Family System
Description
The family system was created on 7th April 2009 (04/07/09). It is a great way for higher level players to be a role model a mentor to 'noobs', friends, relatives, siblings, strangers, and just about anyone! Pay it forward and be a mentor to Juniors. What is a Junior, you ask? Well, a Junior is character you'll be sponsoring, helping in his / her journey in MapleStory. If you take good care of them, you'll be rewarded in many ways! Here is a step-by-step guide on how to begin your family.
The UI
Guide
Find someone you would like to sponsor as a Junior. You cannot be more than 20 levels higher than your Junior.
Once you have found a player to add as your Junior, press the add Junior button on the Family window (hotkey: F) or Family pedigree. Once the person you've entered as the Junior agrees to it, that character becomes your Junior. You can only add 2 Juniors.
You will then become a Senior. As a Senior, you should support you Juniors and help them explore the world of Maple. Try to nurture them as much as you can, not just provide them with items a mesos. the better you take care of your Juniors the better Rep you will get.
Pedigree
A Pedigree shows Juniors and seniors 2 levels above and below you. It also shows the total family members, and the leader of the family. Here, you can also see how many points your family members have, and their level.

Reputation
Reputation points are points collected when your junior levels, or gains experience. Note that as your junior levels, if he/she happens to overtake you, your reputation points gained from him/her are halfed. Reputation points can be used in the "Entitlement" section of the family window.
Entitlement
Entitlements are a number of 'buffs' which you can use with reputation points. There are currently 11 available entitlements. Note that each entitlement can only be used once per day.
- Transfer to Family member
[Target] Myself [Rep Used] 300 Will be transfered directly to map where the family member is located in.
- Summon family member
[Target] Family member [Rep Used] 500 Summons one of the family members to the map you are located in.
- 1.5 X Drop Rate for Me(15min)
[Target] Myself [Rep Used] 700 Drop rate will be increased by 50%. The effect will be disregarded if overlapped with other drop rate event.
- 1.5 X EXP for Me(15min)
[Target] Myself [Rep Used] 800 EXP gained from monsters will be increased by 50%. The effect will be disregarded if overlapped with other EXP event.
- Unity of family
[Condition] 6 juniors online from pedigree [Duration] 30min [Effect] Drop rate and EXP gained will be increased by 100%. The effect will be disregarded if overlapped with other Drop Rate event and EXP event.
- 2 X Drop Rate for Me(15min)
[Target] Myself [Rep Used] 1,200 Drop rate will be increased by 100%. The effect will be disregarded if overlapped with other drop rate event.
- 2 X EXP for Me(15min)
[Target] Myself [Rep Used] 1,200 EXP gained from monsters will be increased by 100%. The effect will be disregarded if overlapped with other EXP event.
- 2 X Drop Rate for Me(30min)
[Target] Myself [Rep Used] 2,000 Drop rate will be increased by 100%. The effect will be disregarded if overlapped with other drop rate event.
- 2 X EXP for Me(30min)
[Target] Myself [Rep Used] 2,000 EXP gained from monsters will be increased by 100%. The effect will be disregarded if overlapped with other EXP event.
- 2 X Drop Rate for Party(30min)
[Target] My party [Rep Used] 4,000 Drop rate will be increased by 100%. The effect will be disregarded if overlapped with other drop rate event.
- 2 X EXP for Party(30min)
[Target] My party [Rep Used] 5,000 EXP garined from monsters will be increased by 100%. The effect will be disregarded if overlapped with other EXP event.
