Protect Lucas's Farm - hard; I recommend this for someone who likes to take risks; the Red Snails have 40 HP and offer up only 6 EXP, so it's not that great. The reward are gloves.

Generating the Character

NOTE: This guide contains a dice roll section for AP points. We would like to inform you that dice roll function is not used anymore in GMS and MapleSEA. If you are a beginner, there is no need as all points are assigned to STR. When you get your job advancement, click A and then click on auto-assign points. Please avoid that section and everytime you level up, press 'a' and press auto-assign. You may continue that system or if you are looking to use a special point build eg. dexless assassin, then you may do so.

When generating your character, you'll want to max out your INT and LUK stats; these are the most important skills for a Magician. Thus, you'll want something like this:

STR= 4 or 5 DEX= 4 or 5 INT= ??? LUK= ???

Since leveling up will be hard until you get your job, I suggest that if you're okay with a slightly weaker (by 1 INT point) magician, aim for a 5 STR, 4 DEX, and whatever INT and LUK are. This will get you leveling a tad faster on Maple Island.

When you level up, you'll recieve 5 Ability Points. Make sure LUK is always your Level + 3. The rest of the points should go into INT.

Maple Island

You'll begin in the Sprout Area, in a really dumb costume. Don't worry, it doesn't last for long. Proceed though here, and try to hit level 3. You'll enter Snail Hunting Grounds I next. Stay here for a while, at least until level 6, hunting Snails. Following the World Map (W), head for the Split Road.

Quests

Well, there are a lot with the new patch. Only do a few, since the rest will take forever due to your low STR. Here are my recommendations:

Please Bring This Letter to Lucas - You'll be heading between Amherst and A Split Road over and over for this one. The reward is pretty good: 10 EXP, and a random cap; if you get the Red Headband, rejoice! You scored an extra Accuracy Point! The rest are the same: +2 Weapon Defense

Pio's Collecting Goods - Simply amazing, you HAVE to do this. Talk to Pio (in Amherst), then go to the house past the Potion Shops. Keep changing channels and destroying boxes till you have the stuff you need. Your Reward is the Relaxing Chair, which heals you at 50 HP and some MP per 10 seconds when sitting in it.

Rain's Maple Quiz - easy source of 62 EXP; huge.

Mai's Training I - easy/medium difficulty. Takes a little bit. She offers 70 EXP as a reward.

Protect Lucas's Farm - hard; I recommend this for someone who likes to take risks; the Red Snails have 40 HP and offer up only 8 EXP, so it's not that great. The reward are gloves.

There are a few more; I'll update this list later.

Skills

Put 3 into Recovery, 1 into Nimble Feet, and 1 into Snails. Only 1, you ask? Well, the one skill point lets you use Green Shells, for low MP, which you have a ton of. Add one more, and you'll be forced to use Blue Shells only; much harder to get.

Training

Snails, snails, and more snails. Focus on Shrooms, Green Snails, and Blue Snails; these give some nice items, are used for quests, and offer a good EXP:HP ratio.

Leaving the Island

Go to Shanks in Southperry. He'll give you a free ride if you do a certain quest from Lucas; otherwise, it's 500 Mesos. You can never go back to Maple Island, though, so ensure you have a good supply of Mesos. You should be at Level 8, or just about to reach it.

Victoria Island

Go towards Olaf, who's close to the other side of the city, on the bottom. Talk to him, complete his quests, and head back towards the ship. You'll pass a guy outside a large wooden booth. Talk to him, and ask to go to another town (bottom option). Choose Ellinia. Head all the way up, and enter the topmost portal. Talk to Grendel the Really Old. If you're level 7, make sure you complete Olaf's quest, then talk to him again.

Congratulations! You are now a Magician!
