Legend Of Maplestory. Once, the Earth was a place filled with total evil. The Great Balrogs, the ancestors of balrogs were the leaders of creatures who reigned over the world, also called "Beings Of The Dark".However,4 people, known as Grendel,Dark Lord,Dances With Balrog and Athena Pierce created 4 Runes, known as "Runes Of Mage","Runes Of Thieves","Runes Of Warriors" and lastly,"Runes Of Archer",to suppress the evil.Though they were so close to suceeding in restoring peace in the world, the Great Balrogs used the last of their strength and magic to split their powers into millions of forms just before they were sucked in into the 4 Runes. After catching every "Being Of The Dark",the world regained peace......for a moment.

2 weeks after the Evil ended, the world started splitting itself, and the broken parts of the world were soon given the names 'Maple Island','Victoria Island',and ' Ossyria'.Immediately as the world splitted, the Great Balrogs' powers, which were separated, spread out in the form of the Maple Leaf, thus the name " MapleStory".The powers, then starting to gain the ability to 'think',soon took the form of the monsters. The first powers started off as the Crimson Balrogs and Jr.Balrogs,as the descendants of the Great Balrogs. And after thus,Bains,Cellions,Lucida,Slimes, and all the monsters of MapleStory started appearing.Seeing that they were greatly outnumbered,Grendel,Dark Lord,Dances With Balrog and Athena Pierce decided to inherit the powers of the 4 Runes and each decided to train all worthy people to inherit a small part of each Rune's Power.Grendel, inheriting the "Rune Of Mage" decided to train and raise Magicians.Dark Lord, inheriting the "Runes Of Thieves",decided to oversee the training of Thieves.Dances With Balrog, who inherited the "Runes Of Warriors",chose to raise Warriors. And Athena Pierce, inheriting the "Runes Of Archers",chosen the path of training Bowmans.

Thus,MapleStory was born and the Job Advancement Instructors took on their roles since.
