About myself

Hi, I'm JezzaRules and this guide is the ultimate guide into becoming a successful cleric either partywise or solowise. I'm mainly focusing on solo clerics but party clerics can use this as a reference. I’m a Broa Player who owns a level 8x priest.

This is my first guide I wrote so don’t judge it too harshy and be too dependable on it. Though this guide covers the 4th job guides, I don't know much about it (I never had a bishop before!) but I still know my stuff and I hope you find this guide useful.

Sorry if this guide is a bit messy and hard to read, I'll fix things up in the meantime.

Introduction

Why be a Cleric? Well Clerics are magicians that can heal or buff their party members to bolster their defense and their risks of dying. Yes, most people think their slaves right? Well you’re wrong. This guide will tell you how to become a Solo Cleric so if you’re a party cleric, I wouldn’t rely on this guide too much coz in this guide, you’ll be focused more in attacking rather than slaving off healing and buffing for your party members.

Maple Island (Premagician)

Ok to begin with a magician, your AP stats should be this: Str: 4 Dex: 4 Int: (ANY) Luk: (ANY) Your Strength and Dexterity levels should be as low as possible, you want a good cleric right? Your minimum int must be 20 before becoming a magician. As for the luck,it should be 3 levels higher than your current level. When you progress through Maple Island, keep putting your AP on int. As a pre-magician, training in maple island has often been harsh, your damage is VERY low and you have a fair chance of missing an orange mushroom. As for your first 6 Skill Points, max Snail Shell Throw! You’ll be needing it so badly! Forget the skill Recovery as you will be using Heal later on and besides, you have the chair to heal as a pre-cleric so spend your last 3 points on Nimble Feet instead.

Levels 1-8

Training: At this point, you should be doing all the quests there except Biggs quest since you have to collect 10 orange caps. You may do this quest if you have a warrior or bowman islander who is willing to hunt the orange caps for you and drop trading them.

Hopefully by that time, you should’ve reached at least level 6.

Equips: Do Marias quest and hope for a skullcap because they give the most def out of all the hats she gives. As for the rest of the armors, leave it as it is for now.

1st Job Advancement

Now that you left Maple Island, prepare some money for your equips. If you have a Stars and Stripes flag or a Chief Axe from an event quest, give it to your magician for now. You’ll be needing the damage before becoming an actual Magician. Ok now once you’re level 8, go to Grendel and start your job advancement. You should put your first skill on Energy Bolt, otherwise have fun hitting snails =3.

1st Job Advancement Skills

You MUST max Max MP first (not MP recovery) if you want high mp. Then max MP recovery since this can save you a fair bit of mp pots. Then max your attacking skills.

This is the build most players have by the time they reached level 30:

Energy Bolt ---- (1) ---- 0 Skill points remaining

Mp Recovery ---- (5) ---- 1 Skill point remaining

Max Mp ---- (MAXED) ---- 0 Skill points remaining

Mp Recovery ---- (MAXED) ---- 1 Skill point remaining

Magic Claw ---- (MAXED) ---- 2 Skill points remaining

Magic Guard ---- (MAXED) ---- 0 Skill points remaining

1st Job Training Spots

Level 8-10

Training: At this rate, go snails for now, some magicians with a lot of pots might want to consider slimes though they are a bit hard at this point.

Equips: Don’t bother waste your money on the magician top and bottom, they have a horrific amount of weapon def and you won’t be facing monsters with magic attacks at this point. At level 10, wear a white bandana, the apprentice hats weapon def is horrible.

Level 11-20

Training: You might want to consider Henesys PQ which gives you a high amount of exp and money if you choose to do the bonus stage. Plus you have a fair chance of finding a circle winded staff which you need for level 30 or a golden pride which is the sweet level 30 hat that gives 3 int. If you’re not a party quest type of person, you should start taking down slimes which is great between levels 10-18. At level 18, you might want to start on horny mushrooms, their exp is great until level 25.

Equips: As for your equips, get the level 11 top and grab a wooden staff. The level 13 robe for guys has a bad amount of weapon def but the girls Arianne skirt and top should be okay. At level 15, don’t bother with the cone hat, instead get a metal gear. The level 16 jeans are also recommended. At level 18, split pieces will be the main equip you’ll be wearing until level 28. At level 20, the level 20 hats is horrible and not worth getting at all, even the level 15 hat gives better defence in terms of weapon def.

Level 21-30

Training: At this point, you should start Kerning PQ. If you’re under level 24 you’re gonna miss Ligators in stage 1 40% of the time but don’t worry too much about it, lets hope that your party members will aid you. In some versions with the Nihal Desert Region, in other words Ariant, you should try the Ariant Colosseum, its great exp. Horny Mushrooms are still ripe with exp until level 25, blue mushrooms are also good though they’re not as good as horny mushrooms. At level 25, start training in Ant Tunnel against Zombie Mushrooms and Horny Mushrooms. Alternatively for you GMS players if you’re rich, boomers in NLC are a good option too.

Equips: The Doros robe is pathetic and your level 18 Split piece is better. For level 26, boys might want to wear camouflage pants and as for girls, none for you sorry. You should start wearing your main armour at level 28+.

2nd Job Advancement

Ok now that you’ve made it to level 30, go talk to Grendel who will send you over to the magician job instructor who is located at the Forest north of Ellinia. He’ll teleport you into a map where you’ll be required to hunt 30 dark marbles in order to retrieve a Proof of the Hero. Give this to Grendel and he’ll advance you to either a F/P wiz, I/L wiz or a Cleric. This is a Cleric guide right? So choose cleric and put up your first skill.

Ah yes, which skill you ask? Some people like to put on Teleport, Mp Eater or Heal as their first skill. Most will go for Teleport or MP Eater since Heal wouldn’t heal much of your hp.

As a Solo Cleric, its optional and will not affect any changes however Heal must be maxed before you max any other skill and Holy Arrow MUST be maxed early, preferably after maxing heal if you want fast training especially between levels 40-70.

Skills

Mp Eater

MP Eater.gif What it does: Gives you a 45% chance at max to absorb some of the monsters mp in your attack

My Opinion: This sweet skill is a huge moneysaver, definitely max this if you don’t have a huge supply of MP Pots.

Teleport

Teleport.gif What it does: Teleport a short distance.

My Opinion: This skill is very useful for telecasting and escaping but it’s not worth maxing however. At max level, teleporting distance slightly increases and mana usage decreases thus saves more mana pots for traveling or telecasting. I recommend putting 1 skill point on this skill ASAP.

Heal

Heal.gif What it does: Heals you and your party members. Can damage undead monsters.

My Opinion: This is the main reason why you are a cleric and the main reason why most maplers grab you into parties. Heal is by far the most useful skill in the Clerics skillbook. MAX THIS FIRST AT ALL COSTS!!!

Invincible

Invincible.gif What it does: Reduces monsters non magic damage at a certain percentage.

My Opinion: A very useful skill that can pretty much save your life and pots. Unfortunately it doesn’t apply to your party members but nonetheless still useful. Max this after you max bless or MP Eater.

Bless

Bless.gif What it does: Gives a bonus of 20 weapon defense, magic defense accuracy and avoidability to you and your party members at max.

My Opinion: Like invincibility, bless is very useful and its one of the few skills in the Clerics skillbook that makes you wanted in parties. Max this after you maxed heal if you’re a party cleric but don’t forget this is a solo cleric guide so I’d max it after Holy Arrow.

Holy Arrow

Holy Arrow Skill.gif What it does: Fires a holy arrow that has 80 magic attack (same as magic claw put together) and deals extra damage to undead and demon monsters.

My Opinion: This is the main reason why you’re a solo offensive cleric, this bad boy deals sweet damage and to my opinion appeals more than Magic Claw. Why? If used correctly and accurately this will be one of the most useful skills till 4th job advancement (which angel ray replaces it). Max this if you want the path of a solo cleric. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT believe most other guides about saying holy arrow is useless and level 1 shining ray replaces it.

Firstly, Holy Arrow is a basic missile whereas Shining Ray is an AoE skill thus the two are incomparable.

Secondly, how are you supposed to attack without Holy Arrow? Magic Claw is unreliable to my opinion as it can't Knockback most strong monsters for nuts. Heal is unreliable in offense and deals unpredictable damage to undead monsters.

Lastly of all those nub clerics writing guides, WHO SAID LEVEL 1 SHINING RAY REPLACES MAXED HOLY ARROW!?? Seriously, they should get their facts right, level 11 shining ray does deal more damage than maxed holy arrow not level 1.

Personally, I do believe some people are discouraging others from maxing Holy Arrow. But it's really your choice, not mine. I'm just saying Holy Arrow is better than you think.

Skill Builds

This is the build you should have as a solo cleric:

Teleport (1) Level 30

Heal (MAXED) Level 40 0 Skill points remaining

MP Eater (At Least 1)

Holy Arrow (MAXED)

Optional Skills

This is the skill build I used:

Teleport (1) Level 30

Heal (MAXED) Level 40 0 Skill points remaining

MP Eater (5) Level 42 1 Skill points remaining

Holy Arrow (MAXED) Level 52 1 Skill points remaining

Invincibility (5) Level 54 2 Skill points remaining

Bless (MAXED) Level 60 0 Skill points remaining

MP Eater (MAXED) Level 65 0 Skill points remaining

Invincibility (MAXED) Level 70 0 Skill points remaining

Or you can use this build:

Teleport (1) Level 30

Heal (MAXED) Level 40 0 Skill points remaining

MP Eater (5) Level 42 1 Skill points remaining

Holy Arrow (MAXED) Level 52 1 Skill points remaining

Invincibility (5) Level 54 2 Skill points remaining

Bless (MAXED) Level 60 0 Skill points remaining

Invincibility (MAXED) Level 65 0 Skill points remaining

Teleport (16) Level 70 0 Skill points remaining

The build I chose maxed every skill except Teleport. Maxed teleport compared to normal teleport uses less mp and the distance slightly increases whilst MP Eater is a moneysaver ability. The reason I didn’t choose teleport is because I can’t telecast for nuts (=.=) and I believed I need MP Eater more than Teleport.

2nd Job Training Spots

Levels 31-34

Since your Heal is still quite weak, train in Ant Tunnel for now. Zombie Mushrooms are the only Healable monsters you can kill at this point. For money, you might want to resume Henesys PQ since its exp is almost as much as Kerning PQ. In some versions, Monster Carnival is a better option than Kerning or Henesys PQ though you're party will most likely lose.

RECOMMENDED TRAINING SPOTS: Zombie Mushrooms

Levels 35-40

By that level, you can start Ludibrium PQ as it is great exp until around level 48. Personally I dislike Ludibrium PQ since it takes ages to get in and takes quite long to complete. Monster Carnival is also great too. With your slightly stronger heal, start taking down Jr Wraiths, Chronos are still a bit strong for you at the moment so don’t go there until around level 40.

RECOMMENDED TRAINING SPOTS: Jr Wraiths

Levels 40-45

Continue Ludibrium PQ or Monster Carnival, nothing much to say. If you’re a party pooper however start grinding off the Jr Chronos. Jr Wraiths are still good until around level 42. You might want to try zombie lupin too at level 45. Another option would be the Paper Lantern Ghosts in Zipangu. You might also want to train at Nightmares if you want the Esther shield early but then they’re sorta kind of strong for you at the moment. With your new Holy Arrow, don’t bother training on dark monsters yet, it’s still a bit weak to use on other monsters.

RECOMMENDED TRAINING SPOTS: Chronos, Paper Lantern Ghosts

Levels 45-50

Wow, are you still Ludi PQing? You must be bored to death right now. Ludi PQ exp is starting to lessen so you might want to try Platoon Chronos not just for the exp but the rare magicians Esther Shield if you didn’t go nightmares earlier. Monster Carnival by now should be great exp, try to party with any warrior with slash blast, you'll be more likely to win that way. Zombie Lupins are still ripe for grinding so squeeze the juicy exp out of them. The big Wraiths are also good too with either Heal or Holy Arrow. Skeledogs and Mummydogs are also a good option as their drops and exp are decent. Now that your Holy Arrow is a bit stronger, you might consider going Dark Stone Golems which they drop good mage equips but they’re still a bit strong for you.

RECOMMENDED TRAINING SPOTS: Zombie Lupins

Levels 50-55

Looks like your Ludibrium PQ and Monster Carnival days are over but the beginning of Orbis PQ and Ludibrium Maze PQ dawns! If you’re doing Orbis PQ, do the rush pq rather than the full PQ otherwise Papa Pixie will own you. Ludibrium Maze PQ gives great exp/money until level 70 but you cannot hit Tauromacis even with your maxed Holy Arrow! Just sit back and heal your party members for now. If you hate parties and tend to train by yourself well there is a LOT of options to choose from with Maxed Holy Arrow by your side.

• How about starting to grinding off Master Chronos? their exp and drops are great. If you think you’re lucky, cross your fingers for a 60% Staff Magic Attack scroll.

• The Big Wraiths are still good in terms of drops and exp.

• So are the Dark Stone Golems if you maxed Holy Arrow up to this point.

• Again, if you’re after great mage equips, start heading towards the Dark Jr Yetis and the Dark Yetis but before you do, make sure magic guard is on!

• The Coolie Zombies are also great exp when your each level 55, however the maps with the great spawn of them is hard to reach in terms of strong monsters and the alternative is the crap spawn in Zipangu with Nightghosts. Nightghosts are weak to heal but I wouldn’t bother them until you’re at least level 58 since you’ll be missing them quite frequently.

• The Maladys is also another option you can choose from but they might be a bit strong at the moment however their drops are quite decent and they’re worth it.

• Head over to Korean Folk Town and take down the Samihos and the Blins? Exp suffice to say is horrible since Samihos can curse you reducing the exp you receive. The Blins are ok but since they have two forms and the second form only gives exp, it isn’t very promising.

• Finally the Skeleton Commanders in the Sharenian Ruins are horrible exp but their drops like the Maladys are worth it.

RECOMMENDED TRAINING SPOTS: Master Chronos, Coolie Zombies. As for the Zombie Lupins, looks like their exp has gone rotten for the time being.

Levels 55-60

If you’re a PQ lover, charge through Ludi Maze PQ, Orbis Rush PQ is ok until level 60 but don’t try full pq yet! You’re still pretty weak. You can also start Herb Town PQ which is heavy exp but it is strongly not recommended since you’ll burn up a lot of pots. Other than party quests, here are the training options:

• Dark Stone Golems will be a piece of cake for you right now, just cross your fingers for an evil wings drop.

• Coolie Zombies are a great exp in the forest of dead trees. The Dead mines has a horrific spawn so don’t bother with Miners.

• Again Dark Yetis (not Jrs) are good exp.

• Dark Pepes are also good in terms of exp and drops, they drop the level 58 mage overalls and the level 60 hats.

• Skeletons from the Sharenian Ruins are starting to wither in exp so train there for good drops.

• Head over to the cemetery and try your luck on Nightghosts, every once in a while, they drop steelys =P.

• To you Global Maplers, Hoodoos and Voodoos give excellent exp at around level 58+. However their drops aren’t as good as the others apart from the fact Hoodoos drop the legendary Esther.

RECOMMENDED TRAINING SPOTS: Coolie Zombies.

Levels 60-65

Maze PQ to your hearts delight! Gather the cash rolling in! You might want to try Full Orbis PQ but during the boss stage, try to stay away from papa pixie as far as possible, one touch without magic guard can kill you and to make matters worse, papa pixie has this annoying ability to dispel your buffs. Herb Town PQ is better delayed until around level 70 since you’ll be burning up around 30 red bean sundaes every pq. Other than PQing here’s your monster selection:

• Keep killing those darn coolies in the forest of dead trees! If you’re after better drops, go try minor zombying but its spawn is absolutely horrible.

• Nightghosts shouldn’t be too hard now but still they take around 7 hits to kill with heal or 4-5 hits with Holy Arrow.

• If you are a GMS player then you should try Hoodoos or Voodoos. They give sweet exp but their drops are not as good as others. However hoodoos and Voodoos take around 6-8 hits with heal at your level so it may be a bit slow to grind off them.

• The officer skeletons drops are worthwhile but unfortunately their spawn rate is horrible.

• Lets try teddies shall we? No not brown teddys or panda teddys, soul teddys yes you heard me SOUL TEDDYS!!! They are a bit hard at the moment but the spawn rate especially at the bottom is sweet. Their hp and defense is the only thing that pretty much is disappointing though.

• Lets go Mushmoming but this time, lets go for the dead one YES the zombie mushmom is a big whopper. Have your heal and arrow ready and kill it for its sweet drops. Unfortunately a lot of other people will reside there and you’ll be ksed often.

RECOMMENDED TRAINING SPOTS: Coolie Zombies

Levels 65-70

Wow, if you Lmpqed up to this point, you should have around 15mil+ already if you didn’t spent it on anything flashy. (or if you keep getting crap prizes =3). Again, continue LMPQ or go try rush OPQ and full OPQ. If you hate pqs and tend to stay away from them, here are some options on where to grind:

• After money? If you maxed Holy Arrow and MP eater already, go to amoria and take down those Sakura cellions and by that time, you should be able to ks more classes down there (with exception to sins) You should be able to kill a single sakura cellion in 1-2 hits. Since you won’t waste any pots doing this, this is the fastest way to earn cash since sakura cellions drop a ridiculously high amount of cash and you kill them quite fast. If you’re an NX hoar, go buy a double drop card and get even more mesos.

• After exp? Continue hunting in the forest of dead trees for those coolies.

• Hoodoos and Voodoos are still good at this level to you all Globalers.

• Soul teddies are alright in terms of exp and spawn. But I recommend moving on down to Klocks. Search for a good sniping spot and heal them to death. Their spawn isn’t great but their drops is! Cross your fingers for an Evil Wings or Dark Ritual (I found 2 while grinding off them in a 3 hour period =3) Try not to get damaged by them since their damage is quite high. Magic guard MUST BE TURNED ON at all costs!!!

• Found the Ilbis and Hwabis yet? If not, continue Zombie Mushmoming…if those pros don’t ks you that is. RECOMMENDED TRAINING SPOTS: Coolie Zombies, Hoodoos/Voodoos.

3rd Job Advancement

Wow, you finally made it this far have you? Now start heading towards El Nath in the chiefs residence. Talk to Rene (I think) to start your 3rd job advancement.

Now head to Grendel in Ellinia and talk to him, then head to the Forest in Evil and enter the door of dimension. Now inside, you must fight Grendels dark clone. Since you maxed Holy Arrow, life is so much easier. Whenever Grendel is preparing to cast a spell, TELEPORT BACK NOW! If you’re planning to take on Grendel magic guardless, he can reduce you to as close as 10% of your normal hp in one attack unless you’re excellent in telecasting. Grendel can hit up to 800 damage with his magic and 400 touch damage. If you’re fighting with magic guard, you have nothing to worry about… NOTHING!?? To make matters more complicated. Grendel can summon Tauromacis to aid him and this is where it gets annoying. The tauromacis are a real pain and hopefully if you listened to my advice on maxing Holy Arrow, it’ll be easier to take them down since they’re slightly weak to holy.

Once you defeated Grendels clone, pick up the crystal he drops and bring it back to the real Grendel. He’ll send you to Rene and there she will send you to find the Wisdom stone in the holy grounds. Now prepare a refined dark crystal ready and head to the stone. I recommend grabbing a guide to help you with this because in order to answer the stones questions, you need to pay up one dark crystal and if you get it wrong, you’ll have to start all over again and pay another dark crystal. Once you answered all 5 questions, head back to Rene and she’ll make you a Priest. Congratulations for getting this far!

3rd Job Skills

Ahh now the skills. There are two different kind of builds for a Solo Cleric and even a solo cleric might be forced to party. Since you’re a solo cleric, I suggest maxing Shining Ray first before any other skills. The builds is really up to you, I'm not going to provide certin types you can choose from coz it's simply too much.

Particle Resistance

Elemental Resistance.gif What it does: Grants you resistance towards all elemental based damage.

My Opinion: This skill is a moneysaver if you turn on magic guard and face monsters magic attacks. Max it around in the early 100s

Dispel

Dispel.gif What it does: Gives you a chance to dispel negative buffs in your party and positive buffs on enemies.

My Opinion: Useful in some cases if you want 100% chance of dispelling. I’d leave it up to level 20. I reckon 80% chance is good enough.

Mystic Door

Mystic Door.gif What it does: Opens a door at a cost of a summoning rock that leads to the nearest town. The higher the skill level, the longer it lasts.

My Opinion: Not really worth maxing but it’s damn useful not only for parties but for yourself too, if you can’t be bothered walking to and from your training spot when you’re repotting, use dimension door.

Holy Sign

Holy Symbol.gif What it does: Gives a boost of exp to you and your party members for a certain amount of time. When maxed, it gives 150% more exp (I think) Only works if you’re in a party of two.

My Opinion: MAX THIS if you want faster leveling and this also makes you more welcome towards training with DKs. For solo clerics, you can just get into a group of 3 and use this skill then disband the party so you’ll gain 150% exp by yourself.

Shining Ray

Shining Ray.gif What it does: An AoE attack that hits nearby units around you in a small range.

My Opinion: MAX THIS FIRST!!! You’re a solo cleric right? A solo offensive cleric MUST max Shining Ray first! It’s stronger than the I/Ls Ice Strike but its range is absolutely horrific. To those who maxed Holy Arrow, congratulations, you need to use it a lot in conjunction to Shining Ray to counter your range disability.

Doom

Doom.gif What it does: Turns monsters into snails at a given success rate, costs 1 magic rock.

My Opinion: This skill is literally useless against most monsters to my opinion but it is fun to use and maplestory is all about FUN!!! Why max doom? Because we can and its free! Max this if you want for fun.

Summon Dragon

Summon Dragon.gif What it does: Summons a small flying dragon at a cost of a summoning rock for a certain amount of time.

My Opinion: Very useful skill even if you’re not attacking but healing at the same time. This skill is VERY useful but then again the summoning rock price isn’t very promising especially if you’re very dependant on the dragons attack. If you plan to reach 4th job ASAP then leave 15 skill points on this skill to save more skill points for other skills. However if you DO NOT intend to reach 4th job or if you think you’d be taking a VERY LONG while to reach 4th job, max this skill.

3rd Job Training Spots

Levels 71-80

Unfortunately, say goodbye to LMPQ and OPQ =(. However you can at least start trying HTPQ. Horrible exp when you reach around level 75 but if you’re desperate for the pirate hat, go for it! In some versions with Magatia, start the Magatias PQ for quick exp until level 80. Otherwise here are some suggestions on the training spots:

• Forest of dead trees is still good for you healing clerics, coolie all the way until around level 75 which the exp really starts to get horrific.

• To you all Globalers, Hoodoos and Voodoos are very good exp though most channels are probably taken.

• You might want to start Death Teddies at this point even though they might take fairly long. There are a lot of ‘sniping’ spots in the map where your heal can reach them, it may take a while killing them but hey, at least you’re getting fairly decent exp. Be wary, Death Teddies deal up to 1k touch damage even with bless or invincibility (900 at minimum) which is enough to 1HKO you (unless you got hp boosters) Turn on Magic Guard at ALL TIMES.

• At the early level 75, you can start going Master Death Teddies, there are no sniping spots here I’m afraid but you’re pretty much strong enough to solo them. Like the Death Teddies, just make sure you’ve turned on Magic Guard. RECOMMENDED TRAINING SPOTS: Coolie Zombies, Hoodoos/Voodoos, Death Teddys, Master Death Teddys

Levels 80-89

Still HTPQing? Its exp is absolutely horrific by now and you shouldn’t bother if you’re solely after exp. If you’re guild is well organized, try Sharenian GPQ. At around this level if you play KMS or JMS, you might wanna try Magatia PQ but at this point to you Globalers and MSEAers, you should focus on grinding rather than pqing.:

• Death Teddies and Master Death Teddies galore, by now you should take them down very easily(well not really the MDTs though).

• At the early 85, you should start soloing black Kentaurus since they’re weak to Heal and Holy. Their exp and drops are pretty decent.

• You might want to try Wolf Spiders as well for the legendary Ilbis. They may be a bit hard at this point but there are some ‘sniping’ spots for Shining Ray. Hope you maxed it by now otherwise don’t bother coming here.

• Start Phantom Watches at around level 85 to 88, they are fairly hard but you can take them on. REMEMBER: Magic Guard should ALWAYS BE ON!!!

Levels 90-99

You’re coming nearer and nearer to your goal of level 100, this is where it starts getting very tough since you have options to two or three training areas and most PQs are out of question. By now if you have NX, start using 2x exp cards to progress faster.

• Phantom and Grim Phantom Watches are both fairly decent in terms of exp and drops.

• Continue on your Kentaurus massacre, let the juicy exp and the sweet drops come oozing out.

• At this point around level 95 you might want to try Himes even though most channels are probably full. Himes is one of the best training spots for level 90+ priests and bishops. They spawn in a large group plus their exp is awesome. The only con about this map is the Black Crow boss which can spawn every now and then.

Levels 100-119

Congratulations on making it this far, 20 more levels till 4th job! Grinding exp has gotten even more harsh than before but trust me, if you persist, you can reach there. 2x exp cards is strongly recommended now since exp grinding is so slow and harsh.

• Himes! Himes! Himes! How many times should I repeat myself? Lets go and kick their butts already!

• Wanna kick some bony butts? Try Skelegons and Skelesaurus in the Leafre canyons around level 110 or so. Be careful though, their short ranged beam is deadly.

• Lets start bosshunting! The Balrog families, Blue Mushmom, Papulatus, Thanatos and others. Not very good exp but nice drops =P.

4th Job Advancement

Congratulations! You have reached 4th job and about time too!

First head to El Nath and speak to your 3rd job instructor and then go to the forest of the priest in Leafre and speak to your 4th job instructor.

Your 4th Job Instructor will require Heroes Mark and Heroes Pentagon in return for the 4th job advancement, they are both dropped from Griffey and Manon.

Alternatively, you may speak to Chief Tatamo who will give you BOTH of these items in return for the Secret Letter of Spell sold by Vegas in Eos Tower for around 10mil. Return to your 4th job instructor with both the Heroes Mark and the Pentagon and you’ll finally advance to a Bishop!

4th Job Skillbook

Finally the skillbook, unlike the previous Job Advancement you need to EARN your own skills by hunting or quests. However you receive three core skills which are Big Bang, Mana Reflection and Holy Shield and you can only max them up to 10 unless you have mastery books.

Here are the skills you can choose from:

Maple Hero

MapleWarriorThumb.gif What it does: Gives you and your party a boost to all stats by 10% at max level.

Obtainable from: Your Job Instructor gives it to you after your 4th job advancement.

My Opinion: This skill isn’t good nor bad in terms of effectiveness, I definitely wouldn’t put my first skill on it too soon but I recommend putting this up a bit later after you maxed the ‘good skills’.

Big Bang

Big Bang.gif What it does: An AoE attack that charges for a few seconds before releasing the explosion with 450 base attack at max.

Obtainable from: Obtained as a Core Skill

My Opinion: Very nice skill but comparing it to Genesis makes it look weak. Nonetheless, if you think acquiring the Genesis skillbook may take ages, put 1 skillpoint on this skill for your attack though you got Shining Ray to back it up.

Mana Reflection

Mana Reflection.gif What it does: A supportive ability that gives a 60% chance to reflect 200% magic damage done back to the monster at max level. Lasts 250 seconds.

Obtainable from: Obtained as a Core Skill

My Opinion: Another sweet skill but comparing to most of the Bishops other skills doesn’t stand out much. Nonetheless you may want to put this up a bit later after you maxed Genesis or Ressurection.

Holy Shield

Holy Shield.gif What it does: A supportive ability that allows you and your party to be temporarily immune to most unfriendly buffs for 40 seconds at max level.

Obtainable from: Obtained as a Core Skill

My Opinion: Not very useful unless you’re fighting against someone like Thanatos or the Horntail. Still put 1 skillpoint on it to prevent monsters who can cast seal and it definitely saves you from using holy water or all cure pots.

Infinity

Infinity.gif What it does: A supportive ability that grants you infinite mana for 40 seconds at max.

Obtainable from: Quest (See Below)

My Opinion: This is one of the first skills you should spend on. You’ll be using this frequently in conjunction to Genesis which burn up nearly half your mana. This is so damn useful that you can spam Genesis all you want. However you have a cooldown of 10 mins upon usage of this skill which is the only bad thing about this skill.

Bahamut

Bahamut.gif What it does: Summons a holy dragon with elemental damage to fight for you for 160 seconds at max.

Obtainable from: Quest (See Below)

My Opinion: Again, another very useful skill that doesn’t burn up so much mana. The dragons damage is quite neat. 230 base attack for 160 seconds plus it targets 3 monsters making it a mini mobbing attacker. I’d strongly recommend putting this skill first regardless of your party cleric or solo cleric builds.

Resurrection

Resurrection.gif What it does: Resurrects a nearby party member. At max, the skill will have a cooldown of 30 minutes.

Obtainable from: Quest (See Below)

My Opinion: Yet another useful skill but I dislike the cooldown time but at least it’s better than nothing! Useful in most PQ namely Horntail PQ.

Angel Ray

Angel Ray.gif What it does: Attacks a single monster with a holy arrow, incurring tremedous holy damages. 240 base attack at max.

Obtainable from: Zakum (Skillbook)

My Opinion: This skill is similar to holy arrow, short and sweet yet easily obtainable compared to the other skills. However this skill isn’t very useful since you have long ranged AoEs such as Big Bang and Genesis but that does not mean it’s completely useless. You might wanna replace this as Holy Arrow and use this in combination with your AoE skills to save mana.

Genesis

Genesis.gif What it does: A holy ray of light falls from the sky, attacks up to 15 monsters at one time. Incurs tremedous holy damages to the attacked, 670 base damage at max but uses 3500 mana.

Obtainable from: Quest (See Below)

My Opinion: The mother of all AoE skills, Genesis is by far the strongest damaging AoE skill (unless a f/p or an i/l archmage have elemental amplification). However it burns up 3500 mana in which by that time, you’d lose like around half of your maximum mp. Use this skill in combination with infinity and you’ll be godly.

Heros Will

Awakening.gif What it does: Depending on the character level, your chance of dispelling an abnormal condition is increased. This is an active skill.

Obtainable from: Quest (See Below)

My Opinion: Pretty much this skill is literally useless for Bishops whereas it is useful for other classes. Why? You got dispel on your side already! The only thing that Heros Will is useful for is dispelling the Horntails Psycho buff.

Obtaining the Skillbooks

Here is a guide to obtain the skillbooks and the mastery books throughout quests:

Infinity

Requirements: A high level party with a 4th job warrior who HAS NOT learned Stance in his skillbook.

This skillbook is obtained as a reward from El Nath Party Quest in which you protect Tylus from hordes of monsters. One of these mobs has a high chance of dropping some skillbooks namely Infinity, Dragon Pulse and Showdown.

Bahamut

Requirements: None

This quest is quite long and is repeatable to obtain mastery books.

First, talk to Raul the Knight in the Leafre Dragon Canyon, he'll ask you to collect Dragon Hearts which is dropped from Red Wyverns, Blue Wyverns and Dark Wyverns . He'll increase your Bahamut skill levels with a very long quest chain in which every completion will reward you with the skill with a certain mastery level.

To increase your level cap up to 10, he'll ask for 20 Dragon Hearts.

To increase your level cap up to 15, he'll ask for 25 more Dragon Hearts.

To increase your level cap up to 20, he'll ask for 30 more Dragon Hearts.

To increase your level cap up to 25, he'll ask for 35 more Dragon Hearts.

To increase your level cap up to 30, he'll ask for 40 more Dragon Hearts.

In total, that's a whopping amount of 150 Dragon Hearts. See what I mean by 'quite long'?

Resurrection

Requirements:

  • Black Bible Storybook
  • 100 Ice Shards
  • 50 Firebomb Flames
  • 5 Charm of the Undead
  • VIP Teleport Rocks (optional but recommended)

This is perhaps the most annoying quest chain t my opinon simply because you travel between Victoria Island and Ludus Lake often. If you have any VIP teleport rocks, they will sure come in handy. Otherwise, have your travelling tickets prepared.

This quest is started when you obtain the Black Bible storybook from Grim Phantom Watches or Coolie Zombies. It is a rare drop so be patient.

Once you obtain the book head to Leafre and talk to your 4th job instructor Gritto then head to Aqua Dungeon and talk to Carta the Sea Witch whom she'll ask you to collect the following items:

- 100 Ice Shards

- 50 Firebomb Flames

- 5 Charm of the Undead

(Note: Th Ice Shards are dropped by Grim Phantom Watches and the Charm of the Undead is dropped by Zombie Mushrooms to those whom you don't know already.)

Once you're done, she'll give you a Cold Flame and talk to her again to continue your quest.

Head to a hidden cave in the bottom left of Dangerous Sea Gorge II. Inside this cave there should be a cauldron thre, drop the Cold Flame and the Black Bible into the cauldron.

Head back to Carta and talk to her, then head to Sleepywood and talk to The Rememberer who is located in Sleepywood.

The Rememberer will ask for an item called the Deathly Fear, head to Ludibrium and go to the Forgotten Passage (The room with Thanatos), go through the middle door with a faint, blue outline. Note that only 1 person can enter the map at a time.

Enter the dimension and find the Deathly Fear and the exit before the 20 minutes on the timer runs out.

Return to The Rememberer with the Deathly Fear and he'll reward you with the Resurretion Skillbook.

Yes I know this quest is long and annoying but your efforts are really rewarding!

Genesis

Requirements:

  • Secret Medicine of Transformation chain quests completed

Like the other quests, this one is long too but personally I don't think its that long, at least not as long as the others. The only bummer is you must enter the Cave of Life to obtain one of these quest items and an attunment (quest chain) is required to enter the Cave of Life. So before you do this, I suggest you should do this quest chain until you can do the quest "Making the Secret Medicine of Transformation" before starting the Genesis Skillbook Quest Chain

First off, talk to Shammos in the El Nath Chief Residences house (The house with the 3rd job instructors), he'll ask for an item called Life's Root

Head to the Cave of Life and do the "Making the Secret Medicine of Transformation" Quest to turn yourself into a Cornian. Otherwise Keroben the guard will kick you out of the entrance.

Head inside the Cave of Life and beat all the stages and find Lifes Cavern in which you'll find the Life's Root

Bring the item back to Shammos to earn your Genesis Skillbook.

Heros Will

Requirements:

  • Miniature Pianus Statues (Having more than one is optional but recommended)
  • A high level friend willing to help out
  • 10 Mithril Plates

This quest is pretty long and frustrating and furthermore you are forced to kill fairly hard monsters for a Bishop namely Griffey an Pianus:

First of all, speak to Chief Tatamo in Leafre to start the quest.

Talk to Carta the Sea Witch (In a hidden map at aqua dungeon) twice to recieve a quest from her.

Enter the new map she offers to take you in, note that you need a Miniature Pianus Statue and an another player to assist you with this. Be Warned, everytime you fail this quest, the fee to reenter this map is another Miniature Pianus Statue dropped by Pianus himself.

Kill the Bonefish, Sharks and Gobys and obtain 40 of the X pieces they drop before the time runs out.

Talk to Carta to finish tis quest and talk to her again to recieve another quest.

Head to Leafre and look for an NPC called Fu, he'll ask you to collect a broken ring and 10 mithril plates. The broken ring is dropped from the Leafre boss Griffey. After obtaining these items, he'll give you a special ring.

Take the new ring back to Carta and she'll give you a potion, use this potion to acquire you the Heros Will skill.

4th Job Training Spots

Levels 120 and above

Training Spots: From here on, you can train wherever you like but I recommend the Skelegon family and the Himes for now. If you loooove parties, go Cave of Life PQ and try take down the Horntail, I wish you luck if you do so!
