Also, how would one go about adding collapsible tables?  It appears as though the wiki does not currently have this functionality, so an admin may have to edit the wiki's source if this is the case. It's mostly a stylistic detail, but it would be a nice touch, especially for pages with multiple templates at the bottom or large drop lists (see [[Slime (Monster)#Drops|Slime]] as an example of the latter).

I really think you guys should divide the wiki based on version (e.g. in a similar manner to which different language wikis are set up and have the same article available for multiple versions. I don't really like the current system of naming a page "Name in one version/Name in another version/Name in a third version" and redirecting the individual names to that page. I think the names on the wiki should be based on global, which is intended to be able to be played by anyone, and redirecting the names from other versions to the global name. This also means at least one fewer redirect for every monster/place/item with multiple names. ...a bunch of garbage! This is not the way a Wiki is supposed to be at all. This might be my view because I edit three other Wikis: Wikipedia, RuneScape Wiki, and Homestar Runner Wiki. This is nothing like those, which are comprehensive, informative, and useful. All I see here are worthless guides that explain almost nothing about the game mechanics. The RS Wiki, for example, gives detailed information about monsters, quests, NPCs, areas, and mechanics, and has almost NO guides (but we do have some).

I, for one, think this Wiki can be a lot better and I'm going to do my part to make it so. I will include full comments on my edits as to why things were done, and please, help me out to do this as it is a hefty job. I'm going to add a quality control section as well to mark which sections have been inspected. Nobody has been doing anything for awhile here (I've been reading this Wiki for a long while, and recently signed up as I was getting sick of nobody doing anything). Can more than one class be mixed and to what point does it stop mixing? Seriously I have seen some wierd hybrids my friend is a warrior but also has thief attributes for some reason. Since the infobox templates automatically place images into tables for you, image files should use the same naming conventions assumed by the infobox templates.


What do you mean, 'attributes'? Do you mean the LUK and DEX or the skills? He may just want LUK to lose less EXP when dying, as for DEX, it's an essential for warriors. If he has the thief skills, he's probably playing on a different server eg. Carestory, bannedstory, etc etc.
When I add items to tables, most of the time it will create broken links for the images just because the file name was off. It creates a lot of extra work adding those image links in manually.


Ok, I'm gussing your friend maayybe messed up on the selection process for AP and has too much Luk or Dex. However, there WERE cases of Str Magicians, Magicians that used strength and Maces, back in the day of Mace Mastery. The format should be Item_Name.png


For example, Brown_Guiltian.png instead of Brownguiltian.gif


Another problem that needs to be worked out is the page name being different from the image name, such as in [[Black Jangoon Pants (M)]].  There is no _(M) suffix in the file name, so even though the rest of the name follows convention, it still results in broken image links.  I guess it depends on whether you want to keep gender suffixes in page names or not.  I personally can't think of an example where the male and female versions of an item both had the same name.

Standardized Formatting for Drop Tables

I've noticed that there are multiple things on the wiki without a standardized format.

Aside from using proper grammar on all pages (which should be a no-brainer), I suggest that all user-created guides should be under your own user's page, as in User:YOURNAME/YOURGUIDE. This way it's under the user namespace, and it makes the wiki more tidy.

I really think you guys should divide the wiki based on version (e.g. in a similar manner to which different language wikis are set up and have the same article available for multiple versions. I don't really like the current system of naming a page "Name in one version/Name in another version/Name in a third version" and redirecting the individual names to that page. I think the names on the wiki should be based on global, which is intended to be able to be played by anyone, and redirecting the names from other versions to the global name. This also means at least one fewer redirect for every monster/place/item with multiple names. Actually majority of people that play MapleSEA (Singaporeans) can read and write english, also we need Europe MS because people there can also understand. English IS a global language and many people around the world, and different versions can understand it. Hi, maplers!!! I'm relatively new to this "Wiki" concept, but at the moment I'm beginning a newfound dedication to creating guides and help concerning Nexon Inc.'s MapleStory. I will mainly be:

  • Standardizing structure, spelling, and grammar of Armor, Weapon, and Monster articles
  • Amending biased and misleading information in general MapleStory articles such as stats and leveling

Image file name conventions

Since the infobox templates automatically place images into tables for you, image files should use the same naming conventions assumed by the infobox templates.

When I add items to tables, most of the time it will create broken links for the images just because the file name was off. It creates a lot of extra work adding those image links in manually.

The format should be Item_Name.png

For example, Brown_Guiltian.png instead of Brownguiltian.gif

Another problem that needs to be worked out is the page name being different from the image name, such as in Black Jangoon Pants (M). There is no _(M) suffix in the file name, so even though the rest of the name follows convention, it still results in broken image links. I guess it depends on whether you want to keep gender suffixes in page names or not. I personally can't think of an example where the male and female versions of an item both had the same name.
