Talk:Nimble Body

From MapleWiki

Question

Why does everybody think this skill is so great? It seems like it would become practically useless later on, as opposed to Disorder or Dark Sight, both of which seem like much better alternatives. If there's something I don't realize about this skill, please let me know - I'm confused why EVERY guide for Rogues recommends this seemingly awful skill!

Please respond if you have any clue at all. -Cofeetup

-Nimble Body is a very useful skill because it gains you high avoidibility(to dodge monsters) and high accuracy(VERY important to dexless, unlike dark sight you can attack and nimble body is passive(meaning that it is on all the time]. Diaorder is NOT useful bbecause there is no point.--Puppyswan 15:29, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

A Rogue would gain more than three points of avoidability at every level. With growth like that, an extra twenty would mean very little in the long run, although it does seem like Nimble Body would be useful just after it is gained. As for accuracy, putting five points per level into Luck (minimum accuracy rogue build) would give you 2.5 accuracy at each level. Also remember that you start with four Luck (+2 accuracy) and Rogues start out with 25 Dex (+20 accuracy), meaning that at level 10 you would have 47.5 accuracy, which is certainly enough to hit anything you should train on, and this is a hypothetical dexless build. The supplemental 2.5 accuracy per level after that is, again, certainly enough to hit anything you should train on. The only problem you might have is with King Slime. This leads me back to the comment that Nimble Body is very useful when it is gained, but it seems like it would become useless (or nearly useless) later on, especially when compared with Dark Sight. Dark Sight has the advantage of completely preventing being pinned against a wall by a boss, allowing you to escape from tight situations (for example, accidentally dropping into Sleepywood at level fifteen), and increasing travel speed by allowing you to walk right through enemies that would ordinarily knock you back and slow you down (another way to circumvent this is by jumping over them, but you can't always jump over enemies and even jumping slows you down a little bit). Nimble Body also doesn't seem to be very useful in comparison to Disorder. I know that Disorder decreases the weapon attack and weapon defense of an enemy by as much as Threaten (a Page skill that is considered very useful). Although it has half the duration, it has half the MP cost, which means it costs just as much MP over time. To me, this SOUNDS like a very nice skill, but I don't know if it works on bosses or how high the range is. The description claims that enemies affected will stop attacking, which makes it sound even better. Again, I don't know if it is good or not, so I can't say if it is better than Nimble Body, but it certainly sounds as though it is. Dark Sight REALLY sounds as though it is better than Nimble Body. I have played as a dexless Rogue until level twenty, and it seemed as though the accuracy was plentiful and would only get higher. I did not face off against King Slime, but I felt that at level 25 any dexless Rogue would have quite enough accuracy, as I played as a Warrior and didn't have much of a problem at a level slightly higher (without any accuracy boosters and following the normal Dex = level x 2 build). Also, the extra twenty avoidability would be a small bonus for a Rogue that is, say, level fifty. I have realized that this is a very useful skill for a first job Rogue. The other skills, however, have given me the impression that they would be more useful past level thirty. If this is not the case, please let me know. I realize that the conclusion that this skill is not as good as other options later on is not such a difficult conclusion to reach. That is why I ask this question: why does every guide for Rogues recommend maxing this skill? You would think that SOME guides would suggest that this skill is not worth it because it becomes obsolete. It is really perplexing to me! I encourage anyone who can shed some light on this matter to do so. -Cofeetup
