The guide on this page was created for an older and outdated version of Maplestory and is now inaccurate to the current gameplay and no longer deemed useful. Please do not edit or delete this article.

Intro

If you are reading this, I assume that you already chose to be a Claw Thief, and later Assasin, Hermit, then Nightlord.

Getting Started

NOTE: This guide contains a dice roll section for AP points. We would like to inform you that dice roll function is not used anymore in GMS and MapleSEA. If you are a beginner, there is no need as all points are assigned to STR. When you get your job advancement, click A and then click on auto-assign points. Please avoid that section and everytime you level up, press 'a' and press auto-assign. You may continue that system or if you are looking to use a special point build eg. dexless assassin, then you may do so.

When you roll your stats, the preffered stats would be:

STR: 4

DEX: Anything

LUK: Anything (preferably high)

INT: 4

Rolling the two fours may take some time. However, if you are impatient, you can settle with a (4,5),(5,4), or (5,5). You may be wondering why STR and INT are supposed to be 4. It is because Claw Thiefs and Thiefs in general (except for STR Bandit where you need STR) do not need STR and INT.

Ability Point and Skill Point Allocation

AP

Everytime you level up, you will get 5 AP (ability points) and 3 SP (one skill point from level 1-6). You will need to know where to put your points. For AP, you should get 25 DEX then put the rest into LUK for levels 1-10. Then have DEX 2x your level and the rest of the points into LUK.

Here is an example of the Ability Point Allocation.

Level 1: 8 DEX, 9 LUK

Level 2: 13 DEX, 9 LUK

Level 3: 18 Dex, 9 LUK

Level 4: 23 DEX, 9 LUK

Level 5: 25 DEX, 12 LUK

(now all in LUK)

Level 6: 25 DEX, 17 LUK

Level 7: 25 DEX, 22 LUK

Level 8: 25 DEX, 27 LUK

Level 9: 25 DEX, 32 LUK

Level 10: 25 DEX, 32 LUK

Level 11: 25 DEX, 37 LUK

Level 12: 25 DEX, 42 LUK

(do DEX=2x your level now)

Level 13: 26 DEX, 46 LUK

Level 14: 28 DEX, 49 LUK

(continue that until level 40 where you do 1 DEX, 4 LUK)

SP

When you are a beginner, I recommend Recovery and Three Snails because later, Nimble Feet will become useless because you will get Haste.

When you are a Thief, you can follow my skill point guide here.
