Godlybandit's bandit guide

From MapleWiki

Introduction

What is Maplestory?

Maplestory is an MMORPG(Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). It is a game where to succeed,, you must get level ups. At each level up, you gain skill points and ability points. If you level up and put up stats wisely, then you will be successful. To get a level up, though, you must get a certain amount of experience. Each level the amount of exp gets higher and it takes longer. At some levels you get a job advancement. There are four job advancments (hopefully you can get past first one). For the bandit, there is the rogue, then the bandit, then the chief bandit, and finally the shadower.

How to Play

In MapleStory, most of the time you will be doing quests or training(killing monsters). You set you skills and moves on te controls how ever way you like them. As you move on, you need to buy different items(pots, equips). It is very very important to have a lot of money. With money you can buy your equips, and pots(which you definitely really need, and at third job you get the skill meso explosion(which uses mesos).

1st Job Advancement

Choosing Your Job

If you are reading this guide, you should be a Thief(or going to be one). Here are the pros and cons of being a thief and of being a bandit:

Why A Thief?

Pros:

  • Have Amazing Skills
  • Look really cool
  • Can hit high level monsters
  • Can hit pretty high, especially at at third job
  • Lots of thieves(good if u like parties and being with your own class)

Cons:

  • Skills can take a lot of MP(if you're funded, it doesn't matter)
  • Have low HP
  • At lower levels, hit lower than other classes
  • Lots of thieves(class has too many people)

Bandit

Pros

  • Daggers are cool lol
  • Skills look pro
  • At later stages, can do good damage
  • Do not have to buy stars
  • Assassins are overrated

Cons

  • Have really low HP
  • Need more MP pots
  • Assassins are often stronger

Rolling Your Stats

What to Get

For a perfect bandit, you should try to get your stats like this:

  • Strength:4
  • Dexterity:X
  • Intelligence:4
  • Luck:X

These should be your stats should because thieves do not need strength and intelligence. Note: If it takes a long time to get these stats, then you can settle for a 5/4 or 4/5.

Levels 1-10

AP(Ability Point) Build

The formula for a thief is that dex should be twice your level and the rest into luck(but to make first job advancement you need 25 Dex. An easy way to do this is to put 2 into dex and 3 into luk at each level. However, at level 30, you should put in 1 dex and 4 luk because the equips only require this(example: level 50 equip requirement: 90 dex).

Skill build

When you create your character, go through the training place and get a level up. Put in your AP like in the build says, and look at your skills( they are sooo nub, except Nimble Feet). You have three snails, recovery, and nimble feet. My suggestion is to max nimble feet for sure. Until second job when you get haste, this is a good substitute and really makes you go faster. Choosing one of the others is just your preference.

What to Use

At these levels, you can just stick to your beginner look. But at lvl 10, you should change to using one of the level 10 thief hats, and the cloth vests and pants. And use orange potions as you don't really need MP that much.

Training Areas

When you first begin, go out and kill your first snail (hurray!). For a few levels, train on all types of snails. Also, do most of the quests on Maple Island. Just keep training until you are at level 9. At level 9 with almost full percent, talk to Shanks of Southperry and travel to Victoria Island.

Doing Your First Job Advancement

After you arrive in Victoria Island, get your level up. Now go to Kerning City, the home of the thieves. Go to the Fusion Jazz Cafe and go in the basement. Talk to the Dark Lord and if you are level 10 and have the required stats, then you will advance as a rogue.

Skills

When you advance, you get some skills. They are:

  • Nimble Body: Increases accuracy and avoidability.
    • My Opinion: Not that good of a skill, really, only put it up after you have maxed more important skills if you like.
  • Keen Eyes: Increases accuracy and range.
    • My Opinion: Do not put this skill up. It is for to-be assassins because they use range.
  • Disorder: This skill is used when attacking a monster. After using the skill, the monster will not attack you.
    • My Opinion: This is an ok skill, but there are better ones to put up.
  • Dark Sight: Turns your player "invisible" sort of, and you can pass by monsters without trouble.
    • My Opinion: This is a great skill, and once you have maxed out double stab you should either put up this or disorder.
  • Lucky Seven: Like Double Stab, but it is for the to-be assassin. DO NOT put this skill up.
    • My Opinion: Just don't use it. I don't have an opinion on it.
  • Double Stab: Stab a monster with a dagger two times in one hit. This is your main skill.
    • My Opinion: Wonderful skill. This is the skill you will use when training, and the one you will definitely use most.

Levels 11-20

Skill Build

  • Lvl 10 - +1 into Double Stab(1)
  • Lvl 11 - +3 into Double Stab(4)
  • Lvl 12 - +3 into Double Stab(7)
  • Lvl 13 - +3 into Double Stab(10)
  • Lvl 14 - +3 into Double Stab(13)
  • Lvl 15 - +3 into Double Stab(16)
  • Lvl 16 - +3 into Double Stab(19)
  • Lvl 17 - +1 into Double Stab(Max), +2 into Disorder(2)
  • Lvl 18 - +3 into Disorder(5)
  • Lvl 19 - +3 into Dark Sight(3)
  • Lvl 20 - +3 into Dark Sight(6)

What to Use

At level 11-15 for the weapon. I would recommend you to use the triangular zatamar, and the field dagger. You can start using white potions, and use blue pots now because you start needing them more. For the top, you should buy something from the the night series. For pants, get one of the nightshift pants. For shoes, you should use the ninja sandals. And finally, the hat, use the thief hood. For levels 16-20, buy the triple-tipped zatamar. When you reach lvl 20, use a coconut knife. For the hat, get one of the loosecaps. You should also get the Pao top and bottoms. And for the shoes, get the enamel boots.

Where to Train

I recomend going to Kerning City Construction Site and training on orange and green mushrooms, and octopus. But levels 18-20 you can go into a hidden portal and train on lots of octopus and blue mushrooms. The hidden portal is at the top left hand corner of the structure, on top of the little black/yellow gate thing. Once you get to level 20, you can try a Kerning City PQ(Party Quest) and Ariant PQ, although you will problaby get killed in Ariant.

Levels 21-30

Skill Build

  • Lvl 21 - +3 into Dark Sight(9)
  • Lvl 22 - +3 into Dark Sight(12)
  • Lvl 23 - +3 into Dark Sight(15)
  • Lvl 24 - +3 into Dark Sight(18)
  • Lvl 25 - +2 into Dark Sight(MAX), +1 into Disorder(6)
  • Lvl 26 - +3 into Nimble Body(3)
  • Lvl 27 - +3 into Nimble Body(6)
  • Lvl 28 - +3 into Nimble Body(9)
  • Lvl 29 - +3 into Nimble Body(12)
  • Lvl 30 - +4 into Dagger Mastery or if you're impatient, into Savage Blow)

Final Skills:

  • Nimble Body - 12
  • Keen Eyes - 0
  • Disorder - 6
  • Dark Sight - Max
  • Lucky Seven - 0
  • Double Stab - Max
  • Dagger Mastery or Savage Blow - 4

What to Use

If you got or bought any scrolls use them. For your clothing, stay with the Pao set and then move on to the sneak set. Also, buy a bamboo hat, they add 3 luk! For your weapon, you can choose, there are a lot. I used the stinger, then moved onto a forked dagger, and then a reef claw. It's your choice, though. Potions, you should move onto Mana Elixers now as you would now have enough for that. Continue using white pots.

Where to Train

PQPQPQPQPQ!!!!! PQs give you great exp and in Kerning PQs, some items. Do Ariant or Kerning, they are both really good. At the earlier levels, though you might have a little trouble in Ariant(if you don't ks) and killing king slime. For just regular training,at levels 20-23, go to a place way from Perion, where there are Wooden Masks, Ghost Stumps, and Rocky Masks. If you can't find the place, go to Kerning and the secret portal for octopi and blue mushroom. You can then move up to the ant tunnel. There are horny mushrooms, undead mushrooms, and evil eyes(although you should wait a little longer for evil eyes, thats just a challenge). You could also go to Japan(Mushroom Shrine) and train on ligators.

Second Job Advancement

OK! So you are now level 30? Save your skill points. First, get some pots(kind of a lot). Go back to Kerning City and talk to the Dark Lord again. He will give you a letter. Go two maps right of Kerning and go to the top. You will find the Thief Instructor. Hand him the letter and he will transport you to a place with Cold Eyes(they are weakened), and Blue Mushrooms(they are stronger). Kill a bunch of these and collect 30 Dark Marbles. When you're finished, talk to the Thief Instructor again and he will award you with the Proof of a Hero. Now go back to Kerning City and talk to the Dark Lord again. When he asks you the question, choose to be a bandit. Congrats! You are now second job! Now you can put your skill points in a second job skill. Do dagger mastery or if you're impatient savage blow(you now have 4 sp!)

Skills

  • Dagger Mastery

Description: Increase the mastery and accuracy while using a dagger.

My Opinion: A very good skill. Helps you hit higher and higher monsters.

  • Endure

Description: While hanging on a rope or ladder, you will gain HP.

My Opinion: A pretty good skill, but you can always use pots.

  • Dagger Booster

Description: Speeds up the attack when using a dagger.

My Opinion: A great skill. It really makes you attack so much faster.

  • Haste

Description: This is a party skill. Everyone in the party will move a lot faster, and be able to jump higher.

My Opinion: A really good skill. You get an incredible speed and jump boost.

  • Savage Blow

Description: Attack 6 times in 1 hit with a dagger.

My Opinion: Beast! Savage does tons of damage once it gets high, and it looks really nice.
