FireEragon's 1-200 Party Magician-Bishop Guide

From MapleWiki

Welcome To My Guide!

Welcome to FireEragon's level 1-200 Party magician to bishop guide. In this guide, I will give as much information as I can and try to give you some great builds, training spots, and more. If you're interested, read on!

Note - Feel free to add anything you want to the guide, but PLEASE credit yourself after your change, by doing -by "your name here". If you would like to do something REALLLY major, please PM me first.

Before Starting Off

First, let's list the pros and cons of being a party magician-bishop.

Pros

Wanted in boss runs and parties, even if you are a bit lower level
Fun (in my opinion)
Use little-no hp pots
Use little-no mp pots
Great for unfunded people (save money on potions)
Don't have to have great damage because people don't look down on your damage factor
Extremely good reputation, a well liked class
Going to get rare after big bang (which is a HUGE con as well, but it's also a pro because there will be less competition and the class will be more wanted)
Passive and party buffs get better after big bang
Wanted more then solo-clerics

Cons

Terrible damage, even though they are a non-attacking class
DPM factor gets even worse after big bang
No room for mistakes, if you screw up your party is screwed as well
From 1-70 is slow, and without a party, it's like hell
Damage is worse then a solo-cleric
70-120 is basically relying on other people that rely on you, because your damage is not that great at all

Is the journey to becoming a level 200 party-bishop worth it? Personally, I think it is, but for some people, it's not. Here are some factors that may make your journey difficult. It'll be hard to be a party cleric-bishop if you

Love damage
Damage wh0re
Love to be independent
Don't really want to interact with people and be in a party with them
Don't like to rely on people
Don't like to have people rely on you
Very competitive
Impatient

But hey, if you want to be part of us, then go right ahead without hesitation! For some builds, pointers, guides, and more, you can always refer to my guide!

The Beginner Training Guide

Training Guide

To be honest, I'm not too sure about this, it's been a while. But thankfully, it's VERY self-explanatory and as long as you have common sense, this should be a breeze.

Levels 1-8 - Continue to do as many quests as there are, the quests will tell you what to do. Do not grind on the monsters, or choose the skip the tutorial, as it will be alot slower if you do so.

The Beginner Skills

- Three Snails. Hurls snail shells to attack monsters from long distance. Max Level is 3.

   * Level 1 MP -10; Damage 10
   * Level 2 MP -15; Damage 25
   * Level 3 MP -20; Damage 40
   * My Opinion - Very useful, because the damage is better then the regular attack

- Recovery. Enables the user to recover HP constantly for 30 sec.

   * Level 1 MP -10; Recover 24 HP in 30 sec.
   * Level 2 MP -20; Recover 48 HP in 30 sec.
   * Level 3 MP -30; Recover 72 HP in 30 sec.
   * My Opinion - Useless. You get free beginner potions, anyway.

- Nimble Feet. Enables the character to move around quickly for a very short amount of time.

   * Level 1 MP -10; speed +10 for 4 sec.
   * Level 2 MP -15; speed +15 for 8 sec.
   8 Level 3 MP -20; speed +20 for 12 sec.
   * My Opinion - Great for when you're walking around and you don't have teleport yet.

The Beginner Skill Build Guide

Level One - Wait...You start as level one, and you get SP when you level up, so at level one you get no SP.

Level 2 - 1 SP into Nimble Feet

Level 3 - 1 SP into Nimble Feet

Level 4 - 1 SP into 3 Snails

Level 5 - 1 SP into 3 Snails

Level 6 - 1 SP into 3 Snails

Level 7 - 1 SP into Nimble Feet

Level 8 - Job advancement time, no SP given!

End Result -

Nimble Feet MAXED (3/3)

3 Snails MAXED (3/3)

Recovery at 0 (0/3)

Reasoning - First, 2 SP into nimble feet to speed up the walking around quests and all that stuff. Then, at level 4, you start to have to fight monsters and whatnot. Max 3 Snails for quicker killing. Then, finish it off by maxing nimble feet because it'll be occasionally used ALL THE WAY until teleport is obtained. IMO, recovery is absolutely useless.

The Magician Skills

Yay! It's time to throw the newby beginner stage and move on to the magician. The fun has started!

Skills

- Improving Max MP Increase. While having a Level UP, if AP is used on Max MP, it raises the level of increase for Max MP. Max Level - 10. Requirements - 5 on Improving MP Recovery

Level 1 - If MaxMP Level's up, 2, if AP is applied, add 1 more

Level 5 - If MaxMP Level's up, 10, if AP is applied. add 5 more

Level 10 - If MaxMP Level's up, 20, if AP is applied, add 10 more

What I think - Max it. Now. First thing to max. Don't wait. MAX IT! The extra MP is CRUCIAL for you.

- Improving MP Recovery. Recovers more MP every 10 seconds. Max level - 16.

Level 1 - Recover additional MP

Level 16 - Recover additional MP

What I think - OKish skill. There is some controversy on whether to max it, but I'd say go ahead and max it.

- Magic Armor. Increases the character's weapon defense. Max level - 20

Level 1 - MP -8, Weapon Def. +2 for 54 seconds.

Level 10 - MP -10, Weapon Def +20 for 200 seconds.

Level 20 - MP -20, Weapon Def +40 for 400 seconds.

What I think - It's a good skill all right, but it's worse then the other skills. There is a controversy on magic armor v magic guard but magic guard wins hands down.

- Magic Guard. Moves some of the damage taken into MP instead of HP. Max level - 20

Level 1 MP -6; Replace 11% of HP damage as MP for 111 seconds.

Level 10 MP -8; Replace 42% of HP damage as MP for 330 seconds.

Level 20 MP -12; Replace 80% of HP damage as MP for 600 seconds.

What I think - Extremely important. It wastes a ton of MP pots but you need this skill nevertheless. People who say that you don't NEED this skill probably haven't gotten past level 70. At level 70+ (or sometimes 50+) and you have ZERO on this skill, you WILL die in one hit if you are bossing. At level 200, even if you only half-leveled this skill you are still screwed. MAX IT! It's pretty useless under level 30 but later on you need it.

- Eneregy Bolt. Shoots a bolt of lightning at the enemy. Max Level - 20

Level 1 - MP -6; Basic attack 20, mastery 15%

Level 10 - MP -9; Basic attack 35, mastery 35%

Level 20 - MP -14; Basic attack 55, mastery 60%

What I think - It's been proven that it's worse then Magic Claw. Put just one point in it so you can unlock magic guard.

- Magic Claw. Use MP to attack an enemy twice. Max Level - 20. Requirements - 1 on Energy Bolt.

Level 1: MP -10; Basic attack 11 x 2 Hit, mastery 15%

Level 10: MP -13; Basic attack 23 x 2 Hit, mastery 35%

Level 20: MP -20; Basic attack 40 x 2 Hit, mastery 60%

What I think - You NEED this skill maxed. If you followed my build, it will be used up to level 70 and maybe even a little bit after.

The Magician Skill Build

Well, let's see. There are 67 points to use, so let's put those points into good use.

Lv8: 1 Energy Bolt

Lv9: 3 Improving MP Recovery

Lv10: 2 Improving MP Recovery // 1 Improving Max MP Increase

Lv11: 3 Improving Max MP Increase

Lv12: 3 Improving Max MP Increase

Lv13: 3 Improving Max MP Increase (maxed)

Lv14: 3 Magic Claw

Lv15: 3 Magic Claw

Lv16: 3 Magic Claw

Lv17: 3 Magic Claw

Lv18: 3 Magic Claw

Lv19: 3 Magic Claw

Lv20: 2 Magic Claw (maxed) // 1 Improving MP Recovery

Lv21: 3 Improving MP Recovery

Lv22: 3 Improving MP Recovery

Lv23: 3 Improving MP Recovery

Lv24: 1 Improving MP Recovery (maxed) // 2 Magic Guard

Lv25: 3 Magic Guard

Lv26: 3 Magic Guard

Lv27: 3 Magic Guard

Lv28: 3 Magic Guard

Lv29: 3 Magic Guard

Lv30: 3 Magic Guard (maxed)

Reasoning - Well, this is a very common build and I pretty much see every magician nowadays using it. The first SP is into energy bolt to unlock magic claw AND to give a damage attack. Then, we add 3 SP into improving max MP recovery to unlock improving max MP increase. We max improving max MP increase so that we can maximize our MP. Then, we max magic claw so we can actually kill the monsters. Afterwards, we max MP recovery to save pots. Finally, we max Magic Guard because that's when we finally need it.

End Results -"""

MAX Magic Claw (20/20)

MAX Max MP Recovery (16/16)

MAX Max MP Increase (10/10)

MAX Magic Guard (20/20)

1 Energy Bolt (1/20)

0 Magic Armor (0/20)

The Magician Training Guide

Level 8-15 - First, do all of Grendel the Really Old's regular chain quest that tells you to kill slimes, more slimes, even more slimes, and then dark stumps. Afterwards, do his other chain quest that will lead to a boss.

Level 15-20 - Continue to do Grendel's chain quests (yes ALL of them). If you finish before level 20, go on to HPQ which is decent EXP at your level. Also, you can do varieties of quests that give good EXP. If you have 2x or 4x EXP and wish to use it now (which I wouldn't recommend, then you could go and grind on orange/green mushrooms. If you're more funded, you can go straight to horny/zombie mushrooms. However, Grendel's chain quests are still the best EXP.

Level 20-25 - If you haven't already, finish Grendel's chain quests. Afterwards, go ahead and KPQ. Another alternative is to go to Sleepywood and do the Rememberer's mushroom chain quest.

Level 25-30 - You should be finished with Grendel's chain quests. Continue to KPQ if you have great patience, or you can finish the Remember's chain quests. If you are on 2x/4x, grind in the ant tunnels, do KPQ stage one grind, or another place like evil eyes.

The Beginner Cleric (lv 30-50) Skills

Excellent! I see that you've job advanced into a cleric, huh? Well, this guide will tell you how to shoot straight from 30-50. However, 30-50 are difficult levels for the cleric, so you'd better have the will and determination!

Skills - Are you exited?

- Absorbs the enemy's MP when attacking with Magic skills, until it reaches 0. Max level - 20

Level 1: For every attack; 11% success rate, absorb 21% of the enemy's max MP.

Level 10: For every attack; 20% success rate, absorb 30% of the enemy's max MP.

Level 20: For every attack; 30% success rate, absorb 40% of the enemy's max MP.

What I think - Many people think that this skill can be sacrificed, but I disagree. I think that it's important to be maxed especially as a party cleric. The only time you MIGHT sacrifice this skill is if you are a solo cleric OR you just wish to max holy arrow.

- Recovers the HP of all party members around the area. The amount of healing depends on the number of people being healed, and the undead monster in the vicinity of this will receive damage. Max Level - 30

Level 1: MP -12; recovery rate 10%

Level 15: MP -12; recovery rate 150%

Level 30: MP -24; recovery rate 300%

What I think - Max it. You are a cleric, so you will max heal. It's pretty simple.

- Use the arrow keys to teleport to other places in the same map on a set distance. Max Level - 20

Level 1: MP -60; with 130 in distance.

Level 10: MP -33; with 130 in distance.

Level 20: MP -13; with 150 in distance.

What I think - You SHOULD max it, but if there is ONE skill to not max besides holy arrow, it'd be between this one and invincible. However, because there's nothing better to max, max this skill near the end but before invincible.

- Temporarily increases the weapon defense, magic defense, accuracy, and avoidability of all party members around the area. This cannot be combined with a skill or a potion. Requires 5 points in invincible. Max level - 20

Level 1: MP -12; +1 on accuracy, avoidability, weapon and magic defense for 10 seconds

Level 10: MP -12; +10 on accuracy, avoidability, weapon and magic defense for 100 seconds

Level 20: MP -24; +20 on accuracy, avoidability, weapon and magic defense for 200 seconds

What I think - Being a party cleric, you are highly wanted for this skill. Max it!

- Temporarily reduce the weapon damage received. It has no effect, however, on the magic attack. Max level - 20

Level 1: MP -15; weapon damage -11% for 15 seconds.

Level 10: MP -15; weapon damage -20% for 150 seconds.

Level 20: MP -30; weapon damage -30% for 300 seconds.

- Shoots a holy arrow at a single enemy. Applies enourmous damage to undead/evil monsters. Max level - 30

1.MP -12; Basic attack 22, mastery 15%

15.MP -12; Basic attack 50, mastery 35%

30.MP -24; Basic attack 80, mastery 60%

What I think - It's not worth it as a party cleric. It's only a BIT stronger then magic claw, and even on undead/evil monsters, the difference in damage is signifigent. I would reccommend not to max it.

Edit - Took out this build because it simply sucks and I don't want to put up a build that sucks, nor do I want to lead anyone astray and have them follow it. If you REALLY want to follow this build, please google it.

The Beginner Cleric (lv 30-50) Training Guide

Level 30-35 - Mushroom Kingdom ALL THE WAY! Keep going until you finish and get the medal. Not only is the medal amazing, the EXP is amazing. If you get bored, occasionally to CPQ or grind at either the ant tunnels (heal the zombie mushrooms but it'll be in ineffective) or wild boars. If you have the funding, you can buy wins at CPQ.

Level 35-40 - Finish Mushroom Kingdom, and then CPQ up to 40. If you're on 8x, 4x, or maybe 2x, grind at the ant tunnels and heal the zombie mushrooms. If you're more funded meaning you have better equips and money to buy a lot of pots, then you can go to Jr. Wraiths. If you're bored of CPQ and Grinding, you can go to the Kerning Square chain quests.

Level 40-45 - Again, you can CPQ. For grinding, if you're less funded, stick with Jr. Wraiths. If you're more funded, go to zombie lupins (highly recommended) or platoon/master chronus. Another alternative is to go to nightmares in Zipangu.

Level 45-50 - You COULD do CPQ, but it gets REALLY boring. Even if you are on 1x, I'd say go and train on zombie lupins if you're unfunded, platoon/master chronus. if you're more funded, then go to Wraiths.

The Advanced Cleric (lv 51-70) Skills (Yes I know they're the same as the beginner cleric)

The Advaned Cleric (lv 51-70) Skill Builds

WORK IN PROGRESS!
