About This Guide

Welcome, this guide will teach you how to become a DEXless bandit, a very powerful class in MapleStory. I'm surprised that nobody else has made a DEXless bandit guide yet. You may seem weak at first, but when you get to Lvl 40 or more, you're seriously strong!

This thread was made by Jaspar, with spell checking by INomMayo.

IGN (In Game Name) is: jaspaRR, INomMayo

My world is: Bera, INomMayo's is Zenith.

Step 1 (Learn What A 'Thief' Is)

To create a DEXless bandit, you need to know the basics of a thief. To learn what a thief is and how to become one, click here: [1] Now that you know what a thief is, let us begin.

Step 2 (Learn What A 'DEXless Bandit' Is)

A DEXless bandit is simply someone who creates a thief, gets the necessary 25 DEX to make the thief and stops adding DEX there; and when they are at Lvl 30, becomes a bandit. The point of a DEXless bandit is to not add DEX and add much more LUK instead, causing damage to rise but at the cost of not being able to buy normal armour. The armour that you will purchase instead is Lvl 10 armour from Lvl 10 - Lvl 24, then at lvl 25 you may purchase a Brown Bamboo Hat and a Bathrobe bought from Showa Sauna. Then at Lvl 30, you will use a Sauna Robe. More on equipment later. You may seem weak from Lvl 10-30 compared to other classes and even other bandits, that's because other bandits have better daggers at that time. More on that later also.

Step 3 (Make A Character [AP] )

If you read the thief guide, it should have told you what stats to have when you roll the dice, but if you only glanced through it, this may help you. Do NOT get random stats. Make sure you get these stats or similar:

- *∞ is any number. The reason the two main stats needed for a thief is any number is because there is a certain amount of stats that is divided up into those four, therefore, if you get a 4 or 5 in STR and INT, you will definitely have a lot of LUK/DEX.

Outcomes

You'll need 25 DEX by Lvl 10 and then, after that, you will NEVER need to add DEX again. As shown in other guides, your LUK rises by 50 LUK every 10 levels, which affects your damage lots.

  • Lvl 10: DEX=25, LUK=37
  • Lvl 20: DEX=25, LUK=87
  • Lvl 30: DEX=25, LUK=137
  • Lvl 40: DEX=25, LUK=187
  • Lvl 50: DEX=25, LUK=237
  • Lvl 60: DEX=25, LUK=287
  • Lvl 70: DEX=25, LUK=337
  • Lvl 80: DEX=25, LUK=387
  • Lvl 90: DEX=25, LUK=437

Step 4 (SP)

Well, SP means Skill Points and you need to choose these wisely, therefore, I have chose some different SP builds to let you decide what you want to be:

DEXless Bandit:

Well, this is what I did. It's the exact same as a normal bandit, being a DEXless bandit, your SP doesn't change, only your AP changes.

  • Lvl 10: +1 to Double Stab
  • Lvl 11-16: +3 to Double Stab per level
  • Lvl 17: +1 Double Stab, +2 Nimble Body
  • Lvl 18-23: +3 Nimble Body per level
  • Lvl 24: +3 Disorder
  • Lvl 25: +3 Dark Sight
  • Lvl 26-30: +3 Dark Sight per level

End Result:

  • Max Double Stab
  • Max Nimble body
  • 18 Dark Sight
  • 3 Disorder

DEXless Sindit:

Basically the exact same build as a normal Assassin, except instead of choosing assassin when you're Lvl 30, you choose bandit, therefore training without using Double Stab and using Lucky 7 instead, which may make you level faster than normal bandits from Lvl 30-37. After Lvl 37, you don't really use Double stab anyway, because you have Lvl 21 Savage Blow, which overpowers it. The only bad thing about it is you only have half Dark Sight, which isn't a must, but when your Lvl 120 or more it is important to have maxed Dark Sight already, but lets not think that far ahead.

  • Lvl 10: +1 to Lucky 7
  • Lvl 11: +3 to Lucky 7
  • Lvl 12: +3 to Lucky 7
  • Lvl 13: +3 to Nimble Body
  • Lvl 14-19: +2 Lucky 7, +1 Keen Eyes per level
  • Lvl 20: +1 Lucky Seven, +2 Keen Eyes
  • Lvl 21: +3 to Disorder
  • Lvl 22: +1 Dark Sight, +2 Nimble Body
  • Lvl 23-27: +3 Nimble Body per level
  • Lvl 28-30: +3 Dark Sight per level

End Result:

  • Max Lucky 7
  • Max Keen Eyes
  • Max Nimble body
  • 10 Dark Sight
  • 3 Disorder

Note: As long as you have the end result the same as mine, you may choose any order to allocate them in.

Step 5 (Training)

Bandits are very hard to train, if you don't see yourself as a hardcore trainer, then you may want to consider being a sindit. It may help your training slightly. Being a DEXless bandit even slows your training more, because you don't have a decent weapon yet, but if your dead set on becoming a DEXless bandit, here are some good training spots for Lvl 10-30:

COPIED DIRECTLY OFF Macaroni's Bandit training guide on Basilmarket with a little bit of things cut because at this level, you're weaker than normal bandits. I also added some stuff too.

Lvl 10-20

Monster(s): Henesys PQ Map(s): ---- Comments: GREAT Exp at that level if you can get it. I loved doing this. It was even good Exp until like Lvl 25 or so. So if you are a PQ person, this is GREAT.

Monster(s): Green Snails, Red Snails, Shrooms, Blue Snails, Slimes Map(s): Victoria Road, Right Around Lith Harbor, Henesys Hunting Ground 1 Comments: Still good Exp in the earlier Lvl 10's.

Monster(s): Slimes Map(s): The Tree That Rose Comments: My personal favourite, I went from Lvl 10-15 here. Good Exp all around, specially if you can 2hko. ^^

Monster(s): Orange Mushrooms Map(s): Kerning Construction Site Comments: Fun to kill, good until Lvl 15.

Lvl 20-30

Monster(s): Kerning PQ Map(s): ---- Comments: Once you hit Lvl 21, if you can get into this thing, the levels will soar by. Also, you might get some good NPCable stuff or even some nice scrolls!

Monster(s): Pigs, Ribbon Pigs Map(s): Hidden-Street, Pig Beach Comments: Still good Exp at the earlier Lvl 20's.

Monster(s): Green Mushroom, Horny Mushroom Map(s): Victoria Road, Tree Dungeon, Forest Up North II Comments: This is where I trained at Lvl 20 - 28. It was the easiest and good Exp too.

Monster(s): Horny Mushroom, Zombie Mushroom Map(s): Dungeon: Ant Tunnel 1 Comments: This is where I trained at Lvl 28 - 30.

This is where I trained:

  • Henesys Pq till Lvl 18
  • Pig Beach from Lvl 19 to Lvl 23
  • Kerning Pq till Lvl 28
  • Ant tunnel from Lvl 29 to Lvl 31

Also, do quests if you want. I did :D

Step 6 (Second Job)

Alright. You spent lots of time being a DEXless dagger thief, and may be the hardest class to train, but now your Lvl 30! Time to finally become a bandit.

You need to talk to the Dark Lord first, who's in Kerning City, the same guy who made you become a thief. He'll tell you to go find some second job guy.

Move through these maps through the right: Kerning City > The place to the right of Kerning City > The map where the second job guy is. (Can't remember what each map is called.) So basically after talking to the Dark Lord just go two maps to the right.

Second job guy will take you to a special map where you have to collect 30 Dark Marbles from Cold Eyes and Blue Mushrooms. Don't worry, these aren't real cold eyes, they're a lot weaker in this map. Get the 30 marbles and head back to the Dark Lord.

The Dark Lord will ask you if you want to become an Assassin or a Bandit. Choose bandit.

You are now a DEXless Bandit. :D Congratulations, or Congratz, or Gratz, or Gz or whatever.

Step 7 (Make A Character [AP Second Job] )

DEXless Bandit:

Well, since I'm only Lvl 38 at the moment, I can't tell from knowledge but I've read that it's better to go Dagger Mastery first. I didn't though, I just wanted Savage Blow to be maxed as early as possible but it's really your choice.

  • Lvl 30: +1 Dagger Mastery
  • Lvl 31: +3 Dagger Mastery
  • Lvl 32: +3 Dagger Mastery
  • Lvl 33: +3 Dagger Mastery
  • Lvl 34: +3 Dagger Mastery
  • Lvl 35: +3 Dagger Mastery
  • Lvl 36: +3 Dagger Mastery
  • Lvl 37: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
  • Lvl 38: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
  • Lvl 39: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
  • Lvl 40: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
  • Lvl 41: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
  • Lvl 42: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
  • Lvl 43: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
  • Lvl 44: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
  • Lvl 45: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
  • Lvl 46: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
  • Lvl 47: +1 Dagger Mastery , +2 Dagger Booster
  • Lvl 48: +3 Dagger Booster
  • Lvl 49: +1 Dagger Booster , +2 Haste
  • Lvl 50: +3 Haste
  • Lvl 51: +3 Haste
  • Lvl 52: +3 Haste
  • Lvl 53: +3 Haste

  • Lvl 56: +3 Dagger Booster
  • Lvl 57: +3 Dagger Booster
  • Lvl 58: +3 Dagger Booster
  • Lvl 59: +3 Dagger Booster
  • Lvl 60: +2 Dagger Booster , +1 Endure
  • Lvl 61: +3 Endure
  • Lvl 62: +3 Endure
  • Lvl 63: +3 Endure
  • Lvl 64: +3 Endure
  • Lvl 65: +3 Endure
  • Lvl 66: +3 Endure
  • Lvl 67: +1 Endure , +2 Disorder OR +2 Dark Sight
  • Lvl 68: +3 Steal
  • Lvl 69: +3 Steal
  • Lvl 70: +3 Steal

End Result:

  • Dagger Mastery: Level 20
  • Endure: Level 20
  • Dagger Booster: Level 20
  • Haste: Level 20
  • Steal: Level 9
  • Savage Blow: Level 30

DEXless Sindit:

Well, since your a bandit that uses a claw, you'er weaker than assassins but since bandits are very weak from Lvl 30-37 compared to most other jobs and since they don't have Savage Blow, you might want to max Savage Blow first, because whats the point of getting Lvl 19 dagger mastery and not being able to use it because your using a claw?

  • Lvl 30: +1 Savage Blow: Dagger
  • Lvl 31: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
  • Lvl 32: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
  • Lvl 33: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
  • Lvl 34: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
  • Lvl 35: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
  • Lvl 36: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
  • Lvl 37: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
  • Lvl 38: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
  • Lvl 39: +3 Savage Blow: Dagger
  • Lvl 40: +2 Savage Blow: Dagger, +1 Dagger Mastery
  • Lvl 41: +3 Dagger Mastery
  • Lvl 42: +3 Dagger Mastery
  • Lvl 43: +3 Dagger Mastery
  • Lvl 44: +3 Dagger Mastery
  • Lvl 45: +3 Dagger Mastery
  • Lvl 46: +3 Dagger Mastery
  • Lvl 47: +1 Dagger Mastery , +2 Dagger Booster
  • Lvl 48: +3 Dagger Booster
  • Lvl 49: +1 Dagger Booster , +2 Haste
  • Lvl 50: +3 Haste
  • Lvl 51: +3 Haste
  • Lvl 52: +3 Haste
  • Lvl 53: +3 Haste
  • Lvl 54: +3 Haste
  • Lvl 55: +3 Haste
  • Lvl 56: +3 Dagger Booster
  • Lvl 57: +3 Dagger Booster
  • Lvl 58: +3 Dagger Booster
  • Lvl 59: +3 Dagger Booster
  • Lvl 60: +2 Dagger Booster , +1 Endure
  • Lvl 61: +3 Endure
  • Lvl 62: +3 Endure
  • Lvl 63: +3 Endure
  • Lvl 64: +3 Endure
  • Lvl 65: +3 Endure
  • Lvl 66: +3 Endure
  • Lvl 67: +1 Endure , +2 Disorder OR +2 Dark Sight
  • Lvl 68: +3 Steal
  • Lvl 69: +3 Steal
  • Lvl 70: +3 Steal

End

Alright, thats pretty much how to create a DEXless bandit, the stuff below is important too. Basically Quickly: There's a type of DEXless bandit that uses STR 35 and you probably will want to have a character before this character, because a non-funded DEXless bandit isn't as strong as what it could have been. Also equipment and "thank you's."

Fandits

Fandits are a special type of DEXless bandits. They add just enough strength to get a fan. A fan is a Lvl 65 piece of equipment which is much more powerful than the Wagner. It requires STR 35 though, so unless you can afford a Strength/Attack shield and a Zhelm, it's probably not worth it.

I don't know that much about fandits though, but if you think that they sound better than DEXless bandits, Google a guide on one.

Note: I've heard that if you plan to go over Lvl 110, Fandits aren't worth it. I wouldn't know why, it's just that someone said that on Basilmarket.

Note #2: GMS and MSEA should be getting a Lvl 64 DEXless Maple weapon later this year, it's called a Maple Dark Mate so it's probably a waste of time adding STR. Maple Dark Mate: Dark Mate Click the show button under weapons, the first one will be the dark mate, the reason why the other dagger there, the Asura Dagger, isn't as good is because of the speed difference. Also, if you don't care about speed, then the Lvl 75: Kebob (GMS) or Skewer (MSEA) should do fine.

Funding and Mesos

You'd probably want to have a character before this one or have decent funding. You won't need anything for 1-29, but when you hit lvl 30, you may as well grab a sauna and a pair of black snow shoes. But what you really need is a decent attack Korean fan around 60+ attack(lvl 35 dagger) and a decent attack wg.

Before you read on, please decide on what funding you are:

  • 1 Little or no mesos: (less than 1mil)
  • 2 Just enough mesos: (1mil - 5mil)
  • 3 Enough mesos: (5mil - 10mil)
  • 4 Lots of mesos: (10mil - 30mil)
  • 5 UBER RICH: (30mil +)

Little or no mesos

Well, if you don't have many mesos at lvl 30, don't sweat. There are many quests that give you scrolls worth 2m+ each.

Just enough mesos

You'll probably have enough mesos to get some decent equips. Use it on the things that you need, not things that look cool or whatever.

Enough mesos

You should have enough mesos to fund it.

Lots of mesos

You will definitely have enough to fund it and have more to spare.

UBER RICH

You may be able to buy the top end stuff, depending on how much money you actually have.

Equips

These are the equips that you may be able to afford to make your character stronger. The other thief equipments are for thieves with normal dex. The numbers before indicate if you'll be able to get them:

Eg: Blah Blah Blah 1,2,3,4,5 << This indicates that all types of fundings can afford this item.

  • Lvl: 10 6 or 7 Attack work glove 3,4,5 (all work gloves with attack under that, won't be very helpful.
  • Lvl: 10 8+ Attack work glove 4,5
  • Lvl: 10 normal armour 1,2,3,4,5
  • Lvl: 25 Brown Bamboo Hat 1,2,3,4,5
  • Lvl: 30 10 dex sauna 2,3,4,5 (only necessary if you want to wear dex equips before the Korean fan.)
  • Lvl: 30 10 luk sauna 4,5
  • Lvl: 30 5 dex black snow shoes 4,5 (only necessary if you want to wear dex equips before the Korean fan.)
  • Lvl: 35 Less than 60 attack Korean fan 1,2,3,4,5
  • Lvl: 35 Less than 64 attack Korean fan 2,3,4,5
  • Lvl: 35 65+ attack Korean fan 3,4,5
  • Lvl: 50 Zhelm 5

Thank you's

Thanks to Macaroni for the training spots, this bandit guide Bandit Guide because without it, I wouldn't know where to begin and to my readers :D
