
