Potential
Introduction
A system was introduced to Global Maplestory in the summer of 2010 (in KMS, the spring thereof) that allows people to give weapons and armor uncommon stats without using upgrade slots. Dropped equipment has a chance to have a "hidden potential" which must be revealed to the holder using a Magnifying Glass item sold at relatively high prices in potion shops.
Scrolls are available to give non-potential items their own potential. They come with 70% or 90% chances of success--if they fail, the item is guaranteed to be destroyed. To reset an item, Miracle Cubes bought from the Cash Shop must be used. Using five consecutive cubes will earn the user a 70% Potential scroll--or if they're willing to wait, 10 uses will earn an advanced one.
Three specific stat bonuses can be added to items at most. Using a Miracle Cube will not cause an item to decrease in the number of stats or decrease in rank (see below), but it may result in more or less desirable traits.
Items with potentials can go on three tiers: Rare, Epic, or Unique, in order from least to greatest. The chance of achieving an Epic or Unique set of stats at any time is extremely low, but having a stat set with three lines increases the chance by 30% at all levels.
Available stat bonuses
All items can be given the following stats (list to be updated in time):
Any stat +X (STR/DEX/INT/LUK can receive a random increase) All stats +X (All of the above receive an increase) Avoid or Accuracy +X
