NOTE: Guide to a Non-Funded Claw Rogue is an incomplete guide. The owner has not returned to the guide in a long time and it is either outdated or not yet complete.

This guide is for people who's first character will be an assassin. It will help with making money and training fast.

Starting Off

Beginning Stats and Equipment

When you create your character your stats will be there and below them are dice. You can roll them as many times as needed, so roll until you have 4 STR and 4 INT. You can have 5 in one of those, but I caution you that it may be the difference of maybe 50 damage later on. Your LUK and DEX can be anything as long as it is not 4. The best top armor is the white undershirt. It provides 1 more defense. For a weapon, use the wooden club. The damage is more unstable than a sword, but can hit one more damage than a sword. The axe just sucks. When you are hitting so low, it doesn't matter.

Your stats should be put into DEX until it is at 25, and then the rest into LUK. Why DEX? Because it increases your damage (very slightly ><), and because you need 25 DEX to change into a rogue. Don't put any into STR to hit higher or HP to increase your health; many beginners do this and have to restart their characters. Also, don't put any into INT or MP, although I don't see why you would in the first place.

Stats

Stats should be put in like this, considering you rolled a 4/4 (INT/STR),

Level 5: 25 DEX, 12 LUK
Level 10: 25 DEX, 37 LUK
Level 15: 35 DEX, 52 LUK

From Victoria:

Once you're a rogue,do this build:

Level 11:+5 Luk
Level 12:+5 Luk
Level 13:+5 Luk
Level 14:+5 Dex
Level 15:+5 Dex

Continue this build for every 5 levels assuming you're unfunded/dexless thief.

Or +2 dex each level and +3 luck each level. The above AP build is recommended (and not this) is because you will maximize damage for the first three levels, while building up DEX to wear your equipment in your last two levels.

Skill Build

Follow this skill build if you are unfunded:

Level 10:+1 Nimble Body
Level 11:+2 Nimble Body, +1 Keen Eyes
Continued later...

Training

Monsters you should train on before you change classes are Snails, Blue Snails, and Shrooms. Nothing else is worth killing, except a few Orange Mushrooms for the 10 Orange Mushroom caps you need for Biggs' quest, which gives either a Razor or a Fruits Knife. It is not suggested to fight orange mushrooms during this time either, just fight them when you need to finish a quest. (E.G. Mai's final quest and Biggs' quest)

Equipment

When you become a Claw Rogue, you obviously use claws. At Kerning City Self-Defense Store, buy a Garnier. Do not buy any other claws until level 25 when you should upgrade your Garnier to a Meba, which should last you until level 40+(requires screws, processed woods, steel plates, 20,000 mesos, and your garnier if you want to forge it in Kerning City - or you can buy it in Ossyria). Try getting the meba to +7 at most. +6 is fine because the weapon attack of an average level 40 claw is 22. By level 40+ you should be getting a lot more money. When you're level 40 and you don't have enough mesos to buy a Dark Avarice, buy an Adamantium Avarice. It saves you money and just has 1 less LUK increase.
[player note: you shouldn't buy Steel Titans at orbis weapon shop when level 15-20]

With regards to armor, it is recommended that you buy every armor for each level, but do not try and buy fancy dark equipment on later levels. If you really do not want to spend mesos, start spending money on armor at about level 20.
