Although the beginner are not equiped with any specials skills, there are still basic, crucial skills such as walking, jumping, sitting, climbing up the ladder, and etc. to be mastered.

Once your character reaches level 8 / 10, you may choose to undertake any of the four job; warrior, magician, bowman, or a thief.
You start MapleStory as a beginner, the form you take when you begin a new character.


The requirements and the places for the job advancement differ from job to job. In MapleStory, 4 job advancements are available for your character.

  1. To become a Bowman, you must be at least Level 10 and have 25 DEX
  2. Go to Victoria Island
  3. Pay 80 mesos to Phil at Lith Harbor to get to Henesys
  4. Go to the Bowman Instructional School, located at Henesys Park.
  5. Talk to Athena Pierce

To Become a Warrior

  1. To become a Warrior, you must be at least Level 10 and have 35 STR
  2. Go to Victoria Island
  3. Pay 120 mesos to Phil at Lith Harbor to get to Perion
  4. Go to the Shrine of Warriors, located near the top-right corner of Perion
  5. Talk to Dances with Balrog

To Become a Pirate

  1. To become a Pirate, you must be at least Level 10 and have 25 DEX
  2. Go to Victoria Island
  3. Pay 100 mesos to Phil at Lith Harbor to get to Nautilus Harbor
  4. Go to the Nautilus's Navigation Room inside the Nautilus; walk to your right, go into a portal with a up sign on top, and walk to the far-left portal and go inside, next to Muirhat.
  5. Talk to Kyrin

To Become a Magician

  1. To become a Magician, you must be at least Level 8 and have 20 INT
  2. Go to Victoria Island
  3. Pay 100 mesos to Phil at Lith Harbor to get to Ellinia
  4. Go to the Magic Library at the very top of Ellinia
  5. Talk to Grendel the Really Old

To Become a Thief

  1. To become a Thief, you must be at least Level 10 and have 25 DEX
  2. Go to Victoria Island
  3. Pay 100 mesos to Phil at Lith Harbor to get to Kerning City
  4. Go to the Thieves' Hideout
  5. Talk to the Dark Lord
