== Infobox Complete. (Almost) ==

The Skill Infobox is done, after many days of work and editing. But I have one issue. How can I add an image in the case that a certain image isnt available. For example, An Infobox would have an icon for Three Snails because it has a Three Snails.png file. But how can I get icons that doesnt have that name on it?
==Broken Links==

: What I do for icons that possibly will not follow <nowiki>{{PAGENAME}}.png</nowiki> format is add an image Parser Function. What this basically entails is:
I'm going to be listing here all the pages I've editted so you can do your thing with hiding the categories and broken links since I've seen you fixing them, okay? If you'd rather I do it, all you have to do is instruct me on how to. Feel free to erase these as you fix them if it helps you keep organized! --[[User:Arch3ops|Arch3ops]] ([[User talk:Arch3ops|talk]]) 21:13, 24 July 2012 (CDT)

===Monsters with Categories That Need to Be Hidden===

: This way, the default is <nowiki>File:{{PAGENAME}}.png</nowiki>, while allowing users to add a specific file name if it's not named in that format. You can also get more detailed in this by adding alternative text with it and make it very complicated (as is evident if you look at the source code for the item infobox), but that is entirely your choice.<BR>~&nbsp;&nbsp;[[User:Kitten Tale|Kitten Tale]] 17:46, 17 September 2011 (CDT)

===Pictures with Broken Links===

The infobox is fully done, but now I'd like another piece of help. I plan to add an automatic category adder for the Job section, similar to the Item Infobox. What would be a nice Parser Function?

: Personally, I would use a <pre>{{#switch:</pre> function, as this allows one to give many options from one field. This usually requires some input field prior to the switch function, but since Job is a variable, you can use that. To see a full example, you can take a look at the item infobox's code, towards the bottom (that's where all the categorization happens). Ok, I got that done, almost and added one. Now I added the catergories, now how to make sure it does the job?
==Your Suggestion==
Well, as per your request, I have updated the [[Alchemy]] page with a full list of items that can be crafted, though it's a feast of broken links. I could work on creating the pages, but it'd be great if you could create a table so we can put the items by level to possibly make it easier for people to comprehend. Also, I'll see what I can do about the other professions!

: Wonderful! I will probably sort them the same way as the [[Smithing]] stuff. Thank you much for the help! [[User:Kitten Tale|Kitten Tale]] ([[User talk:Kitten Tale|talk]]) 23:32, 24 July 2012 (CDT)

::: The way automatic categorization works is that when certain values are in place, the code automatically takes effect immediately afterwards. You don't have to babysit it or anything; it does everything for you. [[User:Kitten Tale|Kitten Tale]] 01:05, 19 September 2011 (CDT)
You're very welcome! I started to do some work on the [[Smithing]] pages as well, I figured how to work the tables you had previously used, so all of the format's the same. I'll finish adding up other craftables tomorrow, but I'd like to highlight the fact that are a lot of missing pages for the (I'm assuming new, since I've never heard of them in my whole Maple lifetime) Walker stuff for level 70, Abyss, Fearless, and Von Leon stuff for level 125 and Imperial stuff for level 130, so I'm sure we could work on those, too!

Ok, this is what I have. It's quite long. Now I need to know where to add the top part.
:: The problem is lack of editors, and lack of experienced players. We can't give good tips or good advice on some of these pages because we haven't been that far ourselves. [[User:Kitten Tale|Kitten Tale]] ([[User talk:Kitten Tale|talk]]) 00:21, 25 July 2012 (CDT)

That is indeed a very good point. Something that we could take advantage of is the fact that if you move your mouse to the picture of, say, an overall in the crafting window, it does show you all stats, upgrade slots, and sometimes, even set effects. Once I finish adding them to the list, I'll work on splitting my time into both creating pages for the missing equipments and other items and on updating monster drops according to their Monster Cards. If you have any other suggestions, you're more than welcome to write at my talk page any day. (:

Do you know how I can add the collapse thing on large templates like the Maple Equipment template? [[User:ToaArrol|ToaArrol]] ([[User talk:ToaArrol|talk]]) 23:56, 25 July 2012 (CDT)

Ok, I used it, but now I see "Job | 3rd Job Demon Slayer }}" on the bottom on the skill lists.

:::::: I will take a look at it tomorrow. I'll leave any comments regarding it in its respective talk page. Just a heads up though - what it appears like in the template page will be different than when you implement it. See [[Template:Item infobox|this]] and [[Template:Monster infobox|this]] for examples. [[User:Kitten Tale|Kitten Tale]] 02:03, 19 September 2011 (CDT)
: You would probably have to convert your HTML into wiki syntax for it to work. It might work with HTML, but I'm not sure. In either case, you would have to add that class to the header line of each section. You could make it suggest categories, but that involves Parser functions and Variables (I don't think we have Extension:Variables on MapleWiki).

Great, I got the automatic categories to work, but I still have those slight issues. ~[[ToaArrol]]
: On a side note, I've been browsing MediaWiki for a particular extension that might make editing easier for the pages we have now. Essentially, I'm looking for a way to validate pages so we know they're up-to-date.
: I think I might have found one [http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:FlaggedRevs here]. Think Stephan will go for it? [[User:Kitten Tale|Kitten Tale]] ([[User talk:Kitten Tale|talk]]) 00:22, 26 July 2012 (CDT)

== Here's what I got ==

Ok, I decided to look at the Item Infobox and decided to create this.
:: See [http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Variables here] for the Variables extension needed for effective collapsible templates. ==Possible creation of a template==

I'm still trying to work on automatic job catergories for the Skill Infobox. ~[[ToaArrol]]
I've been adding some templates around as per your suggestion, but there's no template for event items that are no longer dropped. Which template should I use then? Simply the retired one? I've thought of doing that, but it might be a good idea to highlight it's a retired EVENT item.
--[[User:Arch3ops|Arch3ops]] ([[User talk:Arch3ops|talk]]) 13:18, 26 July 2012 (CDT)

: I don't think a template for retired event items is necessary. I think it should be generally assumed that if the item is obtained from an event, it cannot be re-obtained unless otherwise noted. I would make sure that when you find retired event items, you emphasize when it was given out (ie: Available from the 2012 event). <span style="font-size:14px; text-decoration:overline;font-variant:small-caps;">[[User:Kitten Tale|Kitten]]</span> &nbsp; (<span style="text-decoration:overline;font-variant:small-caps; font-size:12px;">[[User talk:Kitten Tale|talk]]</span> 17:53, 26 July 2012 (CDT)

::: That specific line of code only lists off jobs. It doesn't do any categorizing. [[User:Kitten Tale|Kitten Tale]] 11:30, 21 September 2011 (CDT)
I'm sure we could do that from now onwards, but there's a number of event items that I have no idea of when they came out.

==Multiple job equipment==
: If you want to do some research, I would recommend checking other major Maple sites for more information. Back when I did work for Guild Wars Wiki, I ended up working on a Skill History project, and my main tool was researching what skills were before certain updates.
Theres one slight fault with the infoboxes regarding equipment. Some equipment such as the [[Eloon]] and the [[Machete]] (1 handed swords) belong to two jobs: Thief and Warrior. Have you added multiple classes into the infobox?

[[User:Kennytran4|Kennytran4]] 04:38, 30 September 2011 (CDT)
: If you decide to research, I would recommend finding out when posts about the item started showing up (if referencing a forum), and then searching Nexon's MapleStory News Updates. Sometimes you can even find quality images to use on the wiki by looking through their archives. <span style="font-size:14px; text-decoration:overline;font-variant:small-caps;">[[User:Kitten Tale|Kitten]]</span> &nbsp; (<span style="text-decoration:overline;font-variant:small-caps; font-size:12px;">[[User talk:Kitten Tale|talk]]</span> 18:03, 26 July 2012 (CDT)

PS: COuld you also overhaul/remake/make template pages for Template:Thief weapons, Template:Warrior weapons etc. etc.
.... that's too much work and too time-consuming, there's quite a number of other things to update, too. xD
--[[User:Arch3ops|Arch3ops]] ([[User talk:Arch3ops|talk]]) 19:48, 26 July 2012 (CDT)

:: Yes, there are ways to add multiple classes; just add | class2, etc. and it should work. I believe it should support upwards of 3 or 4 different classes. (More than that is just common).
==Drop Table infobox==

:: As for the templates, I'd rather not, because it will be much easier when all pages are tagged in the infobox system (as I would have the full list in front of me). Possibly in the future, sure. [[User:Kitten Tale|Kitten Tale]] 11:29, 30 September 2011 (CDT)
It has come to my attention that the Drop Table infobox doesn't have a column for scrolls. I do think it's necessary to add one, as many bosses drop a great variety of them. Also, the ores column is quite redundant now, as monsters don't drop them anymore.
--[[User:Arch3ops|Arch3ops]] ([[User talk:Arch3ops|talk]]) 15:06, 27 July 2012 (CDT)

:::Thanks for that, I didn't know that, (I should look at the infobox page more thoroughly next time!) however Durability needs to be edited into the weapons section of infoboxes. [[User:Kennytran4|Kennytran4]] 03:41, 1 October 2011 (CDT)
: Monsters can still drop ore, so it's still a valid area.
==Quests==
When you make Quest pages could you put all the parts of a quest into one uniform page? Like this: [[The Chaos Behind Alfonse Green And The Nependeath Juice]] [[User:Kennytran4|Kennytran4]] 17:01, 2 October 2011 (CDT)

: When I make quest pages, I upload all relevant information. The quest infobox I made needs to be revised, so until I can find a time to revise it, it's going to be raw information. Also, I don't like that format at all; it's one giant indistinguishable list. I personally think all quests should be kept on their own pages, while keeping long lists like that to the minimum. [[User:Kitten Tale|Kitten Tale]] 17:15, 2 October 2011 (CDT)
: As for scrolls, they're broken down by type. Equipment scrolls have their own section, and non-equipment scrolls have another. <span style="font-size:14px; text-decoration:overline;font-variant:small-caps;">[[User:Kitten Tale|Kitten]]</span> &nbsp; (<span style="text-decoration:overline;font-variant:small-caps; font-size:12px;">[[User talk:Kitten Tale|talk]]</span> 16:25, 27 July 2012 (CDT)

:: Alright then, however I think its annoying having to click through pages for one quest. Could you add more fields to enter information in for the use/etc infoboxes? I compiled a list here: http://www.maplewiki.net/index.php?title=MapleWiki:Project_Infoboxes#Use [[User:Kennytran4|Kennytran4]] 18:16, 2 October 2011 (CDT)
Ah, that explains it. o: But well, since very few of them do, it makes sense to add it as an etc. drop.
--[[User:Arch3ops|Arch3ops]] ([[User talk:Arch3ops|talk]]) 18:37, 27 July 2012 (CDT)

::: Potion, Food, and Quest item options are already available. Adding in Skill Books, Treasures, Games, and Pet Food. I'm questioning Transformations, Codex, Others, Obsolete and Monster drops however. The first three you might have to ellaborate on. Monster drops obvious when in the Obtained section, there are monsters listed. Not sure why Obsolete is listed; items are moved to the Item Graveyard once they're removed from the game. Otherwise, you can use the Event option to mark things that were/are only available during that event. [[User:Kitten Tale|Kitten Tale]] 18:39, 2 October 2011 (CDT)
: I think a fair number of them still do. We can't really know unless all of our monsters have been added with drop tables. <span style="font-size:14px; text-decoration:overline;font-variant:small-caps;">[[User:Kitten Tale|Kitten]]</span> &nbsp; (<span style="text-decoration:overline;font-variant:small-caps; font-size:12px;">[[User talk:Kitten Tale|talk]]</span> 19:05, 27 July 2012 (CDT)

::: EDIT: Upon further review, Monster drops are already an option and have their own category. [[User:Kitten Tale|Kitten Tale]] 18:42, 2 October 2011 (CDT)
I'll work on that. (: But still, I'm yet to kill a monster on GMS that drops ores post-Big Bang.
--[[User:Arch3ops|Arch3ops]] ([[User talk:Arch3ops|talk]]) 11:01, 28 July 2012 (CDT)

::::Obsolete are useless items in the game for example - stimulators or forging manuals. Others are for things such as tickets, passes and other things that don't fit. Transformations are the useable items used to transform into something else ([[Rainbow Colored Snail Shell]] for instance) and the Codex might be useful as monsters drop Crusader Codex Cards. [[User:Kennytran4|Kennytran4]] 23:00, 2 October 2011 (CDT)
I think the possible addition of a recipe section might work for the drop list.... Look how messy this looks: [[Zakum]] --[[User:Arch3ops|Arch3ops]] ([[User talk:Arch3ops|talk]]) 00:15, 4 August 2012 (CDT)
::::Upon further inspection of the Rainbow Shell page I found this: http://www.maplewiki.net/index.php?title=Category:Transforming_Potions . This should be one of the automatic categories. Also, Mounts need to be included in the equipment section.

You're definitely free to make pages on Nebulite. Don't worry about infoboxes on them, because we will most likely have to add that into the infobox at some point.

:: This was the original format of how drops were managed. However, there are some problems:
: My preferred way is creating redirects. This allows one image to be used on multiple pages, where many items may share the same icon.

: To make redirects:
:: 1) It's wiki-unfriendly to new users. (However, my template could be considered that also, if they have no experience with templates.)
: * Do not click on the broken file links. This will send you straight to the upload screen.
:: 2) You're required to copy and paste it. With [[Template:Drop Table infobox]], people could implement it without having to copy and paste.
: * Instead, copy the whole file name (File:Name.extension) and place it right after "title=" in the URL.
:: 3) It's easy to break. Delete a couple characters and you have a mess.
: * Now you will have an uncreated page that gives you an option to edit or upload.
:: 4) It eats up a lot of space on the page. Using drop tables formatted like that could easily consume more than half of the page.
: * Edit the page and add the following line "<nowiki>#REDIRECT [[File:Name.extension]]</nowiki>"
:: 5) You must know what the file name is. The Drop Table infobox allows automatic file naming and choosing for png images. In either case, this is an issue for both formats, and thus File redirects are required to make full use of it.
:: 6) No category support. Every time the template is included, a ton of categories are created. See [[:Category:Thief Equipment Drops]] for an example.

:: However, it is a good general format for drop tables. I believe this is what the original style of my template used before we broke down categories to clearly show what kinds of things a particular monster drops (be it scrolls, trophies, etc).

:: Before you use more wide-spread implementation of your drop table, please consider the points above and give me a final answer. I'm not trying to bully your ideas or anything - I greatly encourage new ways to do things (especially when trying to figure out how to show relevant information without cluttering pages). However, the template I use for drops is HUGE; a lot of things are taken into account, and more are still being added periodically.

:: That also being said, if you do end up deciding to use my template, I greatly appreciate feedback on how to make it more user-friendly. I can also share my plans on infoboxes and why I want them on every applicable page. [[User:Kitten Tale|Kitten Tale]] ([[User talk:Kitten Tale|talk]]) 18:43, 24 July 2012 (CDT)

Well, I haven't gotten to the high-leveled monsters yet, where I was planning on adding a separate column for recipes and scrolls according to the amount of drops they use. Despite the fact that they are somewhat complicated, I do find the template I use to be very aesthetically pleasant to the eye.  I know having to find the image file names is a hassle, but I have no problems with doing so. Also, I've seen you create those hidden categories, but I'm not sure what the point of them are when the item page itself should have which monsters drop the item. The thing about your template is that I have no idea of how to use it, but I've had experience with the one I use, but if you'd like, I could surely try to figure out yours and use it instead!

::: My original plan was to add the template to every page, then look to see where all the links are coming from in [[Special:WhatLinksHere]]. But with hidden categories, a list can basically be maintained automatically. If another extension was added to the wiki, this list could be listed on all item pages and always be up-to-date. (The flaw in this automatic listing is that there isn't much room for additional comments such as level of monster.)
It does, thank you very much. :) --[[User:Arch3ops|Arch3ops]] ([[User talk:Arch3ops|talk]]) 12:29, 6 August 2012 (CDT)

::: If you'd like to give it a shot, you can go to [[Template:Drop Table infobox]] and copy and paste the code provided. The syntax is very easy to remember: for every new entry, hit the enter key, and start off the row with "|" (the vertical line/pipe key). After that, add a space and write what it is, followed by the equal sign and the name.

::: For example:
Ahh, it's nice to see you around here, again. [[User:ToaArrol|ToaArrol]] ([[User talk:ToaArrol|talk]]) 19:39, 11 October 2012 (CDT)
<pre>
{{Drop Table infobox
| warrior = Spear
}}
</pre>

::: This lists the warrior equipment [[Spear]].
: Thanks! I'm currently on a short break from school, so I won't have a lot to contribute. Plus, I haven't even looked at MapleStory since I left. <span style="font-size:14px; text-decoration:overline;font-variant:small-caps;">[[User:Kitten Tale|Kitten]]</span> &nbsp; (<span style="text-decoration:overline;font-variant:small-caps; font-size:12px;">[[User talk:Kitten Tale|talk]]</span> 19:45, 11 October 2012 (CDT)

::: You can list multiple entries for a type by adding a number directly after.

<pre>
{{Drop Table infobox
| warrior = Spear
| warrior2 = Pole Arm
}}
</pre>

::: This pattern continues up to 10 for all class equipment. The one change is that Common equipment is listed as all.
Welcome back! I've been away for a while, too, working on my first update in a while right now. :) I hate to bother, but whenever you have time, could you increase the limits of scrolls that can be inputted in the Drop Table infobox? And maybe a section just for Recipes by their categories instead of just a huge list (i.e.[[Cygnus (Boss)]]) for better aesthetics and greater ease of access. Thanks!--[[User:Arch3ops|Arch3ops]] ([[User talk:Arch3ops|talk]]) 18:00, 14 October 2012 (CDT)

<pre>
{{Drop Table infobox
| all =
| all2 =
}}
</pre>

::: Otherwise, the pattern is consistent with use, etc, mesos, manual, ore, recipe, weaponscroll, accessoryscroll, and so on. Chances are, even if you guess, you'll probably find the right word to use. Some types have higher limits (numbers that can be placed directly after), which means there should be few issues with it.

::: If you would like a more in-depth explanation, let me know. :) [[User:Kitten Tale|Kitten Tale]] ([[User talk:Kitten Tale|talk]]) 20:10, 24 July 2012 (CDT)

==Broken Links==

==Your Suggestion==
