Description

An image of the entire castle.

This is the newest area to be added to the continent of Masteria, confirmed from a question and answer session with a Nexon employee. Little is known of it yet, but it seems to be (as the name suggests) a castle area. It is the second town to be located in the region of Masteria called the Phantom Forest, the first being Haunted House. It is said to be accessed from the left side of New Leaf City. The monster's levels range from 45 to 120. Additionally, there are reports of a powerful boss-type monster plowing through the forest. It is mentioned numerous times in the descriptions of ITCG Trading Card Game items as an important place in the history of the continent. According to this text, it is ruled by Grandmasters, apparently one for each of the four original jobs. Crimsonwood Keep also served as the headquarters of at least three groups of Masterian warriors, those being the Stormcasters, the ranged-fighting Windreavers, and the courageous Bosshunters.

Crimsonwood Keep

The third town of Masteria, having a range of monsters in levels 45-120.

From the MapleStory Nexon forum:

"...we’ve received plenty of reports of a very weird…thing…out there in the forest...tough enough to stomp 160 Heroes, 100 Nightlords, 80 Arch Mages, 190 Paladins, 90 Bowmasters, 110 Marksmen, 50 Shadowers...pretty much everyone we sent after it..."

more to come...

Area

Phantom Forest

A player walking in the Phantom Forest Hunting grounds. The character seems to be being attacked by an evil tree.

Before reaching Crimsonwood Keep, players must pass through the Phantom Forest, which seems to be connected to the existing Phantom Forest maps at Haunted House. The monsters in the forest are the weakest of the expansion, starting at level 45. Not included in this are some monsters which were already released, such as Jr. Wraiths, which can also be found in the forest. The boss monster Bigfoot is said to roam out here, wiping out all challengers. Another known new species found here are the Elder Wraiths. At the edge of the Phantom Forest is the next section, the Crimsonwood Mountains. At least 4 other species of monsters are said to appear here, for a total of six.

Crimsonwood Mountains

A picture of Crimson Guardians at Crimsonwood Keep.

This second area is slightly stronger than the last, sporting only monsters Level 70 and above. Before accessing the rest of the Mountain, players must pass through the Jump Quest-like area called "Valley of Heroes", where the deadly living stone monsters, Menhir, pose a threat to passersby. There are many cave-like areas recessed into the mountain, providing solo dungeons for many players. A final obstacle before reaching the Keep are the strongest monsters here, the Level 120 Crimson Guardians.

Caverns

The Cavern of Fear I. Stormbreaker and Firebrand can be seen at the top of the image.

The map shown on the right, as stated above, is only one of a number of caverns found in the Crimsonwood Mountains. These areas are really solo-able dungeons, supposedly sporting ghostly monsters, such as the ones shown to the right. Each area has a different name, like Cavern of Fear, or Cavern of Pain.

Notes and Facts

Bigfoot sometimes appears on maps of the twisted corridors of phantom forest--Markus102 19:45, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

The Twisted Corridors is where most people get lost in Phantom Forest. Apparently, there are 2 or more maps that are both called Twisted Corridors--Markus102 19:46, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Leprecauns drop Lucky Charms for the quest Fool's Gold.--Markus102 19:49, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Leprecauns give the most mesos in the whole game, minus the bosses if they give mesos at all--Markus102 19:49, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

There is a couple of hidden street maps in phantom forest. One has the Headless Horseman appear in it(The one with Leprecauns). You can tell where the hidden streets are by the "damaged signposts" found on a couple of maps--Markus102 19:49, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Even though the maps appear as a circle on the world map, the portals to all are different--Markus102 19:52, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

There is a portal in the top right corner of Bent tree map that seems impossible to find how to get there. No one i talked to in the game has figured out how to get to it. Maybe it would be possible if a person has a very large percentage of armor on jump.--Markus102 19:52, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

  • I think one of the portals from one of the twisted corridors puts you out there, im pretty sure i was there, but i was confused the whole time i was wondering around there. (Torder 20:07, 22 August 2008 (UTC))
  • If you ever get back up there, tell me how. It looks like there is a hidden street up there.--Markus102 20:14, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

The method for going towards the map valley of heroes from dead mans' gorge is : take the right portal, in twisted corridor 1, take all the way to the right portal, them in Twisted corridor 2, go left to 3 portals and take it. In crossroads, take the left portal. You will arrive on top of the area that leads to crimsonwood keep and valley of heroes--Markus102 19:57, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
