Introduction

A guild is essentially an extended buddy list. You can talk, chat, and train together. Also, with a guild, you can participate in the guild quest.

Creating A Guild

To start a guild you need a few things.

  • 1,500,000 Mesos.
  • 6 Members in a Party, making sure the individual purchasing the Guild is the leader.

Once you have the above then you're ready! Head over to the top left of Orbis and enter the portal here. You'll then arrive at the Guild HQ!

Get your party to enter the building and ask them to wait there whilst you talk to Heracle who will set your guild up for you.

First he will take your mesos and then ask you to give your Guild a name.

NOTE: Keep in mind the guild name must be unique to your server and cannot contain special characters, must be under 12 characters, and have no spaces.

And if it meets the requirements, you're done!

You now have a Guild and can now access your Guild stat screen by pressing G unless you changed the key. This will display the following:

  • The current Guild Notice.
  • Listing of the members of the guild.
  • Current level of all members.
  • Current job of all members.
  • Whether the member is online or offline.
  • Their current hierarchy rank.
  • The Guild BBS (Only available in certain versions of Maple Story)

You can also have an emblem for your guild. A guild emblem is a guild with a simple picture beside the guild name. In order to get an emblem, you have to pay 5,000,000 Mesos to Lea, the Guild Emblem NPC in the Orbis Guild HQ.

Hierarchy

Okay, so the hard bit is done, now for the fun stuff.

There are 5 different ranks, all of which are customizable, although 2 of these have slightly different powers.

For example, when you first create a guild you will have the following default rank system:

Master - Has complete power over the guild. He/she can expel members, rename ranks, promote/demote members, create guild messages, create an emblem, delete the guild, and expand the guild. The master cannot quit the guild. The only way for the master to leave the guild is by disbanding it at the Guild HQ for 200,000 Mesos.

Jr. Master - Has some power. He/she can expel members (besides the guild master), promote/demote members of lower rank than himself, and create guild messages.

Member (Three different tiers) - No power.

The Master can rename the ranks to whatever they want to, as long as the name doesn't contain special characters or spaces.

Expanding

So great, everything is going good, but surely 10 members is not enough! You want more right?

You can talk to Heracle in Orbis to expand or break up your guild. Each expansion will increase your total number of allotted
guild members by 5. Here is a price list for expanding your guild in mesos:

1st Expansion: 500,000 (15)
2nd Expansion: 1,500,000 (20)
3rd Expansion: 2,500,000 (25)
4th Expansion: 3,500,000 (30)

Each subsequent expansion after that costs 5,000,000 and you can expand to a maximum of 100 member slots.

Total cost for a fully loaded guild (1,500,000 to start it with 10 slots, an emblem for 5,000,000, 10,000,000 to reach 30 slots, and then another 70,000,000 to max your guild with 100 slots) comes to 86,500,000.

Guild Emblems

The final thing a Guild needs is an Emblem, an emblem not only looks funky but it will create a lot more interest in your guild, hence more players will be willing to join.

To create a guild emblem simply head back to the Guild HQ in Orbis and speak to Lea.

She will ask for 5,000,000 and then show you the Emblem Screen.

There are over 300 combinations and you can edit the icon, background, border, and color.

Once paid for and chosen the emblem will appear under every member's character. You can have as many members in your guild as you wish and still get the guild emblem, as long as you have the mesos you can get the guild emblem.

Guild BBS

The Guild BBS is currently only in Global Maple Story, Taiwan Maple Story and MapleSEA.

The BBS comes with your Guild and is a forum where people can post topics. Each post can be up to 25 Characters long. In Maple Global, posts can be a LOT larger.

Normal members can delete and edit their own posts. Jr. Masters and Masters can edit and delete any post.

You can set an icon on your post, like crying, laughing and sad. There are a couple other buyable icons too from the Cash Shop.

Guild PQ

An addition for Guilds is the Guild Party Quest at Sharenian. You can register your guild and party with them and go through the quest to gain Guild Points and eventually go up the guild ranks too. There is a ranking system in each server and it goes up to 50th place. You can view more information about this on the Sharenian Guild PQ article.

Guild Alliance

(Also known as Union) If you are the leader and you wish to be in alliance you can! First create a party with another guild leader. (Make sure you are not currently in an alliance-both leaders) The master of the party becomes the Alliance leader and the other guild leader will become a Jr Master. Talk to the Manager at the Guild HQ Orbis! Theres your alliance! You can have up to 5 guilds in a alliance.

Extra Notes

  • Members can leave Guilds of their own accord.
  • Any character can only be a member of one Guild.
  • A Guild Master cannot delete his or her own character without first disbanding his or her guild.
  • Disbanding a guild requires 200,000 mesos.
  • In MapleStory Korea and MapleStory Global, the guild capacity limit has been increased to 100 as of V.35 (MapleStory Korea).
  • You can also create a guild alliance with other guilds.

Bugs

  • There was a bug on MapleStory Global causing Guild Leaders being able to increase the guild capacity to 100 for free. This was caused of an incorrect order of function calls and checks in the script file of the Guild Creation NPC. They first changed the amount and then check if the player had enough mesos. Clicking OK on the error screen (which had the screen of "capacity increased" after it (Note: this is not a regular NPC chat window, it is triggered by a different packet.) which has the OK and End Chat buttons.)) made the changes revert, so you get another screen of Heracle saying that the guild capacity has been increased, but with the old amount. If the player pressed the End Chat button instead, the amount didn't decrease and the guild capacity was increased for free! This was fixed a couple days later.
